Good old Bournemouth......in 1996-97 they were ranked 82nd out of 92 in the football league and languishing in Division 2.

From the Deloitte's report in the 'Guardian' based on Financial information for year end 2016-17.

Bournemouth, whose stadium has a 11,464 capacity, the world’s 28th richest club, owing to being in the English top flight for only the second season in their history.

Just bonkers the money sloshing about.
I dunno if it was 10,20 or 30 years ago when salaries to baseball, basketball,NFL players were quoted how obscene it felt. Now sanchez £450k a week, our own players underpaid at £100k a week and fans saying its not enough, pay em what theyre worth.....well yes in relation to the madness other clubs have indulged,£5m to an agent for a one off deal ?fans paying £50-70 to go to a spurs game,if you have BT&Sky over a ton a month to legally watch 4/5 games a week.Thats about £250 a month for a couple of spurs games&tv rights before travel, food, beers, merchandise.
Whatever it seems cos of billions in tv money it is the fans paying at the end of the day,may not all appear as matchday revenue but who pays sky,bt,fox, nbscn, its not housewives if they had choice!!

Honestly I give Levy a pass because I hated Sugar so much and i cant boycott spurs for another 10 years, besides truly if we have american owners!,clubs arent clubs like english football and its accepted to invest and take, and take, free market and all that.Look at kroneke,FSG,glazers, they must truly be suprised at the stick they get from the fans when they take out more than goes in.

It is bonkers, thank fuck we had the golden age for a few decades, may not have had the comfort, padded seats, usb charging and cheese but it was real.Hoorah we are earning more, duh just means people are paying more!I am thrilled sissoko will earn more in a few months than me in my lifetime cos he deserves it.

I agree with most of that, but you have to move on as well, otherwise we would still have fires in old stadiums, crushes and deaths on old terracing and various other horror stories. The money game has become obscene, it's channelling it and re-distribution that's the key, in my view. At least (or it appears that way to me) Spurs have and are trying to do as much as possible in capping wage structures and supporting the local community. You can argue of course that this is for Levy's long term benefit, but I'm hopeful we are getting the balance right more than others, however absurd the money side of the equation is.

i agree about better facilities, cant go back to the 80s and before, how we all survived unscaythed god only knows.
Hartlepool are going bankrupt over 200k debt, thats probably less than what debruyne makes in 3 days,or his agent got for just saying oh yeah 300k a week yes!!

I dont begrudge people getting paid, but the day my football club feels like tesco and i am just a meer customer I will vote with my wallet. There have been glimpses of that at spurs, however Sugar was far worse than Levy in that regard.Levy has a choice, his legacy can be like that of jack walker or freddie shepherd, when he`s 6foot under be remebered fondly as a good custodian for a period or he can leave more money to his kids and we`ll all think he was a profiteering cunt who sold us down the river.I hope its the former choice.

I know what you mean. The problem at the moment I think is that the tail (Sky & BT deals/broadcasting rights) is wagging the dog (football as we used to know it). Spurs can take a moralistic stand that most of us would like to see, but if they did we would go backwards very quickly. Unfortunately, bearing in mind the current context of the industry we are in, you have to move forward with it to keep pace, survive as a top club and be 'successful'. Whether grass root fans can afford it, seems to be only a second thought. Some can some can't and it seemingly only attracts new fans that can, by financial default.

There are lots of Hartlepools I'm sure, and if I had my way I would insist that the top clubs, finance the smaller clubs, based on a percentage of their wealth. Thus United might have to pay and equal sum of £500,000 a year to 10 division 2 clubs, City/Chelsea x 8 clubs, Arsenal/Liverpool x 6 clubs and so on. It's the re-distribution of wealth argument I was talking about and protecting the grass roots of the game. It's also where the Dele Alli's come from.

With regard to Levy, he talks a good game in every interview and video blog I've seen, particularly about being a custodian of the club and he is a fan. (i think his first game was the same as yours and wotspur) We will only know in time, but for the present he has in my view transformed the whole club. He's made mistakes BMJ sacking being one of the most notable, but I think overall he's one of the best in the league. We may well in the future be owned by some wealthy conglomerate from overseas, it's probably at that point I will join you fishing.

I have a place but my training isn't going well. It may be one race too far for me right now. Which I know will drive me fucking mad eventually and lead me full circle a few years later back to the start line.
Yeah im pissed as I desperately want to get up there for the NLD... but things don't currently look too promising. Even if I can get up on the train for a few servers in the pubs I will if I can.

Interesting point. Do we really have to move on? We can decide not to pay, I have decided this, not a penny more will be coming out of my wallet to feed this greedy creature we call modern football. The point you make about safety is valid, but the huge majority of the money we pay goes to players, agents, corporations and cunts like Levy, not into safety or development of the game. You could say I am cutting off my my nose to tell my face to fuck off because I will be missing out on some great days out, but that's who I am. No compromises, no forgiveness, no nuffink, stubborn as fuck.

There is no balance in the football equation as far as I'm concerned and of course everything Levy does is for Levy, do you really think he gives a flying fuck about the 'local community'? How many of the new luxury apartments will go to pikey council tenants? How many of the local community will be able to afford to live in New N17? All this bollocks about the thousands of new 'high quality' homes gets right on my tits. Who will be able to afford these flats? OK, there will be many new jobs created, but a normal peasant earning 15-20 grand a year can not get afford to rent locally or get a mortgage for a half million pound 1 bedroom, shoebox sized flat and the 'affordable' housing scam put forward by the government to force developers to allow ordinary people to buy their own home is just a joke, 80% of half million is not 'affordable'.

Of course there is some really good work done by THFC in the local community, nobody can deny that, and many folks are happy to dosh out their hard-earned to buy the tat merchandise and pay stupid Sky subscriptions and buy tickets, fair enough. But when a bloke who kicks a fucking football for a living whinges that he isn't getting enough money because he only gets 70 grand a week and Levy'ish tycoons become richer every second via their huge property investments while local people are forced out, I ain't supporting that - but then as some people may have guessed I am just a tad Marxist politically, you probably didn't realise that did you? Hee hee, course you did innit.
