On the odd occasions we get the ball and break away they do what City do ,they hack the player down as early as possible ,so far Moura has been done 3 times ( 2 bookings ) andVvd pulled him back once but got away with it .
shame VAR didn’t rule on the throw in , but still shoukd have defended better .

Well if nothing else, there were reasons for a bit optimism in the 2nd half. At least we gave them something to think about and probably should’ve got a point out of that.

How did Robertson not get sent off ,for the overstretched leg and studs into Tanganas ankle , Nothing , then he did Toby .
positives form the game , Tanganga was assured ,apart from the goal , but more experienced defenders would have been turned there ( not that it was their throw in )
hopefully no more CE ,and Aurier was as good as I’ve seen ,and I don’t like the bloke

I think we were really lucky to keep them to just one goal, the optimistic moments were very brief and too few. Our passing is fucking awful. Movement is non-existent, it's slightly worse than depressingly average,.

Think it was more that we were so shit in the 1st half, that given we created a couple of chances in the 2nd half, I saw that as a positive!! That’s how low we’ve fallen!!

Didnt watch the game. Seems like it was business as usual...

At least we're consistent.

We gave them a game mate, certainly after the break. Lo Celso missed from two yards and whilst we weren’t the better team, a draw wouldn’t have flattered us.

Especially given we were playing with 9 as both Rose and Eriksen were liabilities.

I am actually quite heartened by the performance.Shows we can be organised and follow a plan, sanchez and tanganga helped blunt europes most potent attack, but we carried passengers, rose and eriksen were awful, dele was ozil like in a bad way,but moura worked his guts off,as he needs to do.Son missed a sitter and Lo celso missed an even easier chance, son, moura, lamela, dele also had decent opportunities, but our shooting wasnt great.
I think Liverpool will be delighted to have escaped with a win,we pushed them hard 2nd half, much like the game at anfield,we could have won. Also the crowd is worth a mention, stayed with the team, and drove them on 2nd half (except eriksen who really got the bird).

For 70 minutes we played stupid route 1 with Moura upfront against one of the most positionally sound defenders in the game. For the last 20 with Lo Celsi and Lamela coming in we put the ball on the ground and went at them. We made them nervous and were the better team.

This is the story for most teams playing them at the minute. Letting them dictate the game searching for a draw instead of getting at them.

Eriksen and Rose should never play again. Football requires heart and theirs are elsewhere.
Lo Celso needs more game time. He does what Winks is supposed to do. Always available to pass to. Quick one 2s to open up space. Lamela aswell.
Tanganga was very good. He got the goal wrong, but that was some touch from Firmino.
Lucas Moura was tireless. Man of the match in my opinion. He gave them dogs abuse and was brought down 8 times at least. Squandered a good chance was his only real failing.

Robertson should have seen red. Auboomerang got sent earlier in the day with a very similar challenge. Probably heavier in reality, but that doesn't matter.

I left yesterday feeling positive based on our last 25 minutes, when we were the better team and they were rattled. A draw would have been a fair result. The crowd stayed and everyone received an ovation at the end, we knew that they really put a shift in for the second half and were unlucky to have nothing to show for it. If we can find a way to start like we did against Burnley and Palace and finish like we did yesterday there will be no more days like Chelsea at home and Brighton and Southampton away.

I don’t know what the solution is with Eriksen and Rose. It’s a great shame that they seem to have the attitude that they do, but I wonder who else really wants them for anything like decent money anyway. Certainly no one did last Summer in Eriksens case and I have a bit of sympathy with Rose, although not much, after he was sent to Watford at the 11th hour.
1-0 at half time was a relief that it wasn’t more, and great performances from Tanganga and Moura in particular, but others like winks and Toby also worked hard. Make no mistake Liverpool are a very good team but we bettered them eventually. We’ll probably have to settle for a Europa league place next season (not guaranteed) but it’s going to be an important Summer of restructuring the team and Levy will need stump up.
