Today was that day, the day we go to the British supermarket in Xabia to buy the ingredients for the Christmas cake. Black treacle, currants, marzipan are not easily found in Spain so we become expats for one day of the year and go to the place that sells all that British goodness -and a whole lot of crap, they even have a whole section full of British dog and cat food because those Brex-pets won't eat that Spanish food will they? Xabia is a nice place, we had a nice lunch out on the seafront at our favourite restaurant with all the 'proper expats' who live there, €25 for two lunches, that included 4 beers and 2 coffees, they've even got a Specsavers in Xabia or Javea, depending if you are hablaring in Spanish or Valencian. We also went to Yorkshire Linen to buy a sofa cover as well - the full on expat experience!

The irony was that after filling up our tank for €1.28 a litre, no queues, the shelves in the British supermarket were all full, the freezers were full of pies and fast-food shite, digestive biscuits were there in abundance and I have to admit I was tempted, I do like a nice digestive biccie! I don't know how true the stories are of your supermarkets being empty are, but if you want to do your shopping then just nip over to Spain, we've got all your stuff, plenty of petrol and plenty of drivers to whizz it round the country.

I read a theory about the petrol crisis. I am not one for conspiracies, but this does come across as believable

The government make a lot of money from the sale of petrol, but petrol does expire. Millions of people over the last 2 years have not been using cars to travel.

This means, the government has a massive stockpile of petrol and are faced with losing a lot of money.

So, in cahoots with the media and the petrol companies, they create a panic, people buy petrol they don’t need and the government does not lose out.

Also, add into that conspiracy that the Labour Party conference is taking place where they are getting tons of PR opportunities to hammer the Goverment...

Labour's biggest moment since ditching the Loony Leftie Cobyn has been resigned to the footnotes of all news reports, all newspapers and anywhere else that even resembles a news outlet...

Timing.... is the key.

I certainly agree that all the problems in the UK have been caused by and worsened by Johnson and his Brexit, but it's nice that here in the EU, the place Farage and those loonies in the ERG called 'failing' and predicted the collapse of when the UK left, we have no shortages. The deviousness of the Brexits is so transparent when they say the EU has 4 times the shortage of drivers, yeah right comparing one country with 27 is totally valid, ha ha, Project Fear eh?

I know the chances of the UK rejoining the EU soon are slim, they will eventually but the stupid is still strong in the Brexits. But rejoining the Single Market and the Customs Union and bringing back Freedom of Movement, which is the lifeblood of many countries, especially the UK is really a no-brainer.
