I'd love someone at the club be able to hold the ball for more than 5 seconds... Our strikers are collectively weak.

Udogie is a far superior a defender...

And doesn't switch off as much as Spence... Still rate the lad, but it's obvious to see in a game like this.

We’ve got something like six games over the next couple of weeks so at least there’s going to be time to get things sorted.

Not great, plenty of work to do. Still, more clean sheets already than last season.

Bergvhal, that’s about the only positive from tonight except for the win

Ref was a joke.

Well that was a big old pile of shit but I can’t complain about 3 points at this early stage and another clean sheet as well.

Thought it was one of those games where we scored too early, if you know what I mean. We kind of took control toward the end of the first half, but the second half was very poor, and we're lucky Nicholas Pepe shit himself everytime he got near our box. Three points and all that, on to the next one.

It is just me or is it all a bit uninspiring at the moment?

I get that we have 9 points in the league and a winning start in Europe but it’s a rather painful watch, isn’t it?

Maybe football fatigue has set in for me, it just seems one campaign just leads straight into the next one and there’s no time to “miss” it…or is Frank’s pragmatic style a pretty plain watch, I don’t know.

I agree. Given the manner in which we closed out the first half, I was expecting us to come out of the break & take considerable control of the match. Didn't happen & not sure why.

I thought it would be quite "like us" that Pepe's free kick in the final moments would seal a draw when we really never felt threatened over the 90 mins. Lots of industry but nothing really to show.

Just a very drab match but it's our 3 points.

I guess we can say it is still rather early for Frank to put his stamp on our play style. I do kinda miss Ange Ball a bit with the anticipation, excitement plus the anxiety of what may happen. The polarity of it all, experiencing dramatic extremes of emotions.
It was like supporting a club with a bi-polar disorder. There's therapy for that but it apparently only exists in Ange's 3rd season.

I keep hearing people talk about Ange ball but if I’m not mistaken, we played some fucking awful football under Ange as well.

For me it’s the same old story, lack of movement off the ball, which leads to players getting caught in possession too easily or having to pass it back or sideways, gifting the ball away with some woeful passing, and a midfield that tends to look disjointed.

Clean sheets is a start though, we needed to get that side of things sorted, and I hope we’ll start to see some better football moving forward.

Yeah I think we're comparing chaos at times to proper organised structure with Frank. The clean sheets tell us that but for me, The chaos was entertaining but self destructive but I think the signs are good under Frank.
He's got us organised!! That was very badly needed. I think the rest will come over the next couple of windows.

We can't have it every way....

Bergval is awesome but he needs help in the middle big time. He's still young and developing and will get tired of it all being on him very fucking quickly if we don't get him help.

Madders while slow as shit, does have the skills to go break lines either with the ball or through passing... We've got no one else who can realistically do that unless you count the new kids, and they're yet to prove anything... Kudos maybe, but then you loose your one true reliable attacking outlet that you want that play maker feeding into.

Pauline is top dog at his shit... I don't expect him to be assisting in this dept and you could argue Sarr also doesn't fit that remit...

Bentancur while I like him, doesn't seem to do anything at an exceptional level. He is sloppy and inconsistent at times and last night on the ball, he made my balls ache...

Don't get me started on what our squad calls strikers...

Still lots to do and Frank needs to find a versatile way to get this mob playing much better football because after watching a few games at the weekend, we've faced some dog shit sides (we always beat Citeh) in comparison to what's to come...

I think it will get better, but I don't think frank has a philosophy and makes the best of what he has got and plays to the strengths of his squad. Have to admire that pragmatism and practicality, especially after the belligerence of the last few years.

I think we've looked pretty good at times, just inconsistent even within games. Probably to be expected with a new manager. As others have said the same was very true of Ange. I guess the biggest differences have been 1) a Plan B; and 2) we're so much better at set pieces now.

Yeah, I agree ,it's great that we appear to be flexible.. adaptable to the team we are playing against, also we must have looked up defense in the dictionary

I'll add that it used to be an adage that you had to give a manager at least 2-3 transfer windows before really judging them. Not sure that's the case anymore, but it's definitely true that this squad is a work in progress.
