So there I was watching Frasier this morning perusing the forum with a cuppa when I noticed the bottom half of the tv screen had gone much darker than the top half! Not good me thinks so a google later and it turns out the back lights are on their way out, brilliant.

Upshot is I need a new tv for the final and going to have to act fast as I'm away from Tuesday till Friday!

Wanted to know what brands people recommend, the one we have now is Samsung but after this I'm just about done with them and the 2 dodgy phones I've had.

Most of the TV's now days are made by the same people and rebranded. But I've always gone got LG's and Samsungs as a rule. I've got a few cheaper ones in the kids bedroom and my office ( Hiachi and JVC ) and the quality difference in picture, remote control and TV unit touch and feel is very clear to see.

Can't go wrong with Panasonic and Sony's, Their pictures are always mint when viewing against other brands in Curry's but you also pay the price for something that only looks very slightly crisper than a LG or Samsung and a fraction of the price imo.

We've found that in Spain, we were looking for some new lady equipment - oven, hob and microwave and thought we'd go for Bosch because they have a good name, but talking to some Spaniels they told us that Balay, the Spanish main company for those mysterious machines that make the food - are actually exactly the same as Bosch and made by the same company - except 100's of euros cheaper.

Thanks everyone, I was leaning towards LG as I've heard good things about them from others so this has helped a lot.

My best friend works in the financial sector, specializing & dealing with Far East corporations.
Says each major brand essentially purchases from the same manufacturers.

I’ve had loads of tvs and the best of them are the Sony Bravia range ,they update the series regular so some great deals out there ,I’ve the 55 inch 4k jobbie smart tv was only 1400 Euro and it’s the Bollox picture sound etc top notch,I paired with the Sony sound bar and tbh it’s overkill some whack off it

LG. they make the screens for most of the other manufacturers. Plus their smart TV is better than most.

Bought the 65" UHD LED last year, could not be more pleased.
