i know it's abit early but what's people's general feeling about the squad ?? What areas need improving if any and what realistic targets should we be aiming for ? Personally I think we're screaming out for a Rafa style number 10 to link midfield with attack ,a player who can slip killer balls through in the final third

I am pretty pleased with what we have, doesnt mean we cant be improved as a squad or 1st team.Really I wont be upset if nothing happens.
I guess a lot would depend on CL progress as far as funding a january short term gamble?
If we could get over 6 -7m for carroll that would do me for januarys business.

looked a little over weight if i am being honest,or cumbersome. That dive before the goal would have been quite upsetting if he had been in lilywhite.

Hmmmm. do we need anyone? Maybe. Probably not.

I still have faith in Janssen, he will start banging in goals soon enough, buying another striker could unsettle him and give hm a kick in the old doodles so that might be a bad idea. We obviously need to be scoring more goals, we are 15 short o the Dippers in just 11 games, OK getting loads isn't everything, winning every game 1-0 would win us the title, but that is unlikely and we would be much more comfy with some 4 or 5 goal thumping eh? Harry will be back on form soon, Son has shown he can thump them in, Janssen will come good, Toby will be back to nod in corners, so I reckon we will be OK.

Our defence is well sorted, nobody needed there, we are carrying on from last season - best defence in the PL. I would like to see Trippier used more because his crosses are farking sublime! I laughed my bollox off the other day reading that he couldn't cross a ball! But how the fuck could we drop Kyle the way he is playing at the moment - ooooh what a dilemma!

Midfield? I don't know, it's more tricky there I reckon, we have loads of different styles and not being a tactical genius I haven't got a scooby. I can't see any gaps there but I'm sure some experts could let me know???

So, all in all I would say no, we're good ta very much. We have had some iffy injuries lately, but once the chaps are all fit again we will make up that very slim 5 point lead and take our rightful place at the top of the table.

Grrrrr! Clattenberg! (Said in a Superintendent Chalmers shouting 'Skinner' tone of voice) - I don't care what the rules say, at least 2 scummys were offside, if they hadn't been there then Wimmer would have not scored the OG, it is blindingly simple, if the FA say that the rules allow that goal, then the rules are wrong and need changing.

Striker with pace and a midfield magician. Easier said than done. And maybe not what the manager wants.

I don't know what was wrong with the old offside rule tbh, either you are or you aren't, nothing to do with interfering with play etc. that makes the whole thing subjective and there's the problem. As Brian Clough once said...if you're not interfering with play you shouldn't be on the pitch.

problem for me is that this law is partially subjective now,a law should be black and white, fact not an interpretation in a milli-second.Also catching players offside is a legitimate defensive tactic, unless you`re adebayor then you just basically give them a free kick if you ever try&pass to him,cos boy was that muthafukka ever onside????

I agree we could use a number 10, t's been a bit too easy (so far) for teams to sit deep and clog things up against us. But we're kind of in the position where anyone who would be good enough to make us a lot better would probably be too expensive for us to buy.

The more I think about it there's not that many type of player available ,they seem to be a dying breed or a specialised unit in certain formations .i always thought eriksen would become one and was a little surprised when people who had seen a lot more of him than me before he came to spurs (I'd maybe only seen him in 5-8 games)said he's not that sort of player or ever will be ,they're right of course I still think it's a pity he's not but still a class player even if he is underperforming this season

Meyer could perhaps become that player but I don't think Schalke will sell him. I wouldn't mind putting some pressure on Wolfsburg to sign Draxler.

Sturridge anyone? Not advocating it, just mentioning it as it appears there may be a chance he's on the way out at the dippers. Excellent finisher but I think we need a bit more than that tbh.

Good shout on Draxler, he'd be a good fit. Do you think Wolfsburg would sell? I know he was supposedly trying to force his way out back int he summer, and that they've been very poor so far, but don't know his contract situation, etc.

I don't think Levy could use the price tag as an excuse, there must be hundreds of millions in the transfer biscuit tin -unless that money has been diverted elsewhere, surely not? The wages would be a problem for a 'star' player, we couldn't really pay massive money, well we do pay silly money just like every other PL team, but not mega-daft mental money. How can a bloke earn tens or hundreds of thousands of quids a week for playing a fucking game? Bonkers.

Anyway, I don't think the money would be the biggest problem, finding a bloke who fitted in with the team and the Poch's sytem, someone who really wanted to play for us and had the hunger and ambition needed to be a proper Yid, that would be tough. A gobby star player with an attitude could do more harm than good so I think we might do better growing this bloke in our own allotment, unless of course we could find a mad scientist to clone someone like VDV or Ratfishboy for us.

He's under contract for quite a long time. Not sure whether them selling De Bruyne shows they are willing to sell or whether they just couldn't refuse the money at the time. His move there has been a bit of a disaster but I think if he can manage to stay healthy he could still perhaps reach the potential he showed but probably not if he's still at Wolfsburg.

every Premier League summer signing rated

TOTTENHAM

Victor Wanyama - 8/10

Has started every Premier League game since joining from Southampton, providing a dominant presence in the Tottenham midfield.

Vincent Janssen - 4.5/10

The Dutch striker has looked ill-suited to Spurs' style under Mauricio Pochettino, and his three goals in 17 appearances have all come from the penalty spot.

Georges-Kevin N'Koudou - 4/10

The £10m arrival from Marseille has yet to start in the Premier League for Spurs and has not been afforded the amount of game-time to impress so far.

Moussa Sissoko - 4/10

The £30m signing from Newcastle has barely justified his fee and his most notable moment yet was earning a four-match ban from the FA for a stray elbow on Harry Arter.

Way too early to judge in my view, especially with GKN and I guess Sissoko is based on the Leverkusen performance, otherwise he's been good or average. Time will tell, as it has with Son and Lamela, I still trust Poch's judgement, he works with them everyday at the training ground, we only get about 90 minutes once or twice a week.

It's unreal, as are the transfer fees. It's not even all that remarkable anymore when players go for £10 million in the Championship, and they're surely almost all making a quarter million yearly these days.

We need a little more creative depth.... that's a huge ask as imo we need to get a player that is better than what we have got. somone to drive the quality and form of the current player on a positive tragectory.

If that spark is ignited both Janssen dn Kane will start fucking shit up as well as the like of Son and Dele chipping in too.

If we don't get anything I would t be dissapointed as with the kids and back up squad being rotated in I think we could unearth a few more gems.

Coys.

I think this meega-money can only be bad for the game. Why should players put in any extra effort when they will be payed millions even if their arses never leave the bench? Harry Kane is earning more in a year than the majority of Spurs fans will see in a liftetime, and he is only earning about a fifth of the obscene amout players like Rooney are getting and the granny banger is on about a fifth of what that ornage Portugese bloke gets.

I read Jimmy Greaves autobiography a few years back, players travelling to the game on the bus with the fans, living in digs or with the families of other players families, having to work extremely hard to make a decent living - jut like the fans who in the end provide the money. These days even kids who are not first team regulars are earning a million quid a year, or in emotive terms, the wages of FIFTY nurses or teachers, it is lunacy.

The only way football could ever return to a pure state is if we stopped giving them our money. Refuse to pay £70 upwards for an NLD or other category A game, that is taking the piss, £40 plus to watch Spurs play fucking Sunderland is a joke. Giving Sky around £60 a month, the minimum needed to get a decent Sports package and then at least £10 per month to BT for the Euro games is what leads to a kid like Kane thinking he is being fucked over because he only earns 150 times the national average wage for playing a fucking game. I am not bashing Harry, of course Harry wants what other players get, that is understandable, who would not? What is fucked beyond redemption is the way football and other sports have become massive money machines, sucking the cash out of the fans - who will be seen and heard less and less in the stadiums in the future because the ordinary bloke will have little spare cash after paying for the 70% of his stuff that has been imported with his worthless British pound, phew isn't lucky that Fuhrer Farage and the other National Sociallist MEPs in the UK nazi party get paid in Euros? They'll be able to afford a football ticket or two and have a Turkey on the table for Christmas,

Of course the withdrawal of funds will never happen. Proper fans will be replaced by tourists, I expect to hear recorded chants being played in the near future as the minted 'fans' won't know the words. The TV money will continue to roll in and I wil continue to tsk loudly when kids earning truly astronomical amounts of money say they are being underpaid.

... of course there is another side to the stupid money issue, the feds will be getting a nice chunk of this football wages money in income tax, so in an ideal world we should all be benefitting from this. Now all we need to do is stop paying huge amounts of benefits to skiving scroungers and put thieving MPs who trouser imaginary expenses and tax evaders in jail - which should be funded by huge fines, and everything will be ticketyboo.

Apparently he doesn't like us 'fickle fans' so he can fuck off. I was surprised about what happened with him, but I don't think his head was right for a Spurs shirt. Did he think he had a right to a first team place after his injury? Nah Nabby you have to earn it. Now fuck off and stop slagging the team that made you what you are you ungrateful cunt. Wrong attitude for a Poch team, he thinks he is better than he actually is.

To be fair the source I am quoting is the Daily Mirror so he might not have said any of that bollocks, if so I will apologise (just after the sun rises in the West).
