About two weeks ago we offered cash plus a player that palace like ,the offer equated to 50 million based on palace valuation of the player call it 40 million give or take plus a player

palace are adamant they want 70 so we are about 20 million apart

unfortunately as things stand palace are not interested in any of our other outgoing squad players , I personally think palace valuation of the player was harsh
maybe there will be some movement in both valuations

The thing with Mendes though is he's always juggling. You can say "well if we had done it quicker it would have been different" but Mendes would have still have shopped him around last minute. It's just how he operates and always has.

I don't disagree that we could/should move quicker in general. I've said this for years, but Mendes is a different level to all other agents in how he does business. There are very few guarantee's in football but there are less when Mendes is involved.

Not sure why we even bother dealing with Mendes, especially when we’re never going to match what he’s looking for. Our only chance to get one of his players is when no other club wants the player. We rely on that too many times unfortunately.

On the younger players, had a convo regarding our youth and how well the U18 and 23s done last season. I mentioned a few names and the reply was “there’s a huge transition to take the next step and make it into regular first team, Mikey Moore has the best chance”.

TBH I thought a few other names would cement themselves but he wasn’t convinced and simply stated “we’ll see”.

Still trying for a winger but getting one of the top few names on our list has proven to be more difficult than anticipated. As I mentioned in a post a few days ago, if there isn't a breakthrough in negotiations with one of the two players we believe are significant upgrades, we'll be faced with the decision of either spending significant money on a player who may be somewhere between 0 and 10% better than what we have, or keeping our financial powder dry until January in the hope that someone higher up the list shakes loose.

we are still working on in's and outs, and I definitely expect movement on both fronts. there are loads of rumours doing the rounds and players being offered from everywhere. From what I understand right now we are still blocking all this out. We compiled a list of options for a reason and the focus is still on bringing in what we need from that list.

From what I know, and will not share here. We will be very happy soon enough. All key positions covered that was identified by Ange. Club has cleaned up on leaks. These deals and discussions being held with only a very few in the club. Agents are notified to get their pencils out, when funds are ready to be released. Strategically they agree with club and players, allow a red herring leak, whilst they continue in stealth. This latest one today could not be leaked as other clubs were hovering. I am told there was a top 5 club who were keen. We wanted it wrapped up, and agreed to pay a certain amount more to get it done this week.
