Couldn't see a match thread, game less than a week away.

Part of me is really looking forward to the new season, part of me is really apprehensive as we don't seem to know our best 11 yet. Lots of games, formations and players preseason.

We still seem to be finding our feet to me.

Worrying as we're out of pre-season friendlies now and things about to become serious.

I must admit I'm probably more optimistic about a new season than I have been in a while, although I think that feeling would have been significantly higher if we'd managed to replace Solanke with an actual striker.

We've made some great signings so far though and if RDZ can get the team playing then who knows ?. I certainly don't think it'll be 3rd successive bottom half finish at all.

I'd probably even take the Conference League if that's how it ended up.

PSF, doesn't mean a whole lot. Although if they have played their first 11 (unlike us) then could be a bumpy ride next week
According to the match report I read, they did. Igor Thiago and Kevin Schade each had a brace. But yeah, there's always a massive asterisk beside these preseason results.

For the record, I'm predicting a draw: 1-1. IMO we look pretty solid in the back and through midfield. Scoring goals is another issue.

Gonna thrash them 4-0 on the way to an invincible season. Next year champions league winners then RDZ crashes out with ownership and is sacked

I'd take a top half finish...

That's massive progress.

I have not seen us play other than in highlights so it very difficult to predict. But I do like the look of our yet to be completed overhaul. I believe we've upgraded in every area that we've addressed. As for our attacking 3rd, I was hoping for a significant change at CF with an Osimhen or Leao. The latter being more effective on the wing but is a bit suspect character wise of late. Just thought the idea of being in the Prem might rejuvenate him, even if only for the season. But I get it that RDZ wants Prem proven players.

I'm feeling confident enough that we'll finish top half. Solanke & Richy can score so if they get more service we can get top 8. If we get Savinho & a very good CF in the next 2 weeks, we'll get a Europa League or even a CL spot.

Some excerpts from DeZerbi's presser...

Injury news
Micky is not on the list tomorrow like Pedro Porro. James Maddison is inside [it], Solanke inside, Udogie, Fernandes also. Sarr not because he felt some pain, but nothing big.Kudus is almost ready.

On Van de Ven missing pre-season

Today he worked with us, with the group and he is going very well. He suffered a problem during the pre-season of Australia, I don’t know if it was the flight, but not a big problem. We have Senesi, we have Ben Davies and in the right condition to play the game tomorrow.

De Zerbi on whether he wants to sign a new right-back

In this moment I think no, we have Archie Gray, he prefers playing in the midfield position, but he can play very well also as a right-back.I think we are good. I don't want 25, 26 players, I want 21, 22 players, I think that's enough, especially if these players or more players, they can adapt in more positions on the pitch, and I think we have many players who can play in different positions, Gray midfielder, right back, Gallagher number 10 or number 8, it's the same Micky van de Ven or Ben Davies left back, I think we have Kudus, winger or number 10, we have a lot of solutions.
