The answer is yes.
It`s not about connectivity,your broadband provider,no 4G signal,this thread is about what has become of Tim Berners-lee`s idea of information/communication for everyone.
I got to thinking about all the transfer bollocks spouted and whilst communicating with my inner Bob Marley,I had a sort of eureka epiphany moment as my mind connected the dots as to why so many lies,so much divisiveness,so much hate and anger.So I stopped thinking about Piers Morgan and thought more on the issue.
The Dream.
More information,no more secret states,more communication,more freedom,more choices and 2019 we have ended up here.More lies,more arguments,more division,more control for a few,more a nightmare than a dream.What went wrong?well initially as I said I was thinking about all the back pages,the constant bullshit about a mere sport,which is probably more important than religion to most of us who indulge the beautiful game.I cant remember exactly when nearly everything you read from journalists became so banal,untrue but I dont remember it being so obvious as currently even 5 years ago,certainly not a decade back?.Yes the press have always spun stories,lied,thats human nature, support your own belief/agenda no matter what,you can send youths to far away places to make war on such untruths,and that has been the way since man first picked up a rock to smash a neighbours skull in,or to crusade because someone tells you it is the thing to do.But why make up stuff about a mere sport?to galvanise a nation to fight I can get the manipulation its so obvious,but 2,000 articles about Kane to Man utd,Madrid,Barcelona,just why?
The Reality.
The answer is revenue,and bringing both strands together why sport reporting is so,not even reported just lied about,and why the internet is so fucked is because what Mr Berners-lee didnt reckon on was humanity learning to monetise,literally anything.Did he forsee the domination of markets by microsoft,google,facebook,twitter,amazon?probably not.Humans learnt to make money from the equipment needed,but that wasnt enough,they learnt to make money from platforms to communicate on,and that too wasnt enough,so now they have learnt to make money on content,any content,the more ridiculous the content the more you have to look at it,even though you know it is bollocks.Click is the new keerching.Recently the other human trait of the millenium jumped onboard the internet highway,celebrity.It was enough to have your fame,inflate your ego,then the internet also allowed you or any muppet to become a celebrity and rich,robbie and AFTV is just the pioneering bunch of this new breed of vermin as an example.The more fucking stupid they act up,the more money they earn as people click to view the circus clowns.How is this possible??yes i can understand a platform paying to bring traffic to it,but really has anyone ever clicked on a pop up ad and thought i must buy something and give them some money??How this amount of money is generated with advertisers paying is beyond me.
The Future.
Well unless someone drops the biggest EMP and knocks out all electricity,it`s here to stay.The health both physical and mental of humanity,the addiction, I wonder what is more out of control climate change or behavioral change.The cat is out the bag and sitting at a desk controlling us.The original thoughts of are the evil media just taking the piss??well yes they are,always have,but in a world of so much lying,speculation far easier to lie in print or on television now.Governments cant control it,the platforms making billions cant control or police it, it`s the wild west out there.Has anybody on here never watched a free stream,listened to free music,watched free pay for TV?Fair enough I couldnt recommend ripping off Murdoch enough,why shouldnt I be able to watch BBC in Greece because they pay to show top gear.Its all fair game isnt it?If it comes down to not paying I am all in,hands up I am part of the problem,why would I want to pay Sky/BT over £100 a month to watch a handfull of spurs games?yes the quality is better,but in this age its so marginal.
And thats the takeaway from this,take the parts you want and disregard the rest.There should come a time when we are sick of everyone elses shitty lives and concentrate on our own.Take the good and ignore the rest.There is a lot of good in the "net",but you wont find it in this thread!! Is it the internet that has gone wrong,or the fact money is to be made easily from it?
