Forest, Carrier bag Cup, Tonight

Forest are going to be giving this a good go. They're probably getting relegated so there's not much point saving players for Saturday's match against Palace and they will probably want to give their fans a bit of hope. Does Conte care about the EFL Cup? We will find out tonight. I think the team that finished the game at the weekend should be the starting team, I DO care about this cup, it's really the easiest to win and we could do with a shiney in the cabinet.

I've always kind of rated this cup for the same reasons really. The other teams in the top quarter of the league rarely take it seriously so it's always been something we should go for.

Seems to be an indication that Kane will start tonight at least so if that's true then it might be a sign of intent.

But then will he start the likes of Spence, Gil, Bissouma e.t.c. ??

When has Kane ever not started if he isn't injured...

He is flogged like a fucking workhorse.. but does seem to be a player who is at his best when consistently playing.

I feel Forest may rest / rotate some players as survival in the Prem is far more profitable & I doubt Cooper & the club would want to be dead last for an extended period of time during the WC break.

Furthermore, clubs like ManCity, Chelsea, & Liverpool seemingly value & take this Cup seriously based on their recent successes.

I think we should play a strong team aside from Kane. He can't play twice a week forever or he's gonna blow an o-ring. If we don't start Spence I may strangle Conte. Would love to win this, but we have to rest some players. Skipp and Moura should also get starts but we'll probably wheel out Son with a helmet.

Not playing particularly well, but we are at least showing an inclination to go forward.

You could say at least Woolwich are 2-1 down to Brighton but it still doesn't make me any less frustrated.

Conte's lost the plot. I'd say Levy's got the calculator out.

I can't imagine it would cost as much to get rid of him now since his contract is up at the end of the season.

Be cheaper than the cunt he replaced I suppose.

We've been 2-0 down in five of the last six games. We somehow managed to pull it out of the bag against Bournemouth, but we've lost the rest.

And Conte is the man to take us forward and win silverware ?

And that’s one more trophy we aren’t winning.

I guess we just don’t have the players to win away at the bottom team in the PL.

This was inevitable. Should have just rested everyone and played the outliers. Would have been the same result, but rest would have been had.

With the Chavs and Woolwich also out, I suppose you have to wonder if there was a 'quiet word' had before the game along the lines of "Don't fuss too much lads. The fixture pile-up next year won't be worth it".

But then - again - City show the way by taking the competition seriously.

So why did Conte pick a team that strong then?

Seems to me he wanted to win.

I know. It's just frustrated speculation from me really.

He was complaining about having to "over play his best players" in his post-match presser which is true, but then surely the game tonight would have been the ideal opportunity to give the likes of Spence and Gil the chance to see if they could produce the goods from the start ?

The man is an absolute basket case...

I think he has headed too many balls in his time and it's knocked something loose...

I'm way over him now.

Agreed. I'll criticize Conte for many things, but the man would cut off his own dick to win. He put a team out there that should have comfortably beaten Forest (who admittedly played well.) What he doesn't seem willing to do is to make anything more than the most superficial adjustments to his tactics.

I could be wrong, but I get the sense that Kane did not want to be on the pitch last night. Would imagine he wanted a nice rest before the WC. I know he never wants to sit, but this is different. Probably figures the WC is his best shot at a trophy. He literally did not run. Like even a little. I can feel something is up with him. Wonder if he's going to ask for a move again this summer. Can't say I would blame him.

Honestly, elite players from WC nations wouldn't be human if they didn't have this at least in the back of their minds. Players are well-paid and should always give their best, but imagine if you missed the World Cup because you did your hamstring away at Forest in the Carabao Cup.

The vast majority of match reports I've read picked up on Kane's behaviour and how he was barely involved.

Problem is, we've got one more game to go before the World Cup so I suspect we'll get a similar display at the weekend as well.

Yep. He only needs 7 more goals to take over from JG as the Spurs all time, bestest, top, goalscorer ever - he should get those goals easily. Then what is there left for him at Spurs? He deserves some trophies.

Might be best for all involved. We need SOOOO many new players and selling Kane might be the one way we could complete a rebuild. Problem is Conte probably won't stick around if we sell Kane, and what manager would take this job if Kane's not here? Levy is in a horrible spot. And he's a cunt.
