I've just been watching the FA Cup highlights on MOTD. All those proper fans following teams like Stourbridge are a credit to their clubs. They were celebrating like,as @skiathospurs said, their team had won a draw against Bournemouth - just for getting through to round 3 of the cup. They will be there for their team if they are playing Accrington Stanley or Manchester United.

None of that 'we fucked it up ' bollocks when their team comes third in the Premiership like we hear from numpty fuckwits.

Fucking good job proper fans, pat yourselves on the back!

Agree 100% with Dorsets thoughts above, Plymouth Argyle took 8,500 fans today to watch Liverpool reserves.....that's fantastic support.

I know we are a much bigger club and have the ability to sell 85,000 tickets at Wembley but those who support Tottenham away, consistently make a fantastic noise in suppprt of our boys, regardless of the match being on at an inconvenient time, 250 miles away or live on TV. I applaud you.

Yeah we've been in great voice everytime I have tuned into home and away games...

I'd argue even better support from traveling fans.

very apt in a thread aboot proper fans...

on Mauricio Pochettino:

"I was calling for his head when we were on a bad run a couple of months ago. I am glad he has proved me wrong! what a manager!"

If I remember rightly, a 'couple of months ago' we were unbeaten in the league, right? If fact, we've lost two games all season. Sometimes it really really gets under my skin eh!

Back in the day when I lived in England, I grew up in a village (which wasn't very villagey, just small) in Surrey, one of the kids we hung out with who we called Gobbo (due to his ability to stand on the "village" train platform and spit across the train tracks right over the opposite platform, growing up in a "village" you had to make your own entertainment).

He started following Aldershot just after they got wound up and having to reform and start again at the bottom of the English football pyramid. He went to almost every game home and away until they eventually got back into the Football League. He even used to book his summer holiday to clash with The Shots summer tour so he could watch their preseason friendlies and training sessions.

The life of a non league football fan is tough, apparently they are even forced to stand at football grounds. Plus things can get heated. A few years ago, the local non league team in Brighton known as Whitehawk had this aggression from rival fans to deal with.

Fair play to them all. You know you're unlikely to see any superstars and you're unlikely to win anything of note, but they go regardless, for the love of football. Real fans.

When I was a schoolkid I used to go to Southend for the friday night game with all my mates and Spurs on the Saturday on my own. Spurs have always been my team and Southend was just the local side, and the level of football was obviously lower but the atmosphere, the lights cos it was always a 7.45 kick off and just having all your mates there to laugh with and generally muck about was the best. Great times.

So growing up in Surrey( me too near Woking, stilll live in Surrey but Walton-on-Thames, hence Wotspur) and your mate goes and supports a team in Hampshire...? Why not Woking ? My 2nd team, had great times following em, when I couldn't afford to get to WHL

It is a fair point, we lived more Bagshot/Camberley way which right on the border of Hampshire and a direct train too.

I remember some of those cup runs Woking had and if I remember didn't they give Millwall a bit of stick?

My wife used to hang out at the 'Walton Hop' before anyone realised that Jonathan King and friends who DJ'd there I think, liked young lads.....She was a Charlton Village girl.

Blimey, you're pulling out some crackers there....Derek Dougan, I can only remember him in the old gold Wolves shirt. Used to love Peter Taylor, think he followed another very old favourite of mine Jimmy Neighbour....that's about as far back as I go, Ralph Coates, Phil Beal, Gilzean Chivers etc. I was 9 think.
