Our first game of the season against a top four side, could be tricky. Watford will not be a falling over, moaning, 2nd rate side like the one we faced yesterday, this will be a proper test. The 'puter says we have a 61% chance of winning this to take our premiership winning run on to 6.

Interesting (or not) Watford vs Spurs stats doodahs:

45 Meetings
Watford have played Tottenham Hotspur 45 times in all competitions.

First Match
Their first match was in the Southern League on Saturday, 6 October 1900. Tottenham Hotspur were playing at home that day and the final score was Watford 2 Tottenham Hotspur 1 .

Last Match
The latest meeting between these two teams was a Premier League game on Monday, 30 April 2018, the score was Tottenham Hotspur 2 Watford 0.

Highest Goals in Game - 9
Southern League, Saturday, 26 October 1901, Tottenham Hotspur 8 Watford 1
League Cup, Wednesday, 21 September 1994, Watford 3 Tottenham Hotspur 6

This new season has seen a remarkable change in the promptness of the Match day thread. It feels like the new signing of @Dorset, now back settled fully in the fold, much like Lucas Moura, is reaping dividends.

We have a proper match on Sunday, I'm desperate for a ticket because I live about 20 minutes away, anyone got one? This will be a 'tough match' they always are aren't they (even when they're not) Watford are on a roll but haven't really had much to do yet. I think it's got 3 or 4-1 written all over it, Harry always scores in September, first hat trick maybe, the mighty midget Moura, MMM will also score again, so thats 3 for OOO and 1 for MMM. That will be enough for top of the league, but it's too early to say how well we'll do. It's always too early to say isn't it. Danny needs another game to sharpen up a bit, Mousa too, Toby was my Motm against United, brilliant we've still got him.

I like Watford and hope they do well this season, but sorry lads you're going to come up against Spurs on Sunday and you're winning start is over. Anyone got a ticket?

Poch must have damaged it when he picked Lloris up in a bear hug.

Football Focus yesterday - they were discussing the title race, yeah I know, premature ejaculation, but the teams they decided were in the race were City, Liverpool and Chelsea - silly fuckers.

Today's win which will happen and Kane will get a hat-trick will be triffic. We haven't won the first 4 in a season since 2010 and that was a nice season! In fact that season was the only season in the history of the PL where we won the opening 4. I think only Danny Rose is the only player still at Spurs from that season. Luka, Gareth, Daws,Heurelhio and of course the little legend JD, who scored the goals that got us into the Champions League for the first time. Ledley, Super Pav, Thudd and even Giovani got 12 minutes of Premiership football that season - 12 minutes too much or was the waste of space not given a chance? That 9-1 win over Wigan, 19 different goal scores in the premiership - and Harry Redknapp, who deserves respect for starting the climb out of middle table mediocrity - and BMJ of course, he can have a slice of the respect cake.

I have a feeling that 2019 is going to be even better than 2010, we will surprise the bollocks off of these so-called pundits on Football Focus, they will be all "oooh where did they come from?" when Spurs win the Quadruple! OK, a bit optimistic, but I am convinced that at least one shiney is on its way, ready for when the New Lane opens in 2020.

This system just isnt working
A bit early for that sort of judgement I reckon. There was some very purrty football played in that half, keep playing like this and the system will work. Watford are tough to break through but we will.

These first 3-4 games seem to be passing Eriksen by a bit, might only be my impression but Dele seems to have become creator in chief?

Fuck a doodle, too many average performances on our part and ultimately bullied out of it.

System wasn't working today, not in the first half or the second. I thought Demblele looked unusually sluggish today and looked the same against United too. Is he 100%? Anyway credit to Watford they gave us a rough game and got the points. We just couldn't quite create enough in the end.

Fucking hell...football really does have a habit of fucking you in the ass when you think things are going well. As others have said, plain and simple we got bullied, with very little quality and really didn’t like having only Moussa in the middle of the park, against a very strong athletic side.

Fucking hell.

Thought we were crying out for a little more steel in the second half, can't understand why Dier was on the bench. Truth be told, I'd have been well pleased with a point from this one before it started--there's a reason Watford have a 100% record, and we saw it today. The likes of them, Crystal Palace, Wolves, etc will be very difficult to beat away this season. Still, conceding two after deservedly going ahead is frustrating.

Match stats:

Possession - Watford 35% Spurs 65%
Shots -Watford 7, Spurs 11 (only 2 on target)
Corners - Watford 3, Spurs 11

Do what? I don't remember watching that game. The only real differences in lineups from the 3 wins were Lloris and Dier missing. I don't think Vorm can be blamed, like @J.spurs said, we needed some men of steel, Wanyama was on the bench but I guess he's not ready for a rough old game like that, but big Eric might have helped?

Oh well, it's a lesson learnt, beautiful football don't work in an ugly game. We need to win the ugly fuckers by playing ugly, then turn on the beautiful stuff to thump City, or summfink, luckily I know fuck all about football so I can talk total bollocks and not give a toss if folks don't like it.

Maybe some fans or thst chaps could help out and play for the team eh,after knocking off ofc after doing a bit of glazing, wiring, etc.Thats a realists view of it all.Surely a fan with a bit of talent could just pop on for 10mins instead of Llorente get us a goal, how it works innit??

Gah, I then watched the end of the Schalke game which was an even greater abomination. Games like that really make me want to just watch it at 6 or 7am after the game has finished.

Just one of those games. Always going to be hard when both Eriksen and Kane are off their game -
still think Harry is carrying some kind of injury. Credit due I suppose to that twat Neanderdeeney.

We just didn't create enough in the final third and again gave away too much. Is Dembele OK? Thought he looked off the pace two games in a row after coming from the bench to dominate Fulham. Thought we got bullied in the centre of the park and maybe Dier would ahve helped out there but he wouldn't have made us any more creative but then we needed to be stronger. Eriksen and Kane are yet to hit form too. We are always slow starters, usually slower than this to be fair but the game against Liverpool just became huge. Poch isn't looking a happy man right now. Anyway onwards and upwards! COYS!

It's only 4th game of the season and 9 points from 12 is a decent start, but if you play crap, lacking energy and commitment you're going to get beat. It was a great wake up call according to Poch. Some interesting observations here:

Bet you’re glad u didn’t get to go ! I got a last minute.dot.com one , then found out no trains running on my normal route so my 90 min train journey turned into 3 hours.........EACH WAY .
After the game , was so fecked off went for a few more pints, and a.though we got back to Waterloo , with 5 mins to spare Callum wanted more food , I walked up the platform , to get on , when he got back in the time frame , but no , he got there just as the train went out, so another fecking half hour wait
Got back , and so not to become a Lloris potential , got a cab home and collected my car this morning at 8.10 , to find that , it’s a resident only 8-9.30 and I’d got a ticket ..ffs why does following Spurs have to be so hard, and expensive
