We're so much better playing at pace... Getting the ball forward quickly is how we create a lot of chances... Allowing the opposition to dictate the play does not suit us... Yes we can counter but whe we get the ball it needs to be quicker forwards overall...

We are really getting outplayed. Ange needs to change something up.

I'd bring Hojberg on. We need to get on top in midfield. Werner....causes havoc at times but fuck me, if he just gambled on getting in to that 6 yard box when Johnson was whipping it in we could be 1-3 up.
3 points still up for grabs here.

How was that not a foul, and Werner has no football instincts. It's like he's never played FIFA.

I don't understand how he has play d at the clubs he has played at... Yeah he has pace and a low centre of gravity so looks like he is comfortable on the ball... But he is scared shitless of doing something wrong...

He's better than he was when he landed but he still ain't the answer.

Hmm, a point is not the worst result there but we’ll need to be playing a whole lot better with the bigger teams coming up.

We look out of gas and ideas mate... Dunno if Angeball can be played for a full season... Last 20 mins it was running in custard for a few if them.

The boys really battled hard today, but the plan and the quality were just off. Hammers offered nothing yet we still couldn't beat them. We do the same thing over and over, and if they cut off the byline, we just turn around and reverse it. No back post crosses, no shots from distance or 1-2s. Need to have more than one plan of attack.

I think Angeball works, but only if defending in general is solid. There needs to be improvement if we're really going to be a consistent CL side. We have to be in order for the rest of them to bomb forward and press high...but we're not.
We've gone behind so many times this season from poor defending. Tonight, every time West Ham had a set piece, we looked vulnerable.
Having said ALL that. This season has been great to watch. It's been entertaining and Ange has brought the spark back in to the club. We just need a bit of a tweak at the back imo. A bit more emphasis on getting that right would go a long way to making sure we get ahead of Villa this season and compete near the top in future.

I'm not complaining....I would've taken 6th and be play a better brand of football at the start of the season so all this is a bonus.

I think on reflection the Spammers are a better side than I wanted to admit they were... They had a game plan to pack the final 3rd on turnover if the ball and hit us on the break and from set pieces... They pretty much did that and shut us out.

There's still bits missing for us though you can see that there needs to be something else for it to click... If Maddison has a bad game there's not anyone else really offering a creative spark in the side... Yes, the speed merchants are still there to cause havoc against their fullbacks and cutting in, but that pass to unleash a forward is missing. I also noticed that Maddison seemed to be insanely deep at times... Bentancur and Biss both way more adviced than him... Yeah maybe a couple of times to keep the opposition on their toes... But I think he wasn't getting the ball enough so went looking for it... We can't have that, he needs to be up the pitch as it drags the whole team further up.

A point is a point but as someone said we've got some seriously tough games where those types of performances will yield nothing but a spanking from decent sides.

What I'm saying is if the Spammers can do that to us, The teams above and around us can do way worse.

Missed the game completely due to the slight inconvenience of becoming even more middle aged .. hah.

For me, it sounds like Werner is almost a no-brainer now to sign permanently, especially if we don't look at him as a striker and more as an AML. The cost of the deal could be covered by selling Gil as well.

Hopefully City do us a favour later on so we'll be only two points behind Villa with a game in hand again.

Maddison does that a lot, too much for my taste.

Overall, I thought we had some good passages of play, tidy passing, and several times were inches from breaking them down with that final pass. As I said during the game, I felt like Sonny especially needed to have a crack when offered the chance, because everything closed down so quickly.

A bit surprised Ange didn't chuck Richarlison on earlier, as he might have provided a plan B. Ultimately, the Spammers are eighth or whatever for a reason. Thought Mickey's pace was very important in making it difficult for them to break.

Mate, for me, Werner is not the answer... He is a lazy, cheap appointment when there are better players available.

I do think if we activated the deal and then sold him we'd make money... In fact for the paltry money he is available for wed almost be mad not to, but I don't think he has the quality we need.

Werner's goal involvements alone justify the price for me. He seems to have slotted in to the system quite well and Ange clearly appreciates what he can do.

For the early rounds of the League and FA Cup next season he'd be a pretty decent attacking option.

I agree. He wasn't done badly. He causes hassle, he has the pace to skin a full back and get a cross in...Kulo hasn't got that in him hence why Ange prefers real pace either side of Sonny.

He does what we need him to do. He's not a goalscorer. He's a pain in the arse for any defender...and I'm happy enough with that for now.

Furthermore, if he regains his confidence, the goals may come.

Lads, I don't disagree with anything you guys have written and agree that he's almost a no brainer for all the reasons you've mentioned.

But it's not shooting for the stars is it... Sorry, I want more... Am I greedy unappreciative prick... Probably...!
