No its not sergio aguero`s GPG stats, but can Harry actually beat Clive Allens 30 year old 49 goals in a season??
In 1987,I think the best spurs team since i began attending matches possibly?enabled Allen to score 49 goals in 54 games smashing jimmy`s and Chivers` previous club record of 42.It looked like a record for the ages, but well maybe not.Clive scored 33 league goals and 16 in other competitions and like Harry boy played as a lone striker,we had a couple of youngsters in the squad as back up with a newly arrived nico claesen with Bilko going on loan to watford that season. So much like today, reliant on one striker pretty much.
I will be honest I thought about starting this thread awhile back but sort of discounted it as a pipe dream which in todays game of rotation against "minnow" teams would be impossible for Kane to reach. And yet here we are mid february with Kane already up (just about) with last seasons magnificent 35 goals (in 38 games!!).Is it possible he can bag the 16 goals to catch Clive?if he scores 8 in a week like last season certainly, but it wont be helped by the fact the scum arent in champions league or the FA cup cos Harry boy does like a goal against the woolwich (as did clive!)
Clive scores another against woolwich.
and so does Harry!!
“The 86-87 season was a phenomenal season for me and one I’ll never forget,” said Clive, who scored 84 goals in 135 matches for us between 1984-88. “Whether or not anyone beats it...I’ll be honest, I hope they don’t! But if anyone can, it will be Harry, for sure.I grew up listening to my father Les (striker in our double-winning team of 1960-61) and Jimmy Greaves took his place in the double side. He told me he was the greatest goalscorer that’s ever been.I managed to beat his best total and I’m proud of that, and I see great things in Harry. It’s absolutely fantastic what he’s done.Don’t forget after that first season in 2014-15 people were saying’ well, it was a bit of a lucky season, a one-off’ but he’s now done it for three seasons, not one. To be that consistent at that level is phenomenal, especially in the modern game now.
“He’s in the best place to score goals – so anything is possible!”
The best thing about Kane is every time you think he cant do something or reach something he does,50 goals in a season,in this day and age,impossible..
Over to you Harry.......
Even if he doesnt,he will still score more goals than sanchez, welbeck, giroud, mick the tarian,aubamer-bang average, walcott, lacazette combined for woolwich this year, now there`s a thought to make you smile.
