We played rubbish and won 3-0.

Would have dropped that game a year or two ago.

I wouldn't call it rubbish. It can't easy travelling to a hostile away ground and playing against a mediocre team on a crap pitch. A huge potential for embarrassment was avoided and there was, like Saturday, some very sweet looking football played. Aurier continues to impress and the poltergeist who has taken over Sissoko is doing a good job. Harry Winks proved what a special player he is developing into and Hugo provided some comic relief. Brilliant night, brilliant result. After last year who wouldn't have bitten off the hand that offered 6 points and 6 goals scored in our first 2 CL games? Luvverly Jubberly!

We didn't play our best but we have only seen glimpses of that this season.

Rode it a bit but even if they were a bit luckier or Lloris wasnt as fucking brilliant as he is we would still have won that game.

Second string side 7 potential first team names absent and we won well...

Calm down good people..........we won but I stand by the comment that we were rubbish. We could have easily been 2-0 down if not for some luck with the crossbar and a calamity avoided when Hugo had the Benny Hill music ringing in his head.

It's a good sign though. Like I said, a year or two ago we bottle that game but good, mature sides win even when they are not at their best.

Your definition of rubbish is different to mine. Yes we could have been 2 down, by 2 counter-attacking breaks, that can always happen when you are playing a team like that, but we could also have been 2 up at the same time we could have been 2 down. If you really think that performance was rubbish you are in for a miserable season.

Nah mate, I have been rather pleased so far, notwithstanding the points that we are leaking at Wembley. I can't see us winning the title but we should really be good enough to hold onto our top 4 spot and think we are more likely to challenge next season, or more likely the one after.

It's probably a bit early to write off our title chances. Of course the ugly sisters of Manchester look like they are running away with it, but when we beat them both the gap will much smaller and things will look very different. I wouldn't be miffed if we didn't win the title this season, I wouldn't be that irked if we don't finish in the top 4 - I don't believe in the Wembley hoodoo, but I do believe that for the visiting sides the thought of winning at Wembley is a massive motivation, every game for them is a cup final and they will be firing all their guns. For many players a visit to our temporary home will be the only chance they will ever have of playing at Wembley. That makes every home game a big challenge for us this season

I do have high hopes of a shiney thing of some description ending up in our trophy cabinet. I would be chuffed as fuck to win the Carrybooboo Cup - or any cup. I have been excited by some of the football we have seen so far from our team, we have the squad to beat anybody, but it's football innit and they are human beans so who knows what will happen?
