I get all that, and with regard just to Spurs, I hated the Juve result also from 1-0 up earlier in the season.I know that I shouldn't but i fucking hate watching us lose a 'big' game and just when you thought we'd finally lost the Spursy tag, we haven't.
It will take a while, but I'll get over it at some stage. After all, I used to slag so called 'supporters' off in another place, so I can't do it now. But I do wonder what the difference is, is it just we're unlucky or something else, like simply not good enough on the day, There was a worrying article in the Times yesterday and reported elsewhere when Poch talked about our 'direction'...'with me or someone else'....is he thinking of leaving? Is Poch's own lack of experience in the big games the problem? Does he also need the money that Mourinho, Conte, Pep and others crave to build successful teams. Has he done as much as he can?
And then I put everything in context and realise that for most of the last 40+ years supporting Spurs, I'd never seen us play in the Champions League, let alone beating teams like Real Madrid and Dortmund. I'd rarely seen us come runners up in the top division, or come third, competing regularly and winning against the wealthiest and best teams in the league. The doom and despair happened so much more often it didn't hurt anything like as much as this season. Perhaps that's the real story, the real truth. Things have changed so much, we're now at an entirely different level, or at least almost.
The final piece of the new jigsaw is White Hart lane. I saw it with my own eyes last Thursday night. It's magnificent and changing the face of one of the poorest areas of London. I hope those that have worked there, will work there and live nearby all benefit.
So I'm hurting, angry, pissed off, frustrated and disappointed as the next bloke and this can't keep happening. But there is a project going on at Spurs from the training centre, to the management, to the stadium and the team. There's going to be mistakes and bumps in the road along the way, but things are getting better, we are feared now. That never used to happen.
So
@Dorset if you could just do the Matchday thread for Watford, and nothing else well that would be great, it keeps old superstitious farts like me happy. Ta.
Edit - I also forgot to mention Spurs now being the top club in North London, for the first time according to League position in a very long time. Yep fuck off back to Woolwich gooners.
