He was good innit? I remember one day at the Lane, sitting in the posh seats in the West stand, front row, some wazzock was shouting at him the whole game 'on the left Bale, you play on the fucking left', after a while Gareth turned to him and said 'oh shut up', I of course was not so polite. I can't remember which game it was but I remember another visit to the Lane when he scored with a magnificent free kick, then later in the game I whispered to myself 'he can't do it again can he?' - he fecking did!

Definitely as good as Mbappe if not better. Remember the goal against Stoke? UCL final vs the Scouse? Norwich away? West ham away? Inter Milan hat trick, plus so many others, and that doesn't include the assists - Taxi for maicon etc. Simply one of the best in my era.
The West Ham away winner doesn't get talked about as much but it's my favorite. My memory is of him screaming at Tommy Carroll to give him the ball and get out of the way before he just absolutely leathered it in.

Best player to wear the shirt in my time following this club. That includes Hoddle, Gazza and Kane.

His best was the best I have seen at Spurs.

Oofff that's a big statement...

He was class... and arguably the most dynamic and exciting... but Modric...? Berbatov did things that I've seen no player do.

same as @Yid difficult to compare - Bale was certainly one of the most dynamic and a real game changer, fantastic footballer, astonishing goals, but Kane is surely the best on many levels and by most measures.

Yep, Berbie used to give me shivers when I saw him play, him and Robbie were a joy to watch when they were footy bruvvers. I agree with @Don Diaz, Kane has to be the best for me: nearly 20 years with the club - I think he arrived in 2004'ish after being dumped by the goons for being a cubby little fucker - ha ha goons! He started scoring many goals in his first full season while Gareth was a bit pony at the start of his career with us but Sir Harry of Sandbanks got him sorted out? Maybe Bale stood out more with his moments of brilliance.

Yeah... I just glosed over our once in a generation, record-breaking striker...!!!

Its hard to look past him to be honest...

Here's another question...

Greaves or Kane... I know you shouldn't compare apples and orranges, but they're both strikers and with Kane almost undoubtedly going to surpass Greavsie's Spurs and England records... maybe he is the GOAT.

Add in he will surpass Shera soon for the Prem highest goal scorer too (probably this season) the numbers seriously start to add up...

JG and HK - very different game and very different style of players. I don't think Jimmy was the all round player Harry is, yeah he popped the goals in but normally from about a foot away. Harry will need 2 or 3 more seasons to catch Shearer in the PL record, he's 62 goals behind - but his MPG (Minutes Per Goal) is much better, Shearer 147, Garry 127.

Have been watching highlights on and off for the last couple days. Some great, great memories. Shame he never won anything with us :(
