We are the away team, weird. But we are also the home team, nice.

Interesting FA Cup and Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United facts:

The highest number of goals scored in a Tottenham vs United game was 8:
  • FA Cup, Wednesday, 1 February 1899, Manchester United 3 Tottenham Hotspur 5
  • League Division One, Wednesday, 24 October 1962, Tottenham Hotspur 6 Manchester United 2
  • Premier League, Saturday, 29 September 2001, Tottenham Hotspur 3 Manchester United 5
We have played Manchester United 15 times in FA Cup games:
  • 15 matches played, Manchester United won 5, we won 5 and drew 5
The first time we played Manchester United:
  • FA Cup on Saturday, 28 January 1899.
  • Tottenham Hotspur were playing at home that day and the final score was Tottenham Hotspur 1 Manchester United ( Newton Heath ) 1
The last time we played them:
  • Premier League game on Wednesday, 31 January 2018,
  • The score was Tottenham Hotspur 2 Manchester United 0

After the last time we played them I can see Maureen parking two buses and killing the game with his particular brand of non attacking counter attacking football! He's done it with great results in the past so fancy a return to type, hopefully we've learned as a team how to deal with this.

Get a goal early on and it's game on as they will have to come out. Concede first and it's going to be an awful gut wrenching watch. Either 1-0 to them or 3-1 to us.

JM may very well park the bus but it will be in a 15 minute max zone as we will put one by them & then they'll have to move it & play out. Hence, they'll play into our hands.

I fear a tactical Mourinho masterclass as per the last time we played his Chelsea team in a cup game at Wembley. He played Zouma a centre back in midfield to stifle Eriksen and our creative/attacking threat. Poch will know this of course and have worked out a cunning plan. Someone like Moura needs to be on the bench as our secret weapon in case all of our other weapons have been firing blanks.

The boring Portuguese One will want to win 1-0 and we can't let that happen. I'd rather throw everything at them (because they'll defend and try and nick a goal) and lose 4-2 than watch JM be smug with his anti football tactics.

These fears might all be groundless of course, we'll score early, they have to attack and we pick them off, Liverpool/Madrid style and win 3-1. Who the fuck knows, but any sort of win will do and break this horrible losing semi-final streak that we're on. Decisions, decisions - Toby or Sanchez, Demble/Dier for sure, Son or Lamela, Kane or Llorente (ha ha)

COYS let's do this.

It won't happen I suspect but I would really like Toby on the field. Other than that not much to change really.

The lads will be well up for this. We have to do them or this season will begin to sink quite quickly.

FA cup is my favourite trophy so I'd love us to get it.

Ok , the fact that on Sat , Spurs are playing at Home, sorry I mean the neutral ground of Wembley, the FA have decided to even things up by awarding Anthony Taylor , born in Wythenshaw, just 5.1 miles from old Trafford the gig. Apparently him being an Altrincham fan allows this to be ok , because only 75% of Altrincham fans , have Man Utd as their first temapreferrence, so that’s ok .
They also have Kevin Freind as the 4th official , who since we got him tKen off a game 2 seasons ago , because of his allegiances to Leicester , has done us zero favours, hence the slightly iffy pen the other night.

Getting excited now lads. Just get a win any way, any how! We gotta play better than we have done in the last two games. I fancy Kane and Dele both to score to be honest.

Another exceptionally frustrating game to watch. Other than the 1st 20, Kane, Alli & Sonny offered next to nothing. The crossing was dreadful, passing and the little tricks in the final third weren’t much better. The Mourinho bus was well and truly parked and they implemented it very well but we knew that was gonna happen, we just didn’t play well enough.

I’m so disappointed!

U not what I'm not even mad, just disappointed. All we always hear is players wanting to leave to win trophies, and yet here we are playing the worst United back line in history and can't get near them. Then after the game Pochettino says we showed we can compete. Well no we didn't as we can beat United in the league but when it really comes down to it we bottle it.

You know what I am fucking mad.

And if Kane isn't right he shouldn't be on. He hasn't moved for 3 games now.

or a Harry Kane who looks like his ankle has had fucking botox.

We got well Mou'd AGAIN, sick and tired of this bloke, he's a pox on the game. How the fuck can Man U fans after all the years of SAF stand it? Also, what the fuck was Davies doing for the second? Shall I shan't I Oh you've scored, I'll just stand here then.

Dier had a good game mind and Jan was immense. Probably says everything considering we had majority possession.

I'm so frustrated, but if I think about the game and the way we gave them two goals then really it's fury so I try not to.

Fucken hell.

Why the fuck was Vorm keeping in the semi of the FA Cup? The second goal may or may not have been saved by Lloris but I am almost certain that his positioning would have been better.

And that was the worst game Dembele has played in a couple of years. Pogba absolutely mugged him. Fuck.

I haven't been so angry for fucking years, I don't know how much longer I can stay in this abusive relationship. I have always wondered about women who stay with blokes who beat them up, I thought they were mental, then I realised this fucking team has been doing it to me for over 50 fucking years. If I still owned guns it might have got fucking messy. Fucking nazis posting here, fucking team fucking my brain over, fucking Brexit, fucking cunts., I am getting close to the fucking edge, time to have a break I think so fuck you all for a while, I might be back, who knows.

I get all that, and with regard just to Spurs, I hated the Juve result also from 1-0 up earlier in the season.I know that I shouldn't but i fucking hate watching us lose a 'big' game and just when you thought we'd finally lost the Spursy tag, we haven't.

It will take a while, but I'll get over it at some stage. After all, I used to slag so called 'supporters' off in another place, so I can't do it now. But I do wonder what the difference is, is it just we're unlucky or something else, like simply not good enough on the day, There was a worrying article in the Times yesterday and reported elsewhere when Poch talked about our 'direction'...'with me or someone else'....is he thinking of leaving? Is Poch's own lack of experience in the big games the problem? Does he also need the money that Mourinho, Conte, Pep and others crave to build successful teams. Has he done as much as he can?

And then I put everything in context and realise that for most of the last 40+ years supporting Spurs, I'd never seen us play in the Champions League, let alone beating teams like Real Madrid and Dortmund. I'd rarely seen us come runners up in the top division, or come third, competing regularly and winning against the wealthiest and best teams in the league. The doom and despair happened so much more often it didn't hurt anything like as much as this season. Perhaps that's the real story, the real truth. Things have changed so much, we're now at an entirely different level, or at least almost.

The final piece of the new jigsaw is White Hart lane. I saw it with my own eyes last Thursday night. It's magnificent and changing the face of one of the poorest areas of London. I hope those that have worked there, will work there and live nearby all benefit.

So I'm hurting, angry, pissed off, frustrated and disappointed as the next bloke and this can't keep happening. But there is a project going on at Spurs from the training centre, to the management, to the stadium and the team. There's going to be mistakes and bumps in the road along the way, but things are getting better, we are feared now. That never used to happen.

So @Dorset if you could just do the Matchday thread for Watford, and nothing else well that would be great, it keeps old superstitious farts like me happy. Ta.

Edit - I also forgot to mention Spurs now being the top club in North London, for the first time according to League position in a very long time. Yep fuck off back to Woolwich gooners.

I have seen a complete meltdown on social media, dont dare to be a "happy clapper" whatever the fuck that means??enic out, poch is clueless, kane has gone lame, dembele is shite again blah fucking blah blah blah..........Well comparisons made with redknapp and how we havent progressed after a bad fortnight or so And yet no one remembers we finished behind arse for 22 years, used to be mid table, improved to get into europe (remember we`re all going on a european tour),now we will be champions league 3 times in a row, above arse again, top london club, yes we havent won a trophy again which is bollocks but whilst everyone is wanking off klopp and scousemania, they finished one time above us in donkeys years, have 1 trophy in 10 years same as us......just a bit of perspective is required.

We have issues, everyside does, chelsea, madrid, barca, psg, arsenal probably will all change manager this summer,we need some new players, but who fucking doesnt.4 bad results and suddenly its awful following spurs again.Self entitled bollocks which belongs on arsenalfantv.

As gutted and disappointed as I am losing when we had every chance to win,but we didnt,we lost to a very experienced dark arts manager,a team costing what £500m more than ours and a ref from altringham which is in manchester!!!.Its great to feel gutted we lost, shows we are there abouts, but its not so fucking awful is it????We will finish 3rd or 4th,and should have the power to spend and massively improve the team,

What a bunch of pansy arsed followers we have in some quarters, never forget often 90mins of football is what spoils a good day out.Get angry cos we lost to man utd in a semi final or to juve,no problem with that, but then it used to be angry at losing to portsmouth, blackburn,PAOK,bayerliversauasage .Are we really too good to lose to top european sides sometimes???

Before the season and after the first few weeks so many people were predicting we would tank the league and bomb out in the CL. This game was frustrating because we didn’t capitalise on that period of the game where we were all over them. All three teams I follow lost a final this week. The only good thing in football for me this week was winning the game I played in.

I'm still not over this game hope the players are somehow picking themselves up and getting up for Watford. A few good wins to finish the season off and we'll have CL football again next season. It's not a trophy I know but it's nice to play the big boys especially in our new home. Onwards and upwards, with a heavy heart at the moment.
