I don't necessarily think Kane was 'awful'. He had two men on him almost the entire game and anyone is going to find that difficult. Maybe if we'd switched to a more traditional two up front and players wide it might have freed up some space but we all know what Conte is like for switching formations ...

Kjaer sums it up pretty well.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia and MediaSet, the Dane said: “Kane was the first problem to face on every Tottenham move. It was important to block him off and then press the others.

“We were ready for a lot of their moves and did what we prepared in training. We knew exactly what they were going to do.”

You can all call me crazy, but I actually enjoyed that, the result notwithstanding.

Everyone was covered in dirt 20 minutes in, you could almost hear the thuds, and no cunt (ours or theirs) was permitted a second on the ball before an opponent (usually more than one) was all over him. Yet there there were moments of skill, linked up by some hard running.

I don't know how to make Burnley or Stoke sound Italian, but this was a particularly obdurate defence (on a Tuesday no less) and 2010 Barca would have struggled to create many clear-cut opportunities. We used our width but never gave up on threatening through the middle, and every man was up for a tussle (see dirty shirt reference above).

And both Skipp and Sarr were revelations.

None of it was scintillating, but that's the kind of play you need to be able to come at head-on pretty often in football. We can't play Leeds every week.

I know, we lost 1-0 but I like us having that kind of robust display in our locker.

Hehehe nobody I know around here agrees with me either. Don't get me wrong, I prefer peak Poch, peak 'Arry, peak BMJ., etc..but I like a grinder once in a while. Moreso if we win...but we may yet.
