Where are we short...?

Look... while everything is going well right now I think as the season goes on and injuries pile up our first 11 is going to be depleted... so where are we short...?

GK-Vicario I'd say Foster can come in and do an OK job.

CB-Romero/VDV Even with Ashley Philips were short. We all know that right now. Everything we do comes from Cutti/Mickey that's how we play and whoever comes in needs to have their tactical awareness and passing ability down for us to play how we do. We need 1 more and they need to be good.

FB- Poro/Udogie
have been a fucking revelation. They're brilliant to watch. Davies and Royal are adequate back ups but I can see us maybe looking to upgrade Ben... bring in someone younger who can maybe do a bit of a better job at centre half as well gives us masive flexibility from the bench. Could argue if we get 2 you might not need a 4th CB if recruitment's clever. I'd say 1 more here and has to be versatile. I dont think Sessegnon is a player who will ever come good, time to cut that loose and recruit for the future or look to the kids.

CM-Bisouma/Sarr... different level and think Bentancur will have a job on his hands getting a start ahead of Sarr. Hoijberg and Skipp are absolute mint back ups but we know that Hoijberg wants more games so for me I think we've got enough with Skipp as he's a great player to fill holes right across the midfield, maybe too good and he might want away but I'd look to the kids at the club to step in if injuries/suspensions got silly in there.

WF- Kulu/Son/Rich... I think you have to almost consider the entire front 3 together as they've changed around a lot and all done jobs in different areas across the line. We've got Peresic leaving, we've got Gill yet to be used we've got GLC seemingly also about to leave and Veliz got 4 mins at the weekend... I could see GLC/Peresic/Gill all leaving which means that we must be looking to get players in up here. Add in that Richi just doesn't seem to be working out maybe we look to bring in adequate replacements right across that line...? I don't want to spend Harry Kane money on Ivan Toney, but I could see him scoring in our side. I think with the way we play we've got to look at fast players out wide... think Doku at Citeh. How fast is Eze BTW...? I think we need at least 2 versatile fast wide attacking wingers to play across that front line.

AM-Maddison we he is a one man show isnt he... GLC is as close to being able to do what he can and he can't... for me this is the biggest hole in our squad... loose him for a month or two and we have to think about where the creativity is coming from. I think we've got to back him up and I also think this is where we could add another dynamic to the great football we are watching now... get another creater in the side and it opens up the possibilities for new attacking patterns and plays which makes us more dificult to defend against and more adaptable. Think back to our one dimensional Spurs who ran out of ideas when Kanw had a bad day... I think this is absolutely key to us moving to another level and sustaining the level we're at. 1 real absolute worlide required here, but the right worldie.

To sum up...

1 more versatile CH to replace Dier. Not essential.

1 full back that can maybe do the CB role. Dificult to find but ideal scenario.

2 Forwards to cover/replace GLC/Gill/Peresic... maybe Richi.

1 worldie AM... we're just short here we need to have another plan and this is the priority for me.

5 out and 5 in... please.

Agreed on all fronts. If god forbid Maddison were to get injured, I imagine Bissouma would play higher up the pitch when needed, like Dembele would do from time to time. It would just be very hard to get an AM with anything close to Maddison's quality to sit on the bench.

If, fingers crossed, Bentancur can get back into the side, or if PEH sticks around past January, this would give us some options to shift things around if need be.

As it stands, we do have some new and unproven players that really need to contribute in order to provide depth--it would be lovely if, for example, Veliz could present a threat, or Gil could work his way into the manager's plans.

I just wish we had some players from the academy that looked like making a case for themselves.

I’m keeping Gil but maybe looking at Pedro Neto, although he’s going to be fairly expensive.

As to who can cover Maddison well fuck knows. He’s unbelievable and almost impossible to replace. We might be playing a 3 of Bentancur, Sarr and Bissouma if Maddison is unavailable for any reason.

This is where the gaffer is very good though. He specialises is finding left field solutions for difficult problems. I could see Deki playing the Maddison role if needed too.

I'd say the ideal scenario would be to try and find a forward that can play striker and 10. The problem with a player like Maddison is he doesn't really play anywhere else so a lesser alternative doesn't get a kick.

Was never a fan of the Richarlison purchase and so far it's going about as well as I'd thought. As always would love to be proven wrong, but he has always been a 5 attempts to score 1 kind of striker.

Still Ollie Watkins for me but he has went from a 40 mil striker when we bought Richie to probably 90 mil now.

I'd back Lo Celso to cover Maddison better than anybody to cover Son.

Toney or better in Jan for me.

Getting Toney in January would be a coup. Even with the baggage he'll be expensive, and even if we're still in an excellent league position then, I think we know what Dr. Evil will do when faced with the choice to stick or twist in the January window.

Didn't we use to have one of those just recently?

But...given the holder of the purse strings we shouldn't get our hopes up. A first-class CB is the top priority.

Without really thinking about it I want (In the next couple windows) unless players (GLC, Gil) come good and if not sell ASAP
CB, LB, Holding midfielder (if PEH leaves, also would sell Skipp - this style we play isnt for him),creative midfielder (we are fucked if Maddison is injured),Winger (already short through injuries),striker

Fair shout mate... forgot all about him...!!!

He backs up the LF place well imo... tidy player and great option off the bench. Don't think it changes what I would like to see strengthened tho.

You're right that Skipp's not ideally suited to Angeball, but if he's willing to play limited minutes, I'd keep him. Ultimately as you're saying it's a decent squad, but thin pretty much throughout--need more quality to cover/challenge for places. Personally, if god forbid the decisions were up to me, I'd make another ball-playing CB the highest priority.
