There were several articles around this weekend in the newspapers. here is is just one from the Telegraph Sport similarly repeated in the Times, personally I think 'loyalty bonus' are absolutely ridiculous and the money is obscene. We are quick to condemn Levy (rightly so) but at least he has taken on risk, significantly grown a business and a football club in the face of stiff opposition, provided thousands of jobs and is helping to regenrate communities and a deprived area of London. Footballers themselves mostly give little back to anyone outside the directives of the club or their families. It's a diabolical situation really.

Manchester United gave Alexis Sanchez a contract that could earn him more than £25 million a year should he hit all his bonuses, including £75,000 for every game he starts, according to the latest Football Leaks revelations.
The confidential contract information of a number of leading Premier League players has been published by the German magazine Der Spiegel in the book Football Leaks: Uncovering The Dirty Deals Behind the Beautiful Game, laying out the eye-watering terms for some of the big deals of the last two transfer windows.
Sanchez, who joined United from Arsenal in a deal in which Henrikh Mkhitaryan went the other way, is alleged to earn a basic salary of £391,000 a week with £75,000 paid as a bonus for every first team game he starts. The book’s allegations, published by The Daily Mail, also allege that the 29 year-old, who has a five-year deal at United, is entitled to a £1.1 million annual signing-on fee.
In addition, he could earn £2m for reaching a combination of 40 goals and assists; £1m if United win the Champions League and £500,000 for winning the Premier League. The numbers reveal just what a strong position Sanchez put himself in by running his contract down to its final five months and insisting that his financial demands be met. Jose Mourinho has defended the player’s occasionally indifferent form, saying that he will be better next season.

Arsenal replaced him with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang whose contract details Der Spiegel also claim to have seen including a £2.26m Champions League bonus which he will allegedly receive despite Arsenal finishing sixth this season. Aubameyang will earn £198,000 a week, totalling £10.3m annually, with a £15.15m loyalty bonus payable over the next three years. He will earn £300,000 for getting a combined 25 goals and assists in a season and £50,000 for each match he starts that Arsenal win.

Mkhitaryan commanded less than those two but, despite failing to make the grade at United, he will earn £7.5m annually at Arsenal for three years and that will rise to £12.5m if the club decide to exercise an option to keep him. By comparison, the season’s outstanding player, Mohamed Salah, seems to have been acquired relatively cheaply by Liverpool. He is on a weekly wage of £123,030 and has hit his £2.5m bonus target of 35 combined goals and assists.
Virgil Van Dijk, who commanded a record-breaking £70m fee for a defender when Liverpool signed him from Southampton in January, earned a weekly basic wage of £124,658 with a £6m bonus on signing. He was given a £5m loyalty bonus and another £4m loyalty bonus on playing 150 games. He is also incentivised per clean sheet the team keeps, starting at 18, as well as £20,000 for every goal he scores.

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku, who signed for £75m from Everton in the summer, is on a £7.8m basic salary and a £4.5m bonus for 50 combined goals and assists – a number which he has fallen short of this season. He also has a £2.4m loyalty payment and £1.96m in payments for marketing rights. Gylfi Sigurdsson would have earned another £2.5m had Everton qualified for the Champions League.

Toby Alderweireld is in the news right now over the club's struggle to agree fresh terms with the Belgian central defender. The future of star striker Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and manager Mauricio Pochettino are also often hitting the headlines with talk of potential new deals.

Hugo Lloris – 2022

The club captain has more than four years to run on his contract which he signed back in December 2016, making him one of the club's top earners. If Lloris sees out that contract he will have served the club for an entire decade.

Michel Vorm – 2018
Vorm is the only player in the first team whose contract expires this summer. He signed a one-year extension to his contract in December 2016 which now has just three months to run.

Paulo Gazzaniga - 2022
The Argentine signed a five-year deal when he moved to Spurs from Southampton last summer. With Vorm's potential departure, Gazzaniga could step up next season as back-up goalkeeper to Lloris.

Kieran Trippier – 2022

Trippier has seen off the challenge of Kyle Walker and is edging the battle with summer signing Serge Aurier for the right-back spot and he was rewarded last July with a new five year deal. That replaced the five-year deal the 27-year-old inked when he signed in 2015.

The 25-year-old Ivory Coast international signed a five year deal when he was bought by Spurs for £24m from PSG last summer.

Toby Alderweireld – 2020
The Belgian's contract is the main topic of discussion right now. It expires in 2019, but the club have an option to extend it by a further year. However, using that option would trigger a £25m release clause for the Belgian that can be activated before the final two weeks of the 2019 summer transfer window.

Davinson Sanchez - 2024
The club record signing penned an improved six-year contract at the end of the season following his move from Ajax last summer. The club have high hopes for the 21-year-old, who has taken to Premier League life like a duck to water, and that is reflected in his long term deal.

Jan Vertonghen – 2019
Vertonghen was one of many of the club’s players to commit their future to Spurs towards the end of 2016. He signed a new deal in December that year, which runs out in 2019. The Belgian turns 31 next month and has been one of the club's most consistent performers. Pochettino has already indicated he will be handed a new deal.

Juan Foyth - 2022
Pochettiino has high hopes for the young Argentine and believes he can become one of the best defenders in the Premier League and Europe.

Danny Rose – 2021
Rose signed his last new deal in September 2016. If he were to see out his five-year contract he would have been a Spurs player for 14 years, but his future remains unclear. The left-back has had an injury-hit 14 months or so and has struggled to win back the left-back spot from Ben Davies.

Ben Davies – 2021
The Welshman penned a new four-year deal a year ago. Davies has only improved since then and become Pochettino's first choice left-back.

Cameron Carter-Vickers – 2021
The 20-year-old central defender signed a new three-year deal last summer before heading out to Sheffield United on loan. He has since been recalled and sent out on another loan to Ipswich Town and the next step of his future will be decided when he returns this summer.

Kyle Walker-Peters – 2021
Not long after making his Premier League debut with a man of the match performances in the season opener at Newcastle United, Walker-Peters was handed a new three-year deal to match his first team status. The full-back then extended his deal by a further year after the completion of the league campaign.

Eric Dier - 2021
Dier's last new deal came almost two years ago, when he penned a fresh five year contract. There has been plenty of interest from Manchester United since and the player has continued to be a regular in Pochettino's team. The 24-year-old England international is another who is due a new contract in the coming months.

Victor Wanyama – 2021
Wanyama was one of Spurs’ best players in his first season with the club, although his campaign this time around has been disrupted by a knee injury and recovery. He still has three years remaining on the five-year deal he inked when he joined the club from Southampton in the summer of 2016.

Mousa Dembele – 2019
After a slow start to the season, the Belgian midfielder has managed to showcase some of his best performances in a Tottenham shirt despite dealing with his usual niggling injuries. The Belgian has two years left on the deal he signed back in January 2016 and is reportedly asking for a longer deal than the club are willing to give, but Pochettino will not want to let his "genius" go.

Christian Eriksen – 2020
Another who will be near the front of the queue for a new contract in the coming months. The 26-year-old Dane last signed a four-year deal in September 2016. The likes of Barcelona are said to be keen on the midfield magician, but the player is happy at Spurs and the club will reward him.

Dele Alli – 2022
The 21-year-old is set to be offered yet another new contract ahead of the World Cup to ward off interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. The England international last signed a new deal back in September 2016.

Erik Lamela – 2020
There are options aplenty of Lamela's contract. He signed a four-year deal when he joined Spurs in 2013, but there was the option to extend it by two years which was taken by the club. There is also another option to extend it by a further year, taking the midfielder up to 2020. The Argentine has returned well from long term problems with his hips and has reached his previous levels this season on the pitch and the club are expected to trigger that further year option.

Harry Winks – 2023
Highly-rated Winks signed a new deal in February last year, having only put pen to paper on a new contract five months earlier. The 22-year-old has since made his England debut and some fine performances in the Premier League and Champions League, but has been stricken with ankle injuries this season.

Moussa Sissoko – 2021
The 28-year-old signed a five-year deal when he joined Spurs for a then club record £30m fee in the summer of 2016.

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou – 2021
The 23-year-old is currently at Burnley on loan after failing to force his way into Pochettino’s plans. He signed a five-year contract when he joined Spurs in the summer of 2016.

Lucas Moura - 2023
The Brazilian signed a five-and-a-half year deal when he joined Spurs from PSG in January for £23m.

Josh Onomah -2021
Before joining Aston Villa on loan last summer, Onomah penned a fresh four-year deal with Spurs. Like Carter-Vickers, the next step for the 20-year-old will be decided on his return this summer.

Marcus Edwards - 2020
Edwards inked a three-year deal with the club in July last year.

Heung-Min Son – 2020
Yet another player who is expected to be handed fresh terms in the coming months to renew the five-year deal the South Korean star signed when he joined in August 2015. Son has gone from strength to strength with every passing season.

Harry Kane – 2022
Kane is expected to be become the club's highest ever earner with a new deal in the coming months. The prolific goalscorer last signed a five-and-a-half year deal in December 2016.

Vincent Janssen – 2020
Currently on loan and injured at Fenerbahce, the 23-year-old Netherlands international penned a four-year deal following his move from AZ Alkmaar in July 2016. His future is likely to lie elsewhere next season.

Fernando Llorente - 2019
The Spaniard inked a two-year deal when he signed from Swansea last summer. Another who could find himself signing elsewhere next season.

Mauricio Pochettino - 2021
The Spurs boss signed his last deal, along with his coaching staff, in May 2016. The Argentine penned a five-year deal and after his team's performances in the Premier League and Champions League, while playing away from home at Wembley, with an FA Cup semi-final, a new deal is expected to be offered.
