I saw the fixture list a few days ago and it's actually pretty decent. We seem to have a much wider spread of games against the likes of City, Liverpool and Woolwich e.t.c. than we did last season where we played a lot of them one after the other.

And the run in is the stuff of dreams :)

Glad to see our academy is working well anyway. Good man Danny.

That directive comes from the top at every club imo. There is something very wrong if we boast probably the best academy facilities in the PL and produce nothing good enough to break into our first team and stay there.

I've said quite a few times the lack of academy products recently coming through bothers me more than the lack of high-profile transfers. But I honestly think that will change this season. Last season, it was like we had a handful of academy kids on the cusp, but not quite able to get in the squad regularly. Looks like at least a couple of them have a good chance of breaking through this year and getting significant minutes.

We still had one of the youngest squads in the PL last season, and that's bearing in mind the fact that our previous manager is well known to have little time or patience for young players. But it would be nice to have lots of academy kids knocking on the door like Liverpool.

Somewhat related: From a financial standpoint, I seriously wonder, when you add it up, is it cheaper to develop players from an early age, or to buy them at, say, 19 (like Bergvall, Udogie, Phillips, Veliz etc) for a relatively low price? To put it another way, I wonder how much it costs to bring a kid like Mikey Moore through the academy? I definitely think there are benefits way beyond the finances to have players that are "one of our own," but I just wonder.

wtf happened with Eze's goal not being allowed today? hopefully, levy in the ref's ear telling him if he disallows it, it will keep his price tag about the same for the next 12 days and we can nick him at the end

Predictable moaning from Arteta postmatch, but the serially overrated Declan Rice put them in a spot of bother today. Obviously a strange game but Brighton look a very good side under this new manager.

They've been banging on the door for a few years now...

West Ham look a different side this year. They have good pace and technical ability in the midfield.

Hate to say it but they have bought well this window, and Jarod Bowen is an absolute baller!

Any manager that gets Danny Welbeck playing at a decent level should be knighted.

Especially when said manager is younger than Danny Welbeck.

Yeah it's very impressive slotting into a Team at that age. Don't mind Brighton so hopefully he does well.

They are REALLY fucked. That's a mad collapse.

If I were a Toffee fan I’d really be worried especially as they ran out of gas in the last ten minutes.

Dyche looked bewildered during the post match interview

Would love to see them go down
