Terrible performance but we've got away with it. Champions league football is still in our hands, which is unbelievable considering we were pretty much resigned to top 6 or 8 under nuno.
Conte has done a great job so far. Apart from Bentancur and Kulo, this is not his squad. If we didn't have Son & Kane up front, we'd be looking at trying to finish in the top 10. We've been carried for long enough by those two. We need serious signings to help share the burden, otherwise, Conte, Son & Kane will be off... and I for one won't blame them if they do. I still think we'll do it, but 3 points on May 12th will be a must....

Watching this game, we're crying out for Eriksen circa 2016 or so. That and to just get rid of Emerson altogether, replacement or no replacement.

Bottom line is that if we were a very good side, we'd have CL secured comfortably this season. I think we'll scrape it out fourth myself, but you're absolutely right, there needs to be significant investment in the squad, CL or not. Maybe not quite as much as I thought back around November, but we need significant upgrades back to front.

It was a very odd performance, all of our players out of sorts at the the same time. I'd like to see an attacking midfielder added, but I'm not sure Antonio would use him anyway, since he wants his 3-4-3 with the wingbacks doing the creative bit, and I'm sure he knows what he's doing. But I don't understand why he hasn't yet noticed that we don't actually have any creative wingbacks.

You're right about our wingback situation. Not sure any of ours are good enough for the roll except Doherty (can't believe I'm saying that). Reggie gets up and down enough but the final product is lacking. Sess maybe has it in him.

I can't say much about Conte as he is working miracles, but we can't be that rigid in formation. Brighton swamped us in midfield and didn't let us play. Removing Kulu for winks would have made more sense in a game like that and shift 2 up top.

Honestly, I reckon we're the fourth best team in the league (though, as I said earlier, we're not great).

Whether we deserve in the cosmic scheme of things to be in the Champions League or not is another question, but it is what it is. Results business, etc etc.

Well be dumped out of the competition in the group stages as we currently are and suffer like fuck after playing midweek dropping points we shouldn't, for fun...!

CL football will not be pretty for us IMO unless we shift loads more shit out of the squad and draft in loads more fresh, eager quality.

Basically, it's not going to happen, so we'll be also rans until Kane and Son fuck off and we don't have them to drag us out of the shit week in and out.
