Tottenham Hotspur Stadium confirmed as host venue for EURO 2028

• UEFA EURO 2028 to be the largest ever sporting event jointly hosted by UK & Ireland
• Club Chairman, Daniel Levy, alongside Club Ambassador, Ledley King, welcomed Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan and community representatives to the stadium to celebrate its inclusion
• Spurs legend, Gareth Bale, played a leading role in UK & Ireland bid presentation to UEFA in Nyon
• Tournament committed to delivering an innovative and sustainable UEFA EURO to create economic, environmental and social legacies
To mark the historic occasion, Club Chairman, Daniel Levy, alongside Club Ambassador, Ledley King, welcomed Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, Statutory Deputy Mayor for London and Assembly Member for Enfield and Haringey, Joanne McCartney, the Leader of Haringey Council, Peray Ahmet and the Chief Executive of Haringey Council, Andy Donald to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to celebrate its inclusion.
Daniel Levy, Chairman, Tottenham Hotspur, said: "It was always our vision that the stadium would create a new sport, leisure and entertainment destination in London - to be named as one of the host venues for UEFA EURO 2028 is testament to what we have created here. Our stadium has become renowned for its unique atmosphere and we are excited for fans from across Europe to come and experience this in five years' time.
"The impact of a major international football tournament coming to London N17 will be huge for the area of Tottenham and leave a significant legacy. We are already starting to see the socio-economic benefits being delivered locally as a result of the increased number of events and the local spending it creates.
"Furthermore, having some of the continent’s best players perform on the biggest stage right on their doorstep is sure to inspire the next generation of young male and female footballers from the local area."
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: "London is the undisputed sporting capital of the world - and I am absolutely delighted that we have been chosen to host a record number of games at UEFA EURO 2028 as part of a joint United Kingdom and Ireland bid.
"The capital has hosted numerous major sporting events that are etched in the memory of Londoners and visitors, including the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and men and women’s EUROs.
"Wembley and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium are two of the most iconic sporting venues in the world and I have no doubt that London will give a great welcome to fans from across the world who come to enjoy the UEFA EURO 2028."
Cllr Peray Ahmet, Leader of Haringey Council and Andy Donald, Chief Executive of Haringey Council, said: "It is amazing news that Tottenham has been named as one of the host venues for Euro 2028 and this is a memorable day for everyone connected with Haringey. We are so proud to be part of one of the biggest global events on the sporting calendar and it truly puts our borough on the map.
"We want to say a big congratulations to Tottenham for being the only stadium apart from Wembley to stage games in London. We will be welcoming people from across Europe and the rest of the world into Haringey to see everything that we have to offer and will work to maximise the benefits this will bring to local communities and businesses.
"This will mean so much for the people of Tottenham and we should be proud of the fact that the whole world will be watching us."

I'm not sure pal, but they're dificult when Spurs are good I remember it from the Poch days... being pissed that half our squad was playing plumbers from Estonia while the rest of the Prem rested for 2 weeks...!

Yeah, back when it mattered (to me at least),I remember actually hoping for an injury during the off-season. Cuz, you know, then it won't happen when it counts, right?

Nice Irish feel to the England set up these days. Not only have you Rice & Grealish but now Carsley. It's getting like the 90's when the Irish dressing room was full of Londeners, Scousers, and Geordies. 😂
Niall Quinn told a great one about Italia 90.
We'd just been beaten by Italy in the Quarter Finals. The players are in the dressing room, heads down, you could hear a pin drop. Then the doors open and there's the Taoiseach (Prime Minister),Charlie Haughey. All the Irish lads look in amazement. He then made this incredible speech, hairs standing on the back of your neck job. He finishes....dead silence....then Tony Cascarino pipes up and says " WHO THE FUCK'S THAT ??"
Quinny turns to him and says half embarrassed " That's the Taoiseach". Andy Townsend turns to Cas and says " Who is he ?...and Cas says "Quinny says he owns a tea shop".

Good Times.

👋👏 Uhm, I care.
Hehehe, fair enough. To be honest nobody here cares either, except for a few weird footy fans that don't make sense to anyone else.

And, let it be said, as much as I love those players, Soccer Canada is a disgrace of an organization. The administrators are either yes-men (or women),incompetent, corrupt, or all of the above. The "sponsors" are actually parasites.

But hey, I love watching them play.

An 'acquaintance' of mine (ie someone I used to play against) joined Soccer Canada's board & was intent on shaking things up. In fact, he eventually became president. He quickly realized it was an Old Boys Network. They tied his hands & he could do nothing about it. It will not change unless there is a clearout.

I visited Canada for my honeymoon, we did Niagara and Toronto. Absolutely loved the place, very nearly moved to live there. We were looking at properties at Niigara-on-the-lake, what a beautiful place.

Problem was work, all that area is paid for by tourism.

Yes, Niagara-on-the-Lake is beautiful but it very seasonal. Was there summer 2023.

As for the Canadian economy, they now turn off the water at Niagara Falls at night to conserve energy. 😲

We're well off topic, so I'm due some virtual slaps, but aside from all the mountains, lakes and scary wildlife, we've got beer that's second to none. If you drank bad beer whilst you were here, it's 'cause you didn't look hard enough, or you were in the wrong pubs.

I'm Norn Irish, if it's not great Guinness it's not great beer!

Only messing had a few decent pints while I was over but must admit it wasn't a drinking holiday.
