Ticket Touts

For a laugh I thought I'd have a look for United tickets. OK, there are a lot available, illegally I think, but fuck bleeding all is done to stop it.

One UK site has tickets starting at £1100, they say they are just a marketplace and are putting sellers in touch with buyers, but as they are taking 15% on the price surely that would be defined as profiting from a crime, because it IS a crime in the UK to sell a football ticket privately:

Section 166 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 makes it an offence to tout tickets for football matches by creating the following offence for an unauthorised person to:
  • Sell a ticket for a designated football match or
  • Otherwise to dispose of such a ticket to another person
Very straightforward that, no ambiguity, it is a criminal offence for an unauthorised person to sell a ticket. The agencies are profiting from those crimes so according to The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, they should have their assets confiscated by Pod. Of course it would be difficult for Plod to nick the sites that are based abroad but the 2nd site in the Google search list is UK based and even gives it office address on its site - oi Plod kick down the fucking doors of footballticketpad - registered company Borgholm Net LP,58A Broughton Street, Edinburgh, EH1 3SA, the website is also registered to that address - there probably won't be anyone there, but surely there must be a way of busting these crooks?

Most of these 'tickets' are actually membership cards of so called fans, these people are cunts, not Spurs fans and should be barred for ever having a membership again, their season ticket or place in the queue should be given to a proper fan. We have all transferred our tickets or lent out our cards to other Yids without making a penny of profit when we can't go to games, I really don't have a problem with that but when so many season ticket holders only buy their annual tickets to make huge profits hiring out their cards then I get really, really fucking grumpy.

I agree with this entirely, and I think StubHub has somewhat made it legitimate, and easier for touts.

Considering that I had a look at how easy it would be to build a system to read when a new ticket becomes available for Spurs on Stubhub, and notify me... It'd take me a couple of days to perfect it and I stand to profit exactly zero off that. A slightly technically savvy tout can pick up the cheap tickets off stubhub.

I think the law is a bit weird in this one, if I get a season ticket soon I'd certainly be looking for someone to take a few games off me a season, as I won't be able to make them all, and under that law, that's actually illegal. Sell, or even give someone a ticket. I can't see a decent reason as to why giving someone ticket, or even selling for 1/19 of the season ticket cost / face value is a problem.

It's OK for season tickets to use Stubhub as they are the authorised company, so if you can't go, you will be able to see your ticket. Of course you should be able to resell your ticket if you can't go, through an authorised outlet, but why should anyone be able to make a profit on those tickets? Levy loves the very bollocks of this system because he gets to make money twice, Stubhub make money out of it and the season ticket holder sometimes makes money, sometimes not, but with the resurgence of THFC this will mean every game could be a nice little earner. The people who get fucked up the backdoor are the fans who want a ticket but can't pay £1100. The old system was fairer, unwanted tickets went back into the pot and members could buy them at face value, Stubhub is just touting without the dodgy bloke standing on the corner, but it is slightly better than these agencies pimping out season ticket cards.
