The Managerial Merry-Go-Round

Seems like Nagelsmann is supposedly 'not convinced' by the Spurs job and feels it could damage his career.

Louis Enrique wants to go to a club that will compete.

Pochettino is apparently Real's 'top target' when Ancelotti leaves to take over the Brazilian national side.

It's going to be Graham Potter isn't it ?

Did he actually say that ?? I doubt it.

Any coach/manager trying to make a name for themselves or even ones that want a PL job would still steer clear of us because they won't work with Levy. Why would they ?
We'll end up with a washed up coach trying to re-establish himself or someone who's cheap and won 3 Maltese leagues on the spin.

Or Graham Potter...

Jesus it's depressing...

I wonder is this just coincidence?? I hope so.

Levy must've forgotten how hard it was to find a manager after we had to settle for the bearded guy. Yeah, I honestly can't remember his name. We could laugh at Graham Potter, and he has been a shit show, but we might be lucky to get him. Who would take this job? Kane is gone. If he stays he has serious mental illness. Honestly, Eddie Howe would be a good fit for us but we couldn't possibly afford him. If it's Rodgers I'm out. Can't watch bug-eyed interviews every week. Hire some young weird German manager and hope for a miracle. That is our best course. Thanks, Levy.

The comments were attributed to “close friends” of his but most things at the moment are generally going to be speculation.

There’s an article doing the rounds that even claims that Levy has already held informal talks with Poch and has informed him that he’s not in consideration for the job as the club “don’t want to go back”.

This whole scenario, especially with Potter and now Rodgers losing their jobs, is primed for Levy to royally fuck it up and I can totally see it happening.

At the very least I’d bet on Nagelsmann being named Chelsea manager before the season is out - potentially before even the week is out.

Nagglesman to Chelsea is a done deal now. We can strike him off the list, if he even considered us. If we can't get Poch then DeZibri is our best bet. If not, it's Glassner and then God knows who.

I do wonder if Potter wouldn’t actually be the worst choice in the world. He had Brighton punching above their weight and playing some decent football a lot of the time.

Maybe the step up to Chelsea was a step too far and maybe it could work at a club like Tottenham where the expectations would likely be a lot lower?

But then he wouldn’t be the man to keep Kane at the club though - the only man who would do that would be Poch.

Brighton are playing better under De Zerbi. Potter isn't a bad manager but if he failed at Chelsea how would he cope with the clusterfuck at Spurs?

Your looking at this all wrong lads...

Who will be cheaper to sack in 12/18 months time, when it's all their fault that we're shit and still waiting for anything resembling decent football...

De Zerbi would be my pick out of what's affordable.
But we can speculate all we want. The club will go nowhere unless Levy's gone. And when I say that, I mean matters ON the pitch which is what a football club should be aspiring to. Not off the pitch, which pleases the suits and only the suits.
20 something years of fuck all on the pitch under Levy and we'll get 20 more unless something is done sooner rather than later.

As painful as it is, I fear we're going to have to wait until the end of season - at the earliest - before our questions are answered. I fear Nagelsman thinks he's above us, but he may be destined for Chelsea now. I fear de Zerbi's not ready, but he'll probably stick with Brighton for the time being. I fear Poch, just because I want to remember him the way I do now, but he's probably going to Real Madrid.

So...is it Potter after all? I don't want more sloppy seconds from Chelsea, but at least it's an adventure.

I've never been so demoralized with this much if the season left. Even when we've been shit (much shitter than this),even when we've had no hope (instead of forlorn, miguided hoped),I've always looked forward to the actual matches. But the hoped-for Stellini bounce didn't happen. Give him a gilet and let him at least entertain us on the sidelines!

By no means am I defending levy and co, this manager search looks like a debacle waiting to happen. But my God there are some fucked up clubs in the PL league right now.

Interesting.

It appears - on the face of it - to be somewhat significant because it's meant to distance Levy from the footballing side even more. If Paratici returns, or if we appoint a new Director of Football, he'll actually report to Munn and not Levy.

What this means in the grand scheme of things remains to be seen I suppose.

And...who the fuck is he? Olympic organizing committees? Franchise operations in China? If this was a long-planned move to separate football operations from the commercial side of THFC, all well and good.

But I doubt it.

His CV reeks of circle-jerk kick-back-compromised assfuckery and it's not gonna produce anything more than tighter control of image (that includes supporters; they might start handing out songsheets along with the program),players-as-commodities, and maybe pasta partners and Instagram images of mascots wearing Rolexes and shit like that.

What have I done wrong? One of the things I love the most (football) is pursuing ever-closer union with ine of the things I hate the most (capitalist soullessness).

Okay I'm sure there are people out there ready to queue up to compile a list of the things I've done wrong, but why can't I have a bit of the former without quite so much of the latter?

Still a Levy puppet. Levy is to much of a control freak to let this guy loose.

Looks like a scapegoat in waiting
Someone gets it...

Fall guy's when the milk turn sour again...

Fuck this club.

Agree with the responses. Levy would still have control over the big decisions, and this guy has apparently no experience in working at a top-level football club.

Then again, some might point out he will still have no experience with a top-level football club after working with Spurs.

I will say this, though, somewhat related: Given that we all know Levy loves a fall guy, and that things are very much in the shit right now, how is it that Paratici hasn't been thrown under the bus yet? He would be the ideal fall guy, can literally not work in football for two years or whatever, and literally might go to fucking prison. So how has he not gotten it in the neck already?

His CV before joining the City Football Group was very impressive in Australia. And it might say he worked on city's China operations but we all know that's them just moving money around for FFP!

The unknown is if Munn will actually have any say or if egomaniac Levy still dines out on signing van der vaart on deadline day and takes over

It's easy, and understandable, to be sceptical about this appointment but I think you do have to consider his CV and also the fact that he actually has a seat on the board meaning that Levy can't actually fire him and he doesn't report directly to Levy either.

If he was being brought in as a "puppet" then none of that would have happened.

It's quite sad in a way how jaded we've all become at the shitshow. This appointment of Munn really does seem to be quite significant in the terms of removing Levy even more from the footballing side of the club but most of the replies I've been reading on the likes of Twitter e.t.c.. are all along the lines of "Well Levy still controls the money so nothing will matter".

Obviously I would never, ever defend the Dark Lord but he still "controlled the money" when Paratici spaffed £60m on Richarlison. Considering Munn is now on the board and any DoF will have to report directly to him, there's certainly potential for a pretty big shift in transfer policy.

It appears that Nagelsmann is not, in fact, the free agent everyone has been led to believe.

A journalist from Bild, Christian Falk, has claimed that Nagelsmann is "technically" on gardening leave and his contract still has another two years to run.

So if we're true to form, many months of protracted negotiations leading to Brendan Rodgers being appointed a week before the new season starts.

Seems less on Bayern and more on Nagelsmann re the old contract.

JN wants his cake and to eat it, too (be paid out by bayern and new team).

BM obviously take issue with this so they would want the new team to buy his contract out to alleviate their financial obligation to JN.

Football contracts often amaze me really. You never really get 'sacked' like normal people and you often still get paid until the point you actually get another job.
