Poch could be fun for us americans. Can his style work with a national team, though? As we know he demands full fitness and that isn't built over an international window. It was always built over an intense preseason.

Also, I hope his English is better than he lets on. I remember every interview he did with us made it seem like he hardly understood and spoke English.

Positives for him: He is following such an ass manager in Berhalter that there is no pressure on him to succeed.

I have been apathetic about the USMNT in the past (for a long, long time). This could bring me back to watching and maybe even caring about them.

I've always believed that Poch was a genuinely, good hearted man. Always wish him the best.

As for the bolded part? Bielsa demands the same & it has worked for him at Uruguay & Chile.

Gonna make for some great Canada v USA matches.

It's an interesting move for sure. I'd like to think he wasn't short of offers for club management so something about the project must have appealed to him.

Literally the only thing that the USSF could've done to get me excited about our national team. I wanted him to return after Conte imploded, this is the next best thing. I seriously wonder if he didn't get a real look-in with England, because he's been pretty open in the past about admiring English players. It's a very low pressure job compared to almost any other national team role. Happy days for me.

I'd ask you to define fail Spurious because I can't see The US winning any major tournaments and its for this reason me personally hope he does well, well being wins a few important games and no more.

Agree DMackay. I have more dislike for that mob in West London than Woolwich! Controversial maybe, but its a fact where I'm concerned. I despise everything about that club and anyone any thing associated with them.

Haha, with no WC qualification to worry about, he doesn’t have that many chances to fail. If they get out of the group or maybe reached the quarterfinals in the WC he’ll have met expectations. With 48 teams in the competition and playing on home soil it’s a pretty good way to ease into international management with very little pressure or scrutiny. Same with Marsch, really. Saying that, unless I’ve missed it today Poch hasn’t been formally announced yet, which is kinda interesting.

I hate racists and my first trip to the Bridge was in the early 70s where we were in the open end and it pissed down most of the game and I experienced for the first time being hissed at by hundreds of their fans!
I didn’t know what it meant ATM but was informed about the Gas Chamber connection!
I could hardly believe it!
Happily we won 2-0 with two Jimmy Pearce goals and we ran the Shed boys all over the place afterwards so a good day!

My top dislikes of our rivals are the Chavs, Goons and I don’t particularly like the Dippers either!!
Spam aren’t significant enough but good for a laugh! 🤭

My precise definition of failure in this context is for Saint Mauricio to nurture young players, build the USMNT system, make America fall in love with soccer, and...meet Canada in an important match and collapse spectacularly.

As for the obligatory dig at our southern cousins, at least our air force is sticking to surveillance.

I love how he still refers to the club as "we". You know he's Spurs for life, no matter what.

As much as I'm behind RDZ, I still want to see Poch back one day to finish what he tried to start, especially with this new squad.

One thing I will say is that he’d have these young players improving. RDZ may too, but I always thought that was Poch’s biggest strength.

I'm not convinced with RDZ... He's yet to prove a fucking thing to me...

Poch had his run, it was fucking superb, I loved every minute of it...

I do not want that tainted... And you know it will be...
