Meanwhile other clubs pushing for title next season are signing players with known quality

I get that we need to make some signings to improve our depth but there is a lot to be said for keeping the same team together for as many games as possible and rotating for the cups. Signing players for the sake of it is a waste of resources. I would prefer we back in the players we have rather than signing another Sissoko.

i would also like to see Janssen given more time to settle. The guy has a load of ability and I see no point in pursuing another young striker without EPL experience who will take 12-24 months to adapt. We are half way there with Vincent, why throw the baby out with the bathwater?

Mattias Ginter to Spurs from BVB.

I haven't seen much of him lately but thought he may be a good addition given MP would be working with him.

But now I'm getting the same uneasy feeling I had after hearing all the Newcastle fans wanting to see the back of Sissoko. Lots of BVB fans voicing the same about Ginter.

Yeah, he's been out of form and favour for a while. I have read similar remarks about Veltman as well from Ajax fans, though he obviously has been more part of Ajax's successful run in the Europa League etc. Not sure we will go for either of these players if CCV is backed by Poch to step up this season.

Douglas Costa was set to go to Juventus a few weeks ago but no new news has come out of either camp in the last 2 weeks. Wonder what has happened?

We have ITK. This is JJ in response to an article reporting on stories of our 'interest' in Max Meyer, Javier Hernandez, Adrien Silva and Josh King.

I think someone is rehashing from years gone, as none is remotely true except for maybe JK but we haven't bid on him he is just of interest

According to their twitter he is signing for Gladbach. Considering Dortmund fans are quite happy about him going I'd say it isn't a big miss. Would rather keep Big Kev or if he doesn't want to stick around then go for Swansea's Mawson. I rate Gisbon from Middlesborough too but I'd say he will cost more than we can sell Kev for and would want regular first XI game time. The latter issue could be a real problem attracting someone as good as what we have with Kev imo.

^ bad translation: @ MatzeGinter from @ BVB will sign a contract with the # Fohlenelf today, subject to the sports doctor's examinations.

We can dismiss this ITK if Silva signs, which seems to be more likely than not if you can even remotely believe the media.

If the Silva rumours are true then I don't understand why we want him..

He's 28, never played outside the Portuguese league and in a position we don't really need to strengthen. Considering his price tag and age you'd expect him to be pushing for a first XI spot straight away and hit the ground running. No time for a couple of seasons to get used to the league.

For 2 CM positions we have Wanyama, Dembele, Dier, Winks. Alli and Eriksen can also play there fairly comfortably if we suddenly had an injury crisis and what's the plan with Onomah after his u20 displays in his preferred CM role?

Might just be a rumour but if not, for £26m, id rather spend that elsewhere in the team.

I think he may have the quality to push Dembele to be honest. Any transfer is going to come with risk but I'm not sure we need players to develop as we have loads already so a player in his prime that can push the already top quality midfielders we have. I know Alli and Eriksen can drop deeper but that weakens us further up the field. This extra player if it happens would be great if we wanna compete in 4 competitions.

I kinda mean rotate as the mouse isn't always fully fit.

First you say someone could push him.... Then you call him a mouse!

Dembele is God. You leave him alone.

According to the BBC Sport website it seems United are closing in on signing Lukaku from Everton for £75m. Conspiracy theories abound concerning his 'super agent' - Mino Raiola, who also acts for Pogba, Ibrahimovich, and that Henrik bloke who scored against us.

Apparently the boy Romelu respects Jose who sold him in 2014 whilst in charge of Chelsea for £28m, and he wants to join him again.

Based on nothing other than goal scoring records in the past 3 seasons I reckon that makes Harry worth about £140m......

Makes sense if true. Didn't he get an assist against City at home in 4-1 win? That's the only memory I kind of have of him.
Well done, I can't recall very much at all.....

I dunno. Replacing Lukaku is no easy task
I think it'll be united who are better and Everton with a lot of players to settle in and a big striker to replace. I don't think any of the players they've signed would get in our first team.

Hard to see what problem Rooney is solving for Everton.

Rooney just hasn't played with the same vigour these past couple of seasons as he did before. Just don't know if he has the will anymore.
Will be interesting to see 1. where Koeman plays him, 2. how he starts out, & 3. how he settles.

I agree with this but do wonder if a last chance at his boyhood club with a better chance of first team football will put spring in his step. Might be just the change he needs, although it could just prove that he's finished.

Yeah I don't know why he's bothering, he's had to halve his salary to £150,000 a week.......almost not worth getting out of bed for....!!!
