Yes, the whole thing has been reduced to the spectacle of filthy hogs wallowing in their own shit while the rest of them spray them down with cash, but since I'm sure most of us will be watching, thought I'd start a thread. At the very least, I'm hoping for no additional injuries to our players participating.

FWIW, I think England will win.

If we update the lyrics to the famous 3 lions song released in 1996, it’s now 60 years of hurt.

WHAT.THE.ACTUAL.FUCK

Where has that time gone?

I remember the 86 World Cup well, I had a VHS called Hero which narrated by Michael Caine.

Mexico has always been a great host for football

I had the same video. My family got cable TV so we could watch the games. I remember watching the 82 final, but 86 was the first WC we could actually follow in this country. Lot of classic moments in that tournament.

Wake me up after groups. I’m protesting the new expanded field until then Unless there is a spicy upset brewing, of course

Yeah, it's an extremely bloated field. I imagine there will be some upsets, though, just because the standard is so much higher with some of the smaller nations. On the other hand, the large field is the least of what's fucked up about this tournament.

Do you think Toronto will be rocking like the Azteca was yesterday
Not sure how TO will be but here's a snippet of what's happening in Vancouver.

I understand friends of Crypty are here from OZ to follow the team.

This Bosnia team look like a midtable PL side in the early 90s. Physically imposing.

10 or 11 first half corners & Canada kept sending it in amongst the Bosnian Trees.

Disappointing that Canada didn't get the 3 points but they fully deserved the point. They showed far more intent, especially playing more direct in the 2nd half.

Yeah I thought Canada were good today. Honestly though I think (like the USA) they’re best playing on the break, and teams that sit back can make them uncomfortable. Some really exciting players though.

Canada is like Spurs but only in terms of their injury crisis.

@J.spurs USA is up next tonight. It will be nice to see Poch & how the team performs.

We’ll see. I think this is a fairly thin team in terms of quality, and like Canada, probably play best on the break. Paraguay will likely kick lumps out of them. Should be interesting…

Well that first half from the US reminded me of, dare I say, Poch's teams around 2016. How we'd just completely smother teams.

Bravo to Poch having that USA team play like that.
Very impressive especially the first half.

It is so much easier for a manager of a club team to play at such a high tempo but at the international level when you get so little time, every few weeks, with the team. These players must have really bought in to his style of play as they are arriving fit enough to play such a high octane style of play.

Other teams in this group watching this must be thinking "holy shit".

It will be tough to sustain, especially against stronger teams (thought Paraguay were useless) but that was brilliant, especially the first half.
