In 1993 Bill Nicholson was given a belated testimonial and I think this photograph shows that he had a special friendship with Jimmy Greaves.

On Sunday, August 21, 1983 we staged a testimonial match in his honour against West Ham. Alan Brazil equalised Dave Swindlehurst’s opener in a 1-1 draw, before a crowd numbering 20,101.

Our line-up was: Clemence, Hughton (Mabbutt),Thomas, Roberts, Stevens, Perryman, Ardiles (Hazard),Brazil, Galvin (Archibald),Hoddle (Price),Falco.
No mention of greaves here in the line ups so maybe he was doing a john terry?

Further evdience though has him talking to Sir Alf at the match

By now I was intrigued,and ever the internet sleuth or sloth? I found this team sheet,so Jimmy played in an old boys spurs xl exhibition match

i also found pewter tankards from the match

Osgood didn't stay long iirc but took a few pens for us. Centre back.
I'll be honest tho, got all the players and Burkinshaw but couldn't for th life of me get the one beside the old boss. Any takers?

They are mate. The memories just came flooding back when I first saw the 77/78 team. The admiral shirt was my first one and it was during that season in Div 2 that we spanked Bristol Rvs 9-0. Brilliant stuff.

I had the admiral tracksuit top&flaired bottoms.Wish Id kept it,turned out to be iconic.Still got my coq sportif and all the shirts since except the home and sky blue hummels,think i lent em to a bird & lost em.I got another replica admiral a few years back from the club,but they arent the same.

I lost my centenary cup final white shirt with the circle around the badge, on the middle of the chest? and the two tone Shiny and Matt sky blue one, or was that with the central badge, can't remember now. Still got the rest though and had about 25 scarves at one point...flags, mugs, egg cups, cereal bowl, road sign, grew the grass in a mini stadium, lucky pants and socks (they don't work) t-shirts and polo shirts and Christ knows what else, I've got a Spurs bull dog for some reason... it's bloody madness really.

I lost my centenary cup final white shirt with the circle around the badge, on the middle of the chest? and the two tone Shiny and Matt sky blue one, or was that with the central badge, can't remember now. Still got the rest though and had about 25 scarves at one point...flags, mugs, egg cups, cereal bowl, road sign, grew the grass in a mini stadium, lucky pants and socks (they don't work) t-shirts and polo shirts and Christ knows what else, I've got a Spurs bull dog for some reason... it's bloody madness really.

Anyway, I suspect it might have been a cheap version, the badge and maker logo were was printed in some type of plastic. Mother ironed it soon after I got it and burnt the cockerel logo off.

I will never forgive her for that.

Nah we had to put Anderton on the pony cos he couldn't run due to botched hernia ops. It was fine until the pony got an injury, then Sugar shot it still, the burgers in the West Stand never tasted so good

That's the one in sky blue it came as two tone....those yellow ones above are priceless. Didn't we have a brown concoction one year I seem to remember us playing Reading or Coventry in brown shirts, might have been Admiral....
