When it comes to the goalkeeping department, football.london understands that some of the names on Tottenham's shortlist include Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, Brentford's David Raya, Brighton stopper Robert Sanchez and AC Milan's Mike Maignan. In recent seasons Spurs have also looked at the older Argentina and ex-Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak and, as potential homegrown options, Manchester United's Dean Henderson, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, and England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who is set to sign a new contract with Everton.

Spurs have been tracking 22-year-old Mamardashvili for a couple of seasons as one for the future. The Georgian signed a new long-term deal until 2027 in September with a reported €‎100million (£88million) release clause, but Valencia's financial problems mean a far lower valuation is expected and the Spanish club's perilous position near the foot of the La Liga table will not help their circumstances.

Raya, 27, has been attracting plenty of admirers with his performances for Brentford in the Premier League and the fact that the Barcelona-born keeper's contract running out next year will also make him a cost-effective option for Tottenham among others. He has turned down two offers from Brentford to ink a new deal and his manager Thomas Frank admitted recently that his contract situation makes the chances of him staying unlikely.

The 25-year-old Sanchez has two years left on his deal with Brighton and the Spaniard, who is considered homegrown after moving to the south coast club at 15, has been an ever-present for the Seagulls since breaking through from the youth academy. He is also represented by CAA Stellar, an agency with close ties to Tottenham, with the likes of Ben Davies and Joe Rodon on their books, as well as former Tottenham star Gareth Bale.

Maignan is a player Spurs have watched for a long time, since he came through the academy at PSG and moved to Lille. Now 27 and at AC Milan, Maignan was namechecked by Lloris as the man to take over as France's No.1 and there would be a certain symmetry if he were to do the same at Tottenham.

Martinez, Oblak and Henderson have long been linked with Spurs, while Leeds' 22-year-old goalkeeper Illan Meslier has also been namechecked by the media in recent seasons, while some in the Turkish media have mooted Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir as a potential free transfer signing this summer for the north London club. The 24-year-old is his club's captain with five caps to his name for Turkey.

The Italian media have also linked Alex Meret with a move to Tottenham. The 25-year-old Italy international is currently on course to win Serie A with Napoli. Any potential move for the Italian in particular could be tied up in whether two of his compatriots will still be in north London by the time this summer rolls around.

That's because the other issue for Tottenham in their search for a new long-term first choice goalkeeper this summer is the uncertainty around those with the casting vote at the club.

Antonio Conte's future remains unclear beyond this summer and if he does depart then the next head coach will have a big say in what is a key position within any team.

Tottenham and Chelsea look set to lock horns over the signing of Brighton star Evan Ferguson in the summer. The 18-year-old striker has quickly become heavily linked with an exit from the Amex Stadium as he continues to impress for Roberto De Zerbi's side.

The Tottenham and England captain sees his contract expire at Hotspur Way in less than 18 months. The report states that Chelsea are also keen to sign Ferguson as Graham Potter looks to solve the club's goalscoring issues.

Tottenham must up their price to get Raya

Tottenham have some ground to make up in their initial valuation of Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.

After clutching thin air for Harry Kane's free-kick, the 27-year-old recomposed himself to give a more than competent display at Tottenham on Saturday. Afterwards, Brentford boss Thomas Frank was, typically, frank, that the price on his goalkeeper's head was £40million. 'Absolutely, it's realistic,' said Frank. Yet, with one year left on contract, Tottenham consider £20m the more realistic price, cue some interesting negotiations.

Raya, who is also admired by Chelsea, is understood to favour Tottenham with Hugo Lloris considering an offer from Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

Brentford have lined up Dutch keeper Mark Flekken of Wolfsburg for around £11m, after considering Liverpool's price for Caoimhin Kelleher, er, unrealistic and would also need to pay a sell-on percentage of Raya's profit to his former club Blackburn Rovers.

Man Utd, Man City and Spurs plan for Brighton's Ferguson

Manchester United and Tottenham have earmarked Brighton's Evan Ferguson as a strong candidate to lead their line in the long-term and have laid down groundwork to pursue him next summer.

The 18-year-old signed a new contract at the Amex in April, which runs until 2028 to continue his development on the south coast.
It allowed Brighton to both reward Ferguson for an outstanding breakthrough season in which he has directly contributed 10 goals, but also protect his value.

Sky Sports News has been told United’s academy director Nick Cox recently labelled the teenager a “£50million-plus mistake” as the club failed to secure him on youth terms during a trial and would have to fork out a substantial fee in future.

Brighton believe if Ferguson continues his trajectory, he can turn into a £100m player, a view that has been echoed by at least two European sporting directors, one of which likened the variety in the Ireland international’s game to Harry Kane.

One Manchester City source claimed his name has been discussed should Erling Haaland depart the club.

Tottenham targeting move for Fulham loanee Manor Solomon

Tottenham Hotspur are exploring a deal for Manor Solomon, after a FIFA ruling confirmed that he will be able to leave Shakhtar Donetsk on a free transfer this summer.

The Israeli winger, who has been playing for Fulham on a 12-month deal after suspending his contract at Shakhtar last year, will leave the Ukrainian club this summer following the ruling, which was confirmed on Monday.

Fulham would like to secure him to a permanent deal and Tottenham are at the front of the queue if he does leave Craven Cottage, although no decision has been taken yet, and he will have other offers.

Solomon’s Shakhtar contract expires on December 31, 2023, and the 23-year-old was due to return to Ukraine in the summer after his temporary stay at Fulham.

However, FIFA ruled on Monday that all foreign players based in Ukraine or Russia will be able to suspend their contracts again for a further year, which Solomon intends to do. Once his contract is suspended, his agreement with the Ukrainian club will lapse at the end of the year and he will therefore be able to sign for a new club for no fee.

FIFA first made the temporary ruling in March 2022, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This was extended in June last year for a further 12 months, and has now been extended again. Shakhtar said on Wednesday that this decision means the club “stands to lose up to €80million in possible transfer fees”, a decision that “threaten(ed) our very existence”.

In a statement, FIFA said: “In order to protect foreign players and coaches who have left the territory of Ukraine or Russia due to the conflict and who do not wish to currently return in view of the circumstances, those players and coaches will have the right to unilaterally suspend their employment contracts with clubs affiliated to the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) or the Football Union of Russia (FUR) until 30 June 2024, provided that the clubs are duly informed of the suspension in writing by 1 July 2023.”

Solomon’s availability has alerted clubs across Europe. Tottenham are currently leading the chase and are working on a permanent deal. If he arrived he could be the first signing of the summer for Spurs, as they try to re-energise the squad after a difficult season. Although no deal has been completed yet and Spurs are set to face competition from across Europe.

Fulham nearly signed Solomon on a permanent deal last summer. The club came close to agreeing a €7.5million ($7.6m, £6.4m) fee for his transfer, according to Shakhtar chief executive Sergio Palkin, however after FIFA’s ruling was extended last year, the permanent deal was not finalised and Fulham instead signed Solomon on a one-year ‘free loan’ instead. Shakhtar sought damages from FIFA at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but were unsuccessful.

Shakhtar CEO Palkin said on Wednesday that Shakhtar “will continue” their legal case with FIFA, having submitted a complaint to the European Commission as well as preparing an appeal to the Swiss Federal Court.

Palkin also criticised FIFA’s decision to allow Ukraine-based foreign players to suspend their contracts last year. “Many international players then left the Club on free transfers,” he said. “The over-reaching measures applied by FIFA led to massive loss of player transfer income and a depletion of essential Club revenues. We believe the extension of Annex 7 continues to place clubs like FC Shakhtar in Ukraine in a seriously disadvantaged position with zero protection and threatens our very existence.”

Solomon has made an impression at Fulham, despite a difficult first season in the Premier League. He made his debut from the substitutes’ bench against Liverpool on the opening day of the season, only to suffer a knee injury the following day in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

He returned after the World Cup and made an eye-catching impact. Scoring in five consecutive matches across February and March. Three of those goals came as a substitute and his three successive strikes in the Premier League saw him become the first Israeli to score in as many consecutive Premier League games since Ronnie Rosenthal for Liverpool in 1992. He would make four Premier League starts in total, amid competition from Willian, and his overall return has been five goals from 23 matches in all competitions.

In March, Fulham boss Marco Silva admitted that Fulham would need to be ready to fend off competition to sign Solomon on a permanent basis in the summer.

“We have to be ready, not to lose him, but we have to be ready for the competition in the market if it appears,” said Silva.

“It was a decision we made as a club. Now we have to be ready to face it. Simple as that. In that moment we tried to sign him permanently. For many reasons, which is not important to talk about now, it was not possible.

“It can’t be a drama for us. We knew from the first day what can happen. We tried. I tried my best to sign him permanently in that moment. And now, it is what it is.”

Tottenham conclude their 2022-23 campaign against Leeds on Sunday while Fulham travel to Manchester United.

Now Kulusevski has spoken about his future and suggested that he and Spurs still both need to discuss what comes next and what the plans are from both sides.

"I've got to speak with the club, honestly we haven't had time to do that because it's been a very tough last few months," he said. "We all just tried to do our best and get as many wins as possible so I will speak with the club and we'll see what the plan is from their side and from my side. We'll see."

When asked what he wants to do and whether he wants to stay, the Swede replied: "Of course I love the club but I have to speak with the club and see what their thoughts are and how the future is looking. We've got to speak about that."

Still only 23, Kulusevski admitted that he had a little dip in form earlier this year but felt he regained his sharpness in the final months of the campaign.

"It's been a long season, very long. It started very good and then I had a couple of injuries for the first time in my career," he said. "Then after that I felt very good but I started dipping. I had a dip from maybe February, when I didn't play so good. Then I started playing better and in the last months I played pretty good but the only thing missing is maybe the final pass and the goals.

"So of course a disappointing season but no regrets. I know I gave it my all. I'm going on vacation now for a couple of weeks and then looking forward to the national team."

I'd definitely take Raya if we could get him.

Reading this morning a few rumours that Sonny is a target for the Saudi league. No transfer fees mentioned but with the kind of money they're throwing around at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if it's north of £100m.

But then I think i'd be ok with him moving on. He was undroppable, and deservedly so, for a long time but last season felt like he was undroppable because the manager had been told not to drop him.

We carried him for a lot of games and I do think he was keeping other players out of the side that deserved a chance.

I'd love Sanchez but he's not leaving Brighton, is he?

Raya is a good keeper. Pickford wouldn't be the worst option either but I'd take the other two ahead of him.

What is Onana's situation? Is he on the table? I'd read that he was perhaps a target.

There you go again @Yid ..Sitting on the fence. Stop being so vague...does my head in..😄

Raya would be a great signing. It's so important we get this right. Keepers now also need to be comfortable and intelligent on the ball, good long range passers, and dominant. If we spent more on a top keeper than any other signing I wouldn't have a problem...as long as it was justified.

I haven't seen a much of Raya, Pickford, or Sanchez. All seemingly good shot stoppers.

I just don't think Pickford is the type of character that aligns with Ange's philosophy of unity simply because every time I've watched him he's always bitching, screaming, & pointing fingers at teammates.

Does my fucking tits in... Nothing is his fault...

How many (too fucking many is the answer) have we seen Hugo stick his hand up and say "yeah, that's on me, my bad"... and then crack on with his job... everyone makes mistakes (Hugo made loads) but as professionals you don't need some snot nosed little twat bellowing at you about your deficiencies... I would have throat slammed the little prick years ago if I was in his side...

I couldn't watch that cunt every week, I'd loose my mind screaming at him... I also don't think he is big enough or good enough to be a top keeper...

Agreed about Son.
Really fell off a cliff this past season.
Zaha is reported to be offered 45M for 3 years so is Son worth 2X more after the season he's had?

We’ve had a Kane transfer saga play out over the last few hours.

Apparently he’d “given his blessing” for Real Madrid to make a bid for him and the paperwork was being finalised.

Madrid were then bidding €80m + €20m in “easily achievable” add-ons.

Now it’s all “irretrievably” off because Kane “demanded” €20m a year and Madrid wouldn’t pay the €114m transfer fee.

So that happened 🤣

Talking about Pickford and players that sook a lot, Zaha is next level bitch. I’ve always thought his reputation was bigger than his output too. If he was that good someone would have stumped up a fat fee for him by now.

Also, I am prepared to give Son the benefit of the doubt. Ten goals in an awful season is not a bad return and he’s always been a bit streaky with his form. Being part of our attack under Conte last season would have been soul-destroying but I agree he was poor.

Under a more fluent, attacking system though I’d back Son to bounce back.

You couldn’t be convinced then?

Ok, good enough for me and a no to Pickford.

Martinez would be my first choice. If not, Raya will be fine.

Yikes ..

I hope we can pull this off but I suspect it'll be a long road to get them to budge on their valuation, especially if the Dark Lord is involved.

Common sense would suggest offering a player (or two) as part of the deal but, again, .. Dark Lord .. 🙄

"their £40M asking price is deemed too high."

The THFC corporation is making you think we want to sign this amazing, talented, young player... truth is, Frazer Forester will be our number one come the start of the season, as he is cheap...

Soooooo, Que someone genuinely interested in developing and strengthening their squad to come in and pay what he is worth...

£40M, is not too high when you are the 3rd richest sports team in the world...

Prepare to be Levy'd

it’s too high when he has 12 months on his contact and he has rejected two new deals already

On top of everything Brentford have apparently already signed a replacement.

So he's rejected two new deals and they've already got his replacement and they're still being dicks over the price.

I would like if no one came in for him at their valuation and they had to pay two #1 goalies and then we got Raya for free in a year :)

Pay the money and get him FFS. £40m is what you pay for a good keeper, that's it. Liverpool paid £65m for Allison. £40m for someone who's not only a very good keeper but very good on the ball too. A top keeper these days are worth their weight in gold imo.

It's always the same. Do you want a good team, or a team of good values? For the most part you can't really have both, and we know which Levy prefers.
