I'd like to think, while I'm not a brain surgeon... I have enough about me to be rational but sceptical about some of the utterly bizarre shit people are seemingly now taking for gospel, that they find on social media/the interweb...

I had a builder round today who got thoroughly frothy between the thighs about some nonsense he'd watched involving some nut case and Mike Tyson eating "shrooms", while discussing the fact that Egypt holds the keys to lost civilisations that dispel all archeological findings to date...!

As he was leaving and we discussed some of the projects I work on, the conversation ebbed round to immigration and the phrase "fighting age males" tumbled from his lips...

I took the nonsense Mike Tyson Jackanory shit but challenged him on this and he soon backtracked, stating "yeah my Mrs gets the hump with me when I talk about this"...

I was curious if any of you fine fellows believed in anything specific (let's not do religion though eh),and would like to convince me over a bag of Shrooms...?

I've always held a very strong belief that we aren't the only sentient life in the universe.

When you look at the sheer scale of the observable universe as it is, the probability of sentient life surely has to be high?

I think it will be many, many thousands, if not millions, of years before our society ever came close to developing a way of finding out though which is kind of sad as I'd find it fascinating to see.

I'm not one for out and out conspiracies though. A former friend of mine was, and was even a flat earther to boot even though he'd flown to many places around the world over the years.

Mate the sheer size of the Universe means that the probability of "other life" is almost probable... Almost inevitable...

I agree it's be great to find something, and I think they'll end up finding some "life" once they start mining mars or whatever the fuck they're going to do. Some microorganism that's adapted to live in ice etc that blows our minds to bits on a scientific level...

I think the weak human phyce is to blame for a lot of these things gaining traction... People too ready to believe in shit without critically thinking about what they already know and science tells them.

I believe a talking snake told a woman, who was made from the rib of a bloke who was made out of mud to eat an apple. Then of course a geezer in the sky got the right screaming 'ump and punished the mud-man and the rib-woman for the 800 years they lived, and then he punished all their descendants for ever and ever. Makes sense really.

It's sad what people believe. There are a bunch of 'Fat activists' who have been spreading lies about how obesity is not linked to health problems, encouraging young people to eat themselves to death - literally, I think more than 6 of these 'influencers' have died before they reached 40. Incels, Qannoners, MAGAs, Brexits, flat-earthers, Christians, 'aliens probed me up my bumhole' types, transphobics, homophobics, racists, xenophobics, Tory party supporters, not a fucking brain cell between them.

My conspiracy theory is this...

A lot of conspiracies, maybe most, come from this question: Which is scarier, that there's a vast conspiracy that explains JFK, 9/11, Martians, COVID, and all that, or that the world is a random, arbitrary place where crazy shit sometimes happens for no apparent reason, often with catastrophic effects?

I also think conspiracy theories make us focus on the hidden forces covertly fucking us in the arse as part of some complicated secret agenda. Overlooking the reality that actual people are doing it in the cold light of day with pretty simple motives.
