Very true. But we’re not good enough to play the way we were trying to play against a team like that. Anyway, Belgium were (rightly) pissed off and clearly inspired. Thoroughly deserved to win. Some potential classics in the quarterfinals, especially if Argentina and Colombia win tomorrow.

Djed has been outstanding since coming on in this game.

I thought England were pretty lucky tbh. Got the benefit of several decisions (though I thought Djed’s penalty should’ve been upheld.) England-Argentina has the potential to be epic.

In fairness, the ITV reporter only told Bellingham that Tuchel said they didn't play well. He didnt say that he went on and on about how much character they showed. But yes, I think it's good to have a manager that doesn't settle, and players who have a bit of edge about them. Helps that Bellingham is fucking brilliant when his head is in it. I am really looking forward to this game.

Yep. Completely passive. Though I will say Argentina put on a clinic in how to play against a low block. Overloads, late runs into the box, players dropping off to find space at the top of the box, etc. Contrast that with Mexico, who just lumped cross after cross into the box late in the game at the Azteca

No idea why Tuchel shut things down so abruptly & early after the England's goal. If what you're doing is successful, keep doing it.
They were keeping much of the match in the middle 3rd with few threats until he switched.

It was not only a complete about face but England were defending so deep inside their box & it appeared as a 8-2-0 formation. As @J.spurs mentioned, they left so much space at the top of their box but what was even weirder, Messi moved out right where he had acres of space to wield his magic.

This one's on Tuchel & I was rooting for him & England.

Where's the shock ?
Anytime they play anyone in a major tournament that's either at the same level or better, they get done.
Bellingham is world class but Kane rarely turns up against top top opposition and at this tournament they really struggled against sides like Ghana and Norway.
They waltz through qualification and are never prepared for a proper test in testing conditions.
Maybe that's an issue and one that needs to be looked at ? The seeding system doesn't help the likes of England because there's really no test to see where they're really at.
