So sick of watching us recycle the ball through the back 3 every time we get it. It’s so predictable and makes us easy to play against.

We literally have 3 right wing backs with 2 more guys who can play there yet not one progressive midfielder.

And a manager who is great at what he knows best but seems to have limited imagination and no backup plan.

Probably a fair result on paper but hugely frustrating again.

It’s getting to a point where it’s just sad to watch Sonny now. That hat trick just papered over the cracks I think. Attack after attack broke down tonight because he fucked up either receiving the ball or trying to play it forward or he just flat out got shoved out of the way and off the ball.

We’re still grinding our way through games with nobody really clicking and very little attacking flair. I can appreciate the safety first approach to a point because if you don’t concede then you don’t lose but it’s fucking frustrating to watch.

Seems a little obvious to say at this point that we are crying out for a playmaking midfielder. We just run out of ideas in games like these.

I do agree but I think the problem would be that it would require an adjustment to the formation and we’ve already seen there’s little chance of that happening.

If we reverted to a 4-3-2-1 we could have Hojbjerg and Bentancur doing the donkey work in midfield and giving the ball to the playmaker with any two of Sonny/Kulusevski/Richarlison/whoever behind Kane.

Encourage the FB’s to get forward and you having your wide attacking options as well.

I don't think we could even play a 4-2-3-1 anymore. Who would play as the 10? Kulu would be the most obvious but he is better out wide, cutting in and whipping crosses. The one player who could do it well is Kane, but do you give up 20 goals for that? No way Conte does that. It's amazing but for all our signings, we're still pretty thin for a CL squad. Last night we had to bring on Sessegnon and Davies. Real Madrid we ain't.
