I'm not gonna lie about it, aside from the back four, whom I think have continued their form(minus the last few games)from last season into this, the rest of the side have seriously underwhelmed me so far. They look devoid of energy and ideas, and seriously seriously short of any pace.
The transfer business we have done has been average so far. I'm not completely gutted at the outgoings, maybe I was hoping Pritchard would be able to make the step up but I'm not losing any sleep over it. I'm hoping Dembele will come back and the whole shape and function of the team will fall back into place. One of the reasons we did so well last year was the continuity of the side, same X1, week after week, everyone complimenting each other. I think Eriksen will regain some form with the return of Dembele too.
So, that's my moaning minny bit over with and the heart of my point is this..
Give Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea Everton away, Palace at home and Liverpool at home and do they have 9 points? Unlikely.
Give us Bournemouth away, Southampton at home and Hull away
or
Sunderland at home, Stoke away and West Ham at home
or
West Ham at home, Watford away and Burnley at home
do we have 9 points? Possibly. Maybe. I'd expect at least 7.
So, it's not all bad, and we haven't really even got out of first gear yet. So though it seems I'm a bit miserable about it all I'm actually not. 2 wins in our next 2 will be very nice.

Hurry back Mousa.

Just a bit of Euro and extended holiday hangover I think, we probably need a couple more games to get up to full speed and make those final passes click into shape. Liverpool were a bit sharper than us on Saturday, but we remember we had 5 players in the starting XI for England plus 3 Belgians and they needed an extra break. As you pointed out we've also played Liverpool and Everton, two decent teams, so I'm not at all worried. Another 5-6 games and the league will start to take shape plus we'll have Mousa back.

Remember Harry didn't score until mid October last season and finished top scorer, nothing to worry about here in my view. We are creating chances and the defence is solid enough.

I think the performances are more the worrying thing, the actual points taken is probably on par with most seasons in the last few years in that we rarely managed to beat Everton away and Liverpool either home or away. Really need some improvement from our front four players in the next few games. Aside from getting Mousa back, it would certainly help to have one or two more direct players to be able to come on from the bench.

My glass is always more than half full......when it isn't, I top it up, usually with Stella 4, it's way nicer than the standard Stella. on special days it gets topped up with Kronenberg 1664, that's really tasty and after about 5 pints I go Numpty hunting.....which is great fun.
