.......looms large in our sights.

After a so far underwhelming Champions League campaign, the specter of the Europa League, a competition that we have been trying to avoid for years now hangs over us. This is my greatest fear, it is entirely possible to win our group E and also to finish last and go out of Europe. Obviously I want desperately to progress as group winners, get through this and we get a Euro break until Feb 2017.

As we can discuss these things how do you guys feel about our prospects in the Europa League? Too early to tell yet?

Group E
Played Won Draw Lost For Against Goal difference Points
AS Monaco FC
4 2 2 0 7 3 4 8
Bayer 04 Leverkusen
4 1 3 0 4 3 1 6
Tottenham Hotspur FC
4 1 1 2 2 3 -1 4
PFC CSKA Moskva
4 0 2 2 3 7 -4 2

I've got a feeling we will not only beat, but humiliate Monaco but, then we return to the mire of English football to face the Russians.

Does it depend on the Germans in the same game, time will tell I guess eh?

If we win both games we'd still need Leverkusen to get something from the final game to qualify for next round, I think.... I have never said this in previous years but if we're in the "you're ropey league" next season then I'd be happy to see weaker/younger team being played as I think we can benefit from a godd rest like Liverpool and Chelsea currently are then.

If we end up in the Europa, do we play our home games at the Lane or Wembley?

My cousin says WHL as we won't sell out Wembley but I thought it was Eufa regulation that meant we had to play CL games away from Wembley, if they have same regs for each comp I suppose we'll have to play away from WHL. I'm assuming they'll take into consideration the difference in the clubs that often play in each comp and have regs that are relevant to each competition as Wembley would be so dead with EL footy being played in there.

Thats a good question!!sure THFC know, but are keeping that to themselves.

Personally,I would rather be in europa than go out completely i.e finish 4th in group

I would guess Wembley will go to reduced capacity of approx 50k like the PL games next season.

I haven't worked through the combinations but even if we win the last two games can we still finish third....?

If we win both, we will have 10 points, as Bayer and Monaco play each other in the last game, only one of these teams can better that, so in short 2 wins mean we are through.

I'm gonna get fuckin crucified for this but fuck it I'm a big boy...

I'm starting to get a bit sick and fucking tired of the pressure and impact Europe is putting on our side.

Yes I get it we strive to play in the biggest stage and in the biggest competitions etc but we are simply not fucking strong enough in depth to field strong teams on all fonts.

If we prioritised the CL (tin pot Europa) and league and had enough to manage and rotate that properly I'd be buzzing but we seem to be trying to field the best team we can in all comps and it just doesn't seem to be working.

We can't do a Leicester and solely concentrate on the CL, that while admirable is fucking bonkers but I genuinely think without the distraction we'd be putting those dipper cunts in their place and running things at the top of the Prem.

Anyway crack in with the pelters, maybe I'm just not feeling the Euro love right now and frustrated that these bin dipping mugs have 1 single comp to play for while we stretch ourselves very thin.

I don't think it's Europe that's hurting us and we have a stronger overall squad than last year....it's just been a bit of bad luck, hitting posts and crossbars, goalkeepers on form, a bit of loss of form and injuries. Look at it this way....everyone wants to win the Premier league first and foremost, and then for most, whether you agree or not, wants to finish top 4 for the prestige, the limelight and if your Daniel Levy the revenues. So you can't have it both ways, success in the league = Champions league. We've also had several seasons in the EL and Thursday/Sunday football, which has been a good grounding/experience for some of the squad players as well as the first team, so we're still going up the learning curve now that we've stepped up to CL.

We'll be fine, if not this year in the CL then in years to come. Our league form will rest on other factors in my view, and frankly it's not half bad anyway and certainly not as bad as everyone seems to be making out. The only really poor game this season was Leverkusen at Wembley.
