maybe an unpopular opinion, but Ali McCoist is awesome on commentary. Best one across both channels

I've got man flu... so I will probably be dead this time tomorrow...

Thought I'd watch the Ghana Urgay game on my way out of this mortal plain... and these fucking commentators are annoying the fuck out of me...

Some jock with a lisp and some woman who is wayyyyyy too excited... shut the fuck up, please.
I can't understand a fucking word the commentators say. Everyone in Spain talks fast, football commentators take that speed and multiply it by fucking millions. It's machine gun Spanish and I can't say 'puedes hablar más despacio por favor' to these jabbering barstids, I say that a lot in real life and sometimes the locals will talk a bit slower so I can 'entender un poco'. It's probably better only getting a few words of commentary than having to listen to wankers talking bollox (I expect the Spaniel commentators are talking bollox but how would I know?

Here's my guide to watching footy in Spain, some of the Spaniel commentary stuff I understand is:

siempre lo mismo (they say this a lot when Spurs are playing) - always the same
muy peligroso - very dangerous
arriba - that just means up and seems to be used for all sorts of up-ness?
esquina para (Inglaterra) - corner for (Ingerlund) - sometimes they say 'corner'
falta - foul
buena pelota - good ball
Equipo de (Conte) - (Conte's) team
contraataque - have a guess
gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooal

I've tried to watch games on ITV and BBC but they keep buffering and stopping, all the usual telly is fine but live sport? Nah, not happening. An interesting fact that will hopefully upset any Brexitards - the state telly here is free, no licence and sponsored by........drumroll...... those evil barstids of the EU!

Oh that was luck. Did well to get a touch after getting too far in front, but from there it was all the great football god in the sky.

Why would Bill Nicholson want to give USA a goal? He works in mysterious ways I suppose.

All 3 saves by the Crote keeper were dodgy. Lloris got pinged the other night for being off his line, Croatia knock Japan out tonight, the keeper should have been booked for the 2nd and sent off for the 3rd. At the very least they should have all been retaken.

Jaw dropping stuff from the Brazilians in the first half, with Richy right at the heart of it all.

How on earth did they keep Emerson out of that team?

It's very quiet here, too quiet, no fireworks, no cars honking their honkers...... Spooky. Great game plan from Morocco, their defence was fantastic, Spain couldn't break through.

Really enjoyed Spain-Morocco. Not a lot of action, but full of tension, as Spain were getting more and more frustrated and Morocco always looked a threat to hit them on the counter.

Crotes! I enjoyed that game, too much cheating and play acting from Brazil for my cup of tea - coffee, I don't like tea. Michael Oliver was rubbish, he let Brazil get away with far too much bollox, Brazil should have got 4 or 5 but the Crote keeper wasn't having that. Like I told Mrs D yesterday - it's definitely gonna be France v Brazil in the final - I know fuck all so maybe England will even win tomorrow?

Holland v Brazil was boring - until it wasn't! Nice amount of handbag swinging, plenty of last minute drama and I think there might have been one player that the ref didn't book - 15 yellows for the players who actually played, fuck knows how many for the coaches and subs who didn't come on and just 1 2nd yellow for something that happened after the match? I think that most of the penalty shooters had probably been booked 7 or 8 times already but the ref had run out of space on his card so hadn't got a scooby who he had booked. Fun!

The last 10 minutes of the England game represents the sum total of what I’ve watched of the tournament.

With any luck, the club will give Kane a good week off to rest up before reporting back. It’s not like he’s going to need any extra fitness or training work to get going again on Boxing Day, just rest.

It was quite a good game, could have gone either way - just like a game of football, who'd a thought it? All the bollox about Harry 'taking responsibility' is fecking odd. He missed a penalty so I expect he will be abused forever by patriotic Ingerlish cunts for ever now - time to move to Barcelona or Real Madrid eh H?

So.... the Brexit mob whined about pesky foreigners and imigrunts invading their sovereign Isle...

Look at France with their smorgasbord of Algerians, Africans and Anybodyelsians who now represent "Le Bleu" and have turned them into an inclusive, absolute, footballing powerhouse of a country...

I'm not blaming Brexit for our departure from this shitty tournament... it was just an observation.

Good on them inclusive fuckers and the European fuckery...!!!

As for England... they did OK. Walker did a great job on M'bape. Shame Foden was tamed by the same tactics of helping out Walker as he would have been the game changer if he would have been alowed to make hay going the other way...

Their goal was a worldie... Lloris would have saved it though. Keeper is 100% our weakest part of the side. Oh and I can't fucking stand the shouty little prick...!!! We need a new one... quickly.

Meat head (Donk) has played the best football of his life... Great tournament for him. Stones looked comfortable next to him too..
Decent partnership that.

Bellingham is a worldie... Will he get any better...? It's not a given but he could get worse. He was like a Dele Ali on absolute peak performance... and some. Like him. As long as they don't beat the passion out of him like they did to Dele... I think that's where it started to go wrong.

Kane was again anonymous... I just don't think they play to his strengths... What are they again...?

Thought Rice was very good also. Did his job and made the right interceptions at the right time. Just needs to be a bit more careful with his passes... however that's made way easier if he was a decent ball playing midfielder next to him... he doesn't. Ever.

Mount was unlucky to not get more time... I think he can also be a game changer. I think he is the ball player next to Rice. Or the best we maybe have.

I don't like the allice band, promo haircut, foul machine... never been a fan... Grealish, that's his name...

Rashford needs to be inspired and he will be a serious goal machine...

All in all its another tournament to be forgotten. Kanes last...?

Who cares.

I usually agree with many of @Yid's opinions but despite all the controversy surrounding the awarding of the WC to Qatar, for me, this has become one of the most intriguing Finals in years. Plenty of exciting matches, lots of parity, & pleasant surprises from some of the 'supposed' football minnows.

I've added a word to the new dictionary I'm compiling:

Grealish
adjective

  1. affected with nausea; feeling inclined to vomit.
"a rancid odour that made him feel grealish"

  2. Unpleasant visual aspect
The doctor said his farmers looked very grealish

Don't disagree with the sentiments of the underdog prevailing... but this whole WC, from its inception is still, and will always be a fucking disgrace.

World football has been shown to be utterly morally bankrupt... they've stolen this sport from us and we'll never ever get it back.

I coach my younger son's team--14 yrs old, pretty accomplished players. This past weekend we had a game Friday during Brazil-Croatia. Turns out our opponents came from an area of the country with a lot of Croatian immigrants. Our game stopped when news of the result came in. The ref didn't blow the whistle or anything, the boys just stopped playing. Everybody's jaw dropped, and then the Croatian kids went mad (one boy on their bench was sobbing) for about 10 seconds. Then they just started playing again. I've never seen anything like it.

Obviously a billion moments like this aren't worth the life of one migrant worker in Qatar, and I guess that's kind of the moral tradeoff they want us to make without questioning. Bottom line doesn't change: as we've been saying, this World Cup is a fucking disgrace and the game off the field is a shambles. But I do think there are some things about football that even these motherfuckers can't ruin.

Well, Canada went out at the group stage without earning a point.
But seeing that 2 of its group members make up half of the Final 4, it no longer seems so disappointing.
If only they had gotten something out of that first Belgium game...
If only...

Initially, Morocco seemed like a dark horse but when you look at them closely they've obviously got some first tier talent with guys like Hakimi, Ziyech, Saiss, Boufal & Amrabat. No surprise that they've surprised teams.

Croatia's got loads of experience & a steely calmness. Never seem to be rattled when going behind. They know they've got the talent to get a result. And their manager has put it out there: "if it goes to penalties, the other team already feels like they've lost".

Many are hoping for a France - Argentina final but that's far from a given.

Croats as a people have suffered more recently than most and it shows in the size of their bollox... lots of respect for the Croats and I sincerely hope they get to the final.

Crotes Morocco would be a great final. But, lessons have to be learned, the bribe takers who allowed this sham to take place in Qatar have to be jailed and the FIFA money trousering stopped. I would also like the UK government to stop bending over for these evil fucking regimes - but that isn't gonna happen, the Foreign Secretary Jimmy Stupidly said yesterday 'We will be seeking relationships with countries that are not close to us politically or physically.' Facism creeping in without jackboots and swastikas, the silly cunts voted for it!

Yeah, as you say, it's not gonna happen. I see this morning that the Qataris have been buying up the EU Parliament. Belgian police finding literally suitcases full of cash in the VP's apartment.
