I had a look and couldn't find a thread for Fernando! OK, so I can't find my slippers either so there may be one somewhere.

With Harry Kane out for at least a month is this the opportunity for Llorente to show us what he can do in the Premier League? We haven't seen much of him in the Premiership:
  • 2018-19 36 minutes, played in 6 games, average playing time 6 minutes, subbed on in every game, 0 goals
  • 2017-18 225 minutes, played in 16 games, average playing time 14 minutes, started just one game, subbed on 15 times, scored 1 goal
We know he can score goals, 2 hat-tricks for us in FA Cup games, 1 in the League Cup and 1 Champions League goal. 9 games coming up before March, including 3 big cup games and then the NLD on the 2nd, if Harry is only expected to start training again at the beginning of March then the chances are he won't be back for that.

Can you hear the drums Fernando?

I quite like Llorente but we’re probably fucked. And Sonny going to the Asian Mickey Mouse Cup could not have come at a worse time.

If Lucas is fit, I think he'll probably start some these games with Llorente on the bench, though the loss of Sonny makes that difficult. I like Llorente, and as I said in another thread, I think he's actually been decent coming on late, especially in the last couple of months. Truthfully it's hard to see how we'd find much better as nobody better would want to sit on the bench. Given that he'll go for nothing at the end of the season, I wonder if we'll do something with his contract?

Poch will devise a style and a plan to use Llorente effectively, headers and knock downs- Peter Crouch style. Fernando scored 15 goals for Swansea in 33 appearances, did ok at Juventus as well. His range pace and technique is limited but we have Fulham, Watford Leicester and Newcastle, could be worse. The fucker is Chelsea and Dortmund....and Arsenal on March 3rd. We’ll do our thing and get through it. Worry not!!

I don't think it is the best situation but of all the coaches we have had in the last ten years, Poch is the one I would trust most to figure out a way to play and still compete. If we can managed to get an actual functioning midfield again, that will help both our attack and our defence.

It's gonna be focused round an old school tactic imo.... big lad, small lad duo...

Llorente and Moura in a classic set up with Dele and Ericsson giving them the ammo.

Or Llorente upon his jack with Moura and Dele coming in from wider positions and Christian pulling the strings...

There's a few variations on a theme, but if one of that quartet get a knock..... we're properly fucked.

I think he's basically our backup plan, if we can't get a general improvement and someone young we'll renew him for a year.

Hope the lads up to it.

Honestly he was worth that much. We would have been knocked out of Champions League and probably missed on top 4 without him. I would love to keep him around.
I agree, but then 20:20 hindsight is a wonderful thing eh?

Can't put this in the ITK thread because I am most certainly not in the know, but I have heard from a semi-legit source (okay, a drunken Trinidadian who is a very good friend of mine) that WE have approached Dani Alves' people.

Honestly, if he's good enough I'm all for it... he'd be backup, give Harry some rest at end of games, and whatnot. Hopefully keep him fitter.

If we want to use Troy as the back up striker, and have Llorente as another option, he's something tactically different and realistically for about £5m for a 3rd striker, it's not the worst thing in the world. I think Llorente would take it, and as a free agent he's not really hung up on transfer windows either, so he can sit pretty.

All depends on how good we reckon Troy is.
