Knockout play throughout, like they used to be, would make it a much better competition, and alleviate some of the legitimate concerns about fixture pileups.

Another reason I like these competitions is that it gives us a chance to watch our own players we don't see very often, especially the younger boys. Still remember seeing a young Harry Kane in the EL against Hearts and (I have to admit) thinking he didn't look remotely good enough.
I like it too, where else can you see Riegler & Zechmeister Pellets Wolfsberger Athletik Club in action? But judging by recent history, the chances of Mourinho playing the kids are slim to none.

True enough, though it was cool seeing Scarlett and White a couple games ago. As for Wolfsberger AC, I'm here for it.

Actually, my ideal would be a competition comprised entirely of teams named after Soviet-era tractor factories.

I've always thought of the Europa league as the FA cup of European play. Everybody gets excited when ManU has to go to Carlisle, or the Croydon plumber's union gets to play at Anfield. I think there's just as much romance in these unsung sides getting a home-and-away run at the galacticos of the big five leagues.

And lest that sound patronizing, don't forget that the tractor-makers had to best a bunch of other decent sides to get their chance.

I just don't want us flying to Kazakhstan or Vladivostok.

Sorry, I just got excited.

For some reason I can't explain, there is a network over here that televises the Austrian Bundesliga. For equally inexplicable reasons I have watched it a few times and remembered the name. Based on my very limited knowledge, suffice to say this draw won't have Maureen pacing the floor at night.

Trouble could be the players will take it lightly, not a big name. That was a problem in the groups, and we saw against genk how you pay for that.
We have a real shot at this cup,the drop outs were nothing to be terrified about.

I know teams come and go, but seems there's a lot of decent matches amongst that lot and it's a good draw for us.

For @uired over in the "sex & drug addicted hitchhiker's" thread, Wolfie is currently 7th in the Austrian Bundesliga
We can park all EL shenanighans until mid February now, 18th to be precise........and then the home leg is specially arranged for a Wednesday, 24th February, because Arsenal are getting knocked out by Benfica on the following Thursday night. See how things have changed in terms of superiority in North London.....fuck off back to Woolwich Gooners.

Our fixture list if we reach all finals, we've already played 28 games so far...........Someone let that irritating, fatigue mumbling, German twat at Liverpool know would you, thanks in advance.

Spurs fixtures 21.png

If you look closely you'll see a pattern of a game every 3 days if we continue to qualify. April and May are a nonsense. Even with a big squad they are big games requiring top players and we haven't really had an injury yet. Good luck lads, tough at the top eh?

Even if we only made it to say, the QF of the EL and FA Cup, we'll have players dropping like flies in March or so. If we can say one thing for certain, it's that Levy, anticipating this, will definitely spend to make significant additions this month to help us be competitive on all fronts.

It's bullshit, but I reckon it's a different flavour of it. I don't think Welshmen count as homegrown (eg. Davies) if they did their academy years there (eg. not Bale).

So he's loudly proclaiming his loyalty to them wot brought him, when he can't trade up anyway.

Arsenal's home and away legs against Benfica in the Europa League round of 32 will be played at neutral venues due to current COVID-19 regulations.

Arsenal were scheduled to travel to Portugal for the first leg but that game will now be played at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on February 18.

Arsenal's 'home' fixture will meanwhile be played in Athens at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, the home of Olympiacos, on February 25.

Manchester United's away leg against Real Sociedad in the Europa League has been moved to the Allianz Stadium in Turin.

On Monday it was announced that Manchester City's match with Borussia Monchengladbach had been moved. The first leg of that round of 16 tie will also be played at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, while RB Leipzig will play Liverpool in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie in Budapest.

Fucking cheating Scumbag gooners have had our next Europa league fixtures reversed, because the home legs clash. So if there was an advantage in palying at home second, that's now been lost. Don't worry about the fact that the pubs are closed, there's no fans and the country is in lockdown......ffs. Or maybe even consider switching the Scum's fixtures....no don't worry about any of that, change ours.

Many suggesting Neville should invite Bruno for an interview & round of golf to talk about having to move clubs in order to win trophies.
