Southampton (A) - 18th March

I’ll do whoever’s job it usually is to set this thread up.

Should win today, so going 1-0 Southampton and Son to have a shitter.

Perfect prediction of our season after a solid win versus Forrest.

😂😂😂

Unchanged side as well. Even though we've got a decent run-in and should ideally be looking to win most of them, I still can't summon a huge amount of enthusiasm.

I'll still watch but .. meh ..

Feels like that might be the result that costs us 4th. Very soft pen.

Throwing away a 2 goal lead away to the team with the worst home record in the league?

Sounds about right

As I said it was a very soft penalty decision—I don’t think Sarr even made contact but it was hard to tell. Still, we did it to ourselves. Up 3-1 we never should’ve been in that position. Their manager chucked on a bunch of quick 19-year olds and we shit our pants.

I was all for Conte finishing out the season, but now that is not possible. If he stays we could finish 8th. Players aren't faultless, but we were just dominated by a horrible side missing their center backs. Penalty or not, that was pathetic. Honestly, everybody out at this point. Strip it down and start over, hopefully, with new owners and a plan. Not a single postivie thing to say.

Wow, Conte has gone after the players in his post-match. Not sure it‘s the right place for it, but there is truth in what he is saying. However, he needs to shoulder most of the blame

Prior to today's match.

Southampton stats:
Bottom of the table.
Only scored 11 home goals
Have not scored more than 2 goals in a league match this season
Che Adams 0 goals at home this season
Theo Walcott 1 goal in previous 40 games
Ward Prowse missed his other 2 penalties this season

And along come Spurs

Only f'ing Spurs lol

Just seen that. I wonder if it’s because he knows he’s leaving during the international break ?

Looking at him on the touchline today, there were times he looked like he didn’t give a fuck what was going on.

I admire him for calling out the board, basically saying ‘sack me, and nothing will change”. Not sure this will be welcomed by Levy, but nothing Conte has said is a lie.

If Conte survives this, then the only reason Levy did not sack him is financial.

Conte speaks the truth for the first time. Basically saying sack me and keep the same duds who have had Poch, Mourinho and Nuno also sacked and nothing will ever change.

Whilst he is complicit to an extent. The above is the nail on the head with this football club (investment) under Lewis/Levy

Yeah, but he's been paid quite well to try to change it and has done fuck all IMO. Ultimately both the club and Conte are doing what they always do.

Nail on the head & nail in his coffin. I predict he's being laid to rest as we speak.

I'm tired & bored of his style of play.
I prefer a fresh start with someone else rather than Conte rebuilding the side to suit his style of play

Well the chavs can have him back (and might take him back after tonight’s result). Obviously I don’t like his football but the thing I find the most annoying is how he always shifts blame. How can you expect players to stand up and be accountable when the manager won’t. Reminds me of Mourinho and Harry in that respect.

He’s certainly right but his position is now pretty much untenable.

I suppose it’ll come down to who takes charge for the rest of the season. The sensible thing to do would be to make the appointment now rather than waiting and letting Mason take charge.

Whoever it is will have a good run of games to assess the squad and any “new manager bounce” might just be enough to secure top four as well.

OK, OK, OK....

One last time.

While his football is fucking shit, Conte isn't the problem...

While the players are arguably not top tire, The players are not the problem...

The same problem that has been stalking the club for a decade continues to be the problem...

Onfield under investment... lack of ambition... inability to attract the right calibre of employees... meddling and haggling where it is not necessary...

The consistent placing of scapegoats between the real culprit and the chopping block has to end if we actually have any serious ambition of achieving any form of success...

Unfortunately, after his previous comments about a new owner having to agree to him continuing as the club chairman, he isn't going anywhere anytime soon...

Levy is the sole limiting factor in our progression as a club.

I think I'm out now...

I think the players are a problem because a majority of them are not to the standard of where want to be. Some of these players are mid table best.

Equally, that leads as usual into what I agree with you about, the investment on insuring we have players with the right quality is not existent from the top. We have the stadium and the managers, but they are working with a set of average tools with the 1 or 2 high quality items. If you had a season when every team was at their best, we would be really fighting for europa.
