I know a lot of people don't rate him but I do think there's a player there if we just give him a proper chance. Which means we'll be loaning him out for sure.

Might be the move for games he needs.

Palace considering approach for Spurs winger Johnson

Latest from Sky Sports News' James Savundra:
Crystal Palace are considering an approach for Tottenham Hotspur forward Brennan Johnson in January.
Palace are looking to sign a versatile attacking player next month, in part to fill the absence of Ismaila Sarr when he goes to the Africa Cup of Nations next week.
Johnson is one of a number of players the Eagles are looking at, hoping to bolster Oliver Glasner's squad for the second half of the season.

The 24-year-old Johnson scored the winning goal in last season's Europa League final for Spurs, but he has started only six Premier League matches this season under Thomas Frank.
Johnson signed for Spurs from Nottingham Forest in 2024, in a deal worth £47.5m. He had long been of interest to Brentford and others.
Spurs themselves want to sign a new left winger in January and Sky Sports News has already reported extensively on their interest in Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo.

If I had to guess one player that might leave this window, it would've been him, but there would need to be some kind of replacement.

Semenyo would definitely be an upgrade but Johnson always did ok. In fact I think he did better than ok and was probably our best goal threat for long periods of last season despite coming in for alot of stick at times.
We DID grossly overpay for him in fairness but that was never his fault.

I agree with you but I just didn't see BJ as a long term solution. Yeah he did well getting on the end of a number of crosses which did help us. I firmly believe he doesn't have the technical skill nor confidence to take on a defender despite his speed. In other words, he doesn't help us get the ball up the field. It has to come from elsewhere.

No you're right, he was never a long term solution. A squad player who was decent at times.
If we want to be challenging higher up the league we need to raise the bar. Problem is....and always is...if any from Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, or MU also want Semenyo, we probably wont get him.
There ya have it. The reality of a down beaten, repeatedly kicked in the balls, Spurs fan voicing his depressing yet realistic views.
You're welcome. 😁

Yes, this is the thing. It would be hard to upgrade on Johnson, especially in January.

But hey, maybe we should still sell—I hear BJs are quite expensive these days.

Think that's harsh tbh....17 goals last season in all comps. Hardly worthless. He hasn't had a proper run in the side this season...still scored 4 though.

Agreed. I think it’s one of those where, if he’s not going to kick up a fuss about not playing regularly, he’s good to have around. But at his age and with a (potential) World Cup this summer he’ll be itching to play

Worthless except at the back post 😬

BJ isn't a top 6 player...

We're not a top 6 club...

If we sold him without something better replacing him, we'd end up looking like proper cunts when we gets regular game time in a side that utilises him effectively and he scores a boat load of goals...

We will inevitably sell him... Without getting an improvement through the door...

Semenyo ain't gonna come to us, not in a month of Sundays, he'll get a way better, more fiscally advantageous offer and we'll end up with Djed Spence doing it...

Fuck Levy.
