Who remembers these three occasions , all of which I was there for
At WHL v Forest , one of the first televised games , I’m sure it was a 12/1pm scheduled kick off , and was stood on the Shelf,as ever , and there was a bomb scare and we all had to evacuate . Many went home , I went to the,pub and waited for the all clear.
Then one Xmas , playing LFC , when 1,500-2,000 Irons fans turned up ,,as their game had been cancelled . The LFC fans got move over into the park Lane behind the goal and the Irons , where the away fans stand .
That awful time we played Bolton wanderers and Fabrice Muamba collapsed , and HR thought their chairman’s influence at the FA , and his suggestion the England job was in the bag , and our season went down hill

Yes. First one I think might have been Thorsvedt's first game? Might be wrong. Don't remember the pikey's turning up against LFC. Remember FM although I was at an England rugby International at the same time, and finally still a little embarrassed about putting up a major banner, funded by Redknapp supporters from the old site, at United home in support of Redknapp. Apologies again.

Thorsveldt was forest too I think.
I went to the Forest tv game, think it was the 1st live league game broadcast??,in the programme I remember they apologised to the jewish fans for breaking the sabbath, dont remember the bomb scare?but probably I did my usual go in 5 mins before kick off if it was the same match.

Anyone remember the chas n dave vs Gerry and the pacemakers before the liverpool game, also one of the 1st live televised games? They had a stage middle of park lane, gerry and the dippers got roundly booed,it all got a bit pantomine when chas n dave came on to a reception worthy of the 1966 world cup winners.

Surely someone soon is going to anecdote maradona or kempes playing for spurs??i was there for maradona but wasnt at enfield for kempes turning our for us,oh the days when we made world cup winners do a trial against non league in friendlies!!

I was in the clock end in 86? when they let in a load of rent boy fans start of the 2nd half cos their game with west ham was frozen off.Actually all kicked off just a few feet in front of me,had my bird with me at the time, she had popped down to the concourse to the loos when it all broke out.It was hugely hyped up in that jason marriners book, where he claimed they took the away end from spurs at arsenal,in truth I dunno?50 of em came in,caused a little flutter,by the time our firm right under the clock moved over they happily sat encircled in an escort of old bill protected,if thats what you call taking an end??So much for the old hooligans only fight hooligans, they just had a quick windmill at whoever was close by,I know the truth i was 10ft away,i was reading the book just talking out loud to myself "what a load of bollock",bloke should write for hollywood.

I put a few quid in for that banner too, was the right feeling at the time.

100% Redknapp fucked us and himself simultaneously..... silly cunt.
Agreed, didn’t know that he had that arrogance until that episode. He’s an object of ridicule now , festering in the stands at Bournemouth, shame, loved that first CL campaign.

he was right man at right time, more a Mr right now than Mr right.
Only have to look at his sides (personnel wise),as mercenary as they come.Very short termist, which was great and got us out of a hole, but leaves nothing for the future, look at his time at west ham, portsmouth didnt build anything of a legacy for the club.Who did he sign or improve for us??I`d say no one, where as Jol improved or brought in carrick, berba, modric,Bale to name a few.Redknapp signs players good for a season or two,a bit like Jose, wont gamble his rep on younger players or unknowns.Loved what he did,but I dont really hold him in that higher regard.

100% mate, until then he had the absolute world at his feet. Have to hand it to the overlord... he knew. Made him a handsome offer to be our gaffer and take us forward and he didnt take it... the rest as they say..........

While I dont disagree... that season was the most exciting season I have ever had as a yid. We did things and played in a way that EVERYONE noticed. We got beat every now and then but on the whole we utterly destroyed teams with pace and guile.

That was the epitome of a Spursy side.

I fucking loved it mate, considering the precious season we could have ended up relegated... we were that bad under Wamos.

Me too I put dowh in , what happened to the banner anyway.
Thst Muamba episode ,coincided with our demise. Their chairman and high up with the FA let it be known to HR , he has a great chance of getting the job, took his eye of the ball and we were pants .
Was surprised he got a song tonight at the Amex from the Spurs fans , but not from me . Anyway just got in 3 Pts,s and VERY VERY WET. When Lamela scored he ran towards Me and Callum , we were celebrating , when I realised I hadn’t belted up , amd my trousers were sliding down , and needed hitching up

I agree completely,he was perfect for then, right style, management style, players he had,the whole club, support was lifted and we all carried the club. That is what I find most annoying about Levy and the stadium,if we had the euphoric feeling as a club, team, support like then, its what we had under harry and made it magical times.

My god we nearly ruled europe with pav and crouch!!good times, and then his ego pissed it away for a sniff at the england job, which he would never get being a tax dodger and how he runs his mouth at times.

Yep. It was fun. The soul destroying Ramos era was over and the spreadsheet tactical 'fuck me did I really pay a hundred quid to come and watch that shit' days of AVB were not imaginable. Yeah Harry was a bit of cunt, but I wasn't arsed about that, I don't need a manager who I'd invite round to tea. Of course with the Poch we get the exciting football and the building of a team for the future, I wouldn't swap him for any other manager and any cunt who whinges that we haven't won anything can fuck off and do some research on how mediocre our results were before BMJ ( liked him as well ) came along.

There's no doubt in my mind that BMJ was responsible for giving us back some respect and pride in the shirt, previous to that we were a laughing stock, all of a sudden we were winning three, four, five games in a row! Heady days after Francis and Gross!
