As far as I’m concerned he’s been pretty average for much of the season. Seeing why Saints were happy to see the back of him for only £15mill, which isn’t much in this day and age. He’s so limited as a footballer. A half decent squad player but definitely not a starter if we want to start properly challenging for honours.

I never want to see him and Winks start another game together.
Sorry, but this is a bit jerky.

There's been times over that last 2 years where he has been a fucking rock amongst a pile of insipid shit... he has run his fucking legs off for us constantly week in and out for what seems forever.

I'm prepared to give him a break bow that Bentancur is here to give him a rest...

He deserves that at the very least.

Sanchez and Royal (who I was also going to give the benefit of the doubt, as he is playing out of position) can fuck off...!!!

Fair points mate but I’m sticking to my opinion on him. I certainly ain’t disagreeing with you that he works his nuts off and gives his all but he is incredibly wasteful in possession, if we want to go forward as a team he’s not the answer. I don’t think I’m being jerky, I focus a lot of my attention on him during games, and he gives the ball away so often even simple balls are often offline and he has this horrible tendency to pass the ball behind players, which drives me nuts.

He may be fine sitting back in a midfield 3 but if we play 3-4-3 which Conte prefers, then for me, we can do better. He’s probably our most productive midfielder in terms of goals and assists but that’s not saying much with our options in the middle of the park. I just think all the donkey work he does off the ball is great but he is limited with the ball at his feet and if we continue to only play 2 in midfield we need 2 guys who have a decent range of passing and can beat a press with a bit of trickery.

Personally, if we want to get back into the top 4, then we need 2 guys in that midfield who are equally as comfortable with the ball and without it. I’m purely looking at it from a point of improvement of the team, I don’t think he’s a top 4 footballer.

As for Sanchez and Royal, well it’s now largely a given that they’re garbage.

Don't disagree with your analysis... just think he needs some RnR to get back to being not so shit...

He is limited, I agree... but he does deserve a chance to be back to his best.

We need a whole new midfield with the exception of Skipp.

I like Winksy, he is a Yido... but again limited.

I just feel a lot of our issues stem from not being able to control games and that comes from your midfield, and midfielders that have the ability to control games. We don’t have any that can properly impose themselves on games with the ball at their feet, it’s also why we’re so vulnerable at the back coz we piss around so much playing back and sideways that teams can press us easily, we have no real attacking threats on the middle. We’re very easy to play through as well. Doesn’t help that we’re so poor at the back. Would like to see Bentancur and Skipp get a game together.

I would add that the front 3 aren’t devoid of blame, as the lack of movement is often noticeable.

Yeah I do like Winks, as a footballer though, as you say, very limited. They can all put together good games but it’s the lack of consistency, that’s the issue.

The formation and tactics are not obviously best suited to the central midfielders so some consideration has to be taken into that.

Brighton and this game the gaps and spaces in midfield were gigantic and it needs sorting out because we did not have control in the midfield either of them games!

That being said I do think PEH is finished here as much as he gives it all and never shys it’s time to move him on.

Winks is a squad player and should not be first choice for us as much as he gives 100%

I am rooting for this guy with him coming through the academy to turn it around but I just can’t see it happening.

If the defence wasn’t in such a state as it is now I would be really tempted to move Eric back into center midfield.

Dier Wanyama Dembele. How I miss that midfield.

Our defence actually looks like they dont know what they're doing. Winks was arguing with Sanchez on the pitch on Wednesday during the first half, when they were each way out of position, leaving acres of space for Ward Prowse to exploit. It really is a shambles. Conte has a mammoth task on his hands, we shipped three goals at home to.........Southampton ffs.
