Both sides lost only once in the last six games and it's at their place as well so it's going to be tough.

I've always rated Eddie Howe as a manager and we've always had some 'interesting' results against them. What makes it even more vital is that Villa are away to Arsenal at the weekend as well so if we can get a win and Villa lose, we'll be 3 points clear of them in 4th with a game in hand.

Tough game, but they haven’t been great for the last couple of months, mostly due to injuries. I think we’ll put in a performance, because it will be nice, kinda like the Villa game, to have an opponent that’s not happy just to sit deep.

Bissouma needs a proper performance today imo. If he's not doing it by half time I'd be bringing on Hojberg..
Glad to see Bentancur starting though...

I do wonder if Hojbjerg has indicated that he wants to leave at the end of the season no matter what.

It would explain why Bissouma continues to start in front of him despite not being in great form.

Werner’s a little bit wasteful, but I need to see Son on the end of these

Yep, although it was all set up for us to throw it away today. Newcastle with a lot of injuries, not great form and we need a win to solidify our position in the top four.

I might nick off out and enjoy the sunshine

They have us worked out. Porro and Udogie are marked out of the game and they're hitting us quickly once they win possession. Which is often, because we have been shocking on the ball. It'll be interesting to see what big Ange does, expecting a better second half as always.

Nooooo, not Spurs failing to break down a side sitting deep...!

I know let's keep passing it side to fucking side 30 yards out until we loose possession...!

Or... Or... Better still, let's play it side to side in our own fucking area while failing to work hard enough off the ball to give viable options...!

Look, I know this season is a free one, but we're miles off of where we want to be. Overachieving again, masking the true softness of our squad.

Miles off where we want to be, but miles ahead of where we were this time last year.

As for me, I’m cleaning the kitchen. Fuck the grass. Too much pollen in my part of the world.

I think the biggest weakness is the lack of a CF. Sonny ain’t it.

I think Toney would fit the bill...

But I don't think that solves our problems. Midfield is so slow and maybe that's down to not having passes on from a CF, but it shouldn't be it's about work rate and ensure and we don't have it right now.

Werner deffo isn't it. Kulu maybe isn't it, Johnson could be it. Bisouma and Sarr are looking like they are only sometimes it.

We can't change the game from the bench... And by that yardstick, European football will not help us unless we change a significant number of players for upgrades over the summer...

Hoijberg is gone.
Gio isn't good enough.
Royal... Love his shorts but, Ha.
Big Ben... Steady.
Werner... Not good enough for a top tier side if we want to be one.

Who else is there... Where are the kids?

I think because Ange can't change things too much he continues to get a free swing, but he is starting to cut the shape of someone without the necessary ideas of how to fix things when they're not working... The changes are almost completely ineffective in most games. They rarely improve the game from an attacking perspective.

Feel sorry for the international Yids dragging their arse out of bed for that.

Oh well, let's try and enjoy the sunshine...

Gordon just summer it up.. they were told to win individual battles man to man... They wanted it more, they worked harder and were ultimately better... That pisses me off, we should never be outworked.

We looked like a team trying to defend a lead. There is no creativity, no flair not a fucking clue what t to do with the ball after we've passed 1,000 fucking times, backwards and square. We had almost 70% of the possession they weren't remotely fucked about that because they knew that we would do fuck all with that possession. I would call that a shite performance but it wasn't that good. Son is not the man he used to be, Werner isn't the man people though he was - but he wasn't, Kulu doesn't seem to have progressed as much as I thought he would, Madison isn't controlling games like he did earlier in the season. WTF has happened? They can't be tired out from cup games.

I just think he needs to play from the left.
He's a much better AML than he is a CF. Him on the left, Johnson on the right and an actual striker down the middle.

If Villa do end up losing to Arsenal, we'll both be on 60 points but we'll still have a game in hand on them so, in a sense, there's no real consequence to today's game as we could still go 3 points clear of them if we win the game in hand.

But then after today, with the run-in we have, I have no idea where we'll end up. United might end up catching us if we repeat that kind of performance against Liverpool, City and Arsenal.

Yes, it remains to be seen if this is a bad day at the office or if we’ve been found out. Honestly I think it might be a bit of both, but we’ll see. We have glaring weaknesses in our squad but so do Villa. They’re prone to ship a result like this from time to time as well.

I don't disagree we're better... We couldn't have been any fucking worse though, so it's a low bar to measure against.

I love the attack, attack, attack mindset that we employ, but when it doesn't work we look just as bad as we did under folded arms guy... We're clueless.

I have to stress while this sounds like bitching and maybe it is a little bit, I 100% appreciate the journey we're on and I expect bumps in the road.

Am I a bit pissed that Ange isn't impacting the side from the bench... Yes. Do I blame him... Not entirely as he could argue he doesn't have the players impact the game from the bench.
