The game that the world and it's mother is expecting us to lose, and to lose heavily.

Current odds for us to win are around 8/1 so even the bookies think it's a lost cause, but at that price I'll be up for a tenner bet.

But then we've always been somewhat of a bogey team for them so who knows ?. We know Ange will send them out there fired up and ready to have a go so if they get amongst it early on and rattle them then ... ?

Exactly that, just go for it and accept the result.

This is the one game I'd be fearful of even with a full team.

Spurs High line + good passers in the opposition + Haaland = squeaky bum time.

The unexpected ones are the ones you win though so fuck Haaland. weird looking cunt.

If we had one of our centre backs available I'd be optimistic of an upset.

As it stands, I can't reasonably see how we can win the game.

Ange thinks he can win even with 9 men.

Even if we do get points on the board again, it may only help Arsenal move away at the top.

I'd rather get thumped and give it a good go than play the football we have been fucking around with in the previous 3 seasons. Audrey is a goer! (thanks for that quote are due to the great and sadly missed Mr Rudi). City are not unbeatable this season, they have only won one game more than us so this will be an easy win for us (yeah OK, I know, probably not but you never know eh?)

In fairness, we've a bloody good record against these. Nothing to fear. Let them worry about us.

Could we, will we, shall we? I'm sure I've been this keyed up for a match, and probably recently, but just now I can't think of an instance.

I know we're up against a juggernaut, but I don't have that plucky underdog feeling. More of a you-don't-know-what-you're-up-against premonition. A bit of a New Year's Day 2015 feeling.

We know what to expect...

I just hope the lads are mentality strong enough for a game like this...

Arguably the only side we could really put out but I'm ok with that. There's creativity there and if Bissouma is on any kind of form, we might have a modicum of protection for the back line.

Doku against Porro is going to be tough to watch.

Bench looks a bit better this week with Richarlison back though. Glad Gil started again. Didn't come off for him last week but he was in all the right places.

This is fucking painful.

We're doing well but it just has that feeling of inevitability about it...

At least we’re getting some luck, they've hit the post twice and the giant freak has missed two sitters, they could have scored six or seven by now, maybe the curse I put on them has worked. Sonny’s first goal was a beauty, mucho credit to little Bryan, who I reckon has been our best player in the first half. Everyone knows I know fuck all about football, but we seem to be giving that Duko bloke way too much space over on their left, maybe Emerson could spend a minute or two over there?

We can blame the makeshift back 4 all we want but we rely too much on individual brilliance to get us out of trouble.

General thoughts:

Johnson's defensive play isn't good enough and would rather have Richarlison on the left.

Losing 4 games in a row from winning positions is more of a mentality issue than a squad ability issue.

Ange has to take some responsibility for becoming more and more like de Boer at Crystal Palace than Pep at Man City.

Must get points from West Ham and stop losing 2+ goals every fucking game.

Still can’t believe our best CB pairing right now, are our back up LB and RB. Royal gives me the shitters when he’s on the ball, not particularly what you want from your CB. Citeh have to have the quietest stadium in the PL.

Nah, mate, they are just much better than us. They’ve had 64% possession, 12 shots to our 2. There have far more blocks and good defending than mistakes, and we have had some good luck. Yes we are playing well, but we will need something special in the second half to get anything out of this.

It's an analogy based on results. You can't start losing 4-5 games in a row in the Premier League no matter what style you are trying to implement and no matter where you are in the league. If your players aren't good enough then your players aren't good enough. Yes our injured players could probably field an 11 that could beat this one. However, it is part of the manager's job to decide we're going to isolate Doku against Ben Davies at right centre back instead of playing 5-4-1 and sitting deep for example. He has to take some responsibility for game management, even if he has a long term vision that gets us pumped in the short term.
