A crippled Lamela is better than the rest of the squad! COYS!

Do fucking what? Are you in the wrong forum? Better than the rest of the squad? You are talking bollocks.

Well he was certainly better than Llorente, Jan, Sissoko, Alli, Rose and Dier. This was not a good performance to say the least.

A Harry Kane that isn't 100% Fit/Sharp is a hindrance to the team. Dele as well looks way out of touch and needs a rest.

There I've said it.

Missed chances did us there...
Yep and the fact that the ref was a cunt. He fell for their cheating and I hope the cunt who got Lamella booked gets done by the new rules on simulation and the yellow card is wiped - I don't think that can happen in the stupid FA rules though. We had plenty of chances as you say, they defended really well. Sometimes i think we try and be too clever, so many times we try and pass the perfect ball through a sea of defenders, or play the clever chip over their heads - maybe we need blokes like Dembele and Dier to have a few long range industrial efforts, OK a few people in the crowd may die, but you weren't prepared to be killed by a football then you should watch lawn bowls.

Not a disappointing performance , plenty of effort, on another day we might have scored 4 or 5 and it was great to see Erik back.

I actually thought it was an enjoyable game...poor decision making in the final 3rd cost us...IMO was an improvement on Sat

The way I feel right now if Barca offered us £100m for Dele I would jump at the opportunity

Why did you say it?

Because it's what I believe. He's played too much football and he's fucked, he needs a rest. At least three of them do. I'd rather roll out a 'B' side in the next one, give them a week off and then get back to basics, something isn't clicking and it starts with everyone being fit (mentally and physically) and we build from there.

Bit of recalibration of expectation levels going on right now. Faltering in front of goal, and not exactly getting any luck of late. Only taken a couple of years for us to have a patch like this, doesn’t feel particularly great but we’ll be back to winning ways this w/e.

Someone’s gonna be on the end of a thumping from us soon.

So we didn't play well? Had our chances and didn't take them? The stats read like we should have got a draw at worst.

Funny old game this football lark, well not funny really, very frustrating, doesn't make any sense sometimes. Hope that's a bit of a dodgy patch over, Lamela is back Eriksen and/or Dele can get a rest. Victor will be back soon, and we miss Toby. Remember this is the new High achieving Spurs.....where even failure has an echo of glory??

Fuck sake...

Didn't see the game but this result is heaping pressure on our side like it hasn't seen before.

Time for Poch to sit them down and have some honest convo's with a few of them I reckon.

COYS we need to show our resiliance and that as a team we can hustle and graft out a December of decent performances...

I'm not overly fussed about results as performances will usually bring those I just want us to play well with passion and huge swinging bollox and be scared of no cunt.

COYFS.

Maybe, but he keeps scoring. Certainly he should be nowhere near the pitch when we play APOEL, but it would be stunning if he wasn't out there for the rest of the upcoming fixtures. On a very much related note, for his sake and the club's Llorente has to start taking advantage of these cameos he keeps getting. I didn't see the last 30 minutes or so, but apparently he squandered a chance late?

i think sitter more than chance is the best description.

The Cryptkeeper's ratings:

Lloris - not at fault for either goal and had very little to do otherwise. 6
Sanchez - reasonable game, got caught out a couple of times but generally solid. 6
Vertonghen - not tight enough on Mahrez for the second goal. Average game. 5
Dier - generally poor. 4
Aurier - got forward and whipped in a couple of nice crosses. Also fired in a couple of awful balls. Developing a bad habit of putting his team under pressure with a stupid pass or two as well. 5
Rose - awful. His choice of ball today was deplorable. Can go to Manchester United for all I care and we can spend the money on Sessegnon. 3
Dembele - didn't look sharp, was dispossessed a few times and that never happens. I love the guy but he is struggling. 5
Sissoko - cops criticism from Spurs fans but the one thing I will give him credit for is that he works very hard. Is an uncultured footballer but he isn't shirking it. There were a few worse than him today. 5
Eriksen - nope. Nowhere near his best form. Struggles when there are players tight on him and missed an absolute gift. 4
Dele - tried hard but nothing much happened for him today. 5
Kane - Nice goal but really had very little impact. 5

Son - kept running into road blocks when he came on. 4
Llorente - missed a sitter. Good player but his confidence is shot. 3
Lamela - the only one who looked like unlocking anything. His assist was better than given credit for and created space. 6

Top 4 is far from a given now and we are not winning the title. I am not sure what the problem is but we are just not clicking, certainly not domestically. Kane is not fit and we lack a "plan B" at the moment. We need to turn this around quickly otherwise the season may unravel.

Frustrating the goals we conceded and frustrating the goals we didn't put away... On another day Llorente, Sissoko, Rose and Eriksen all put away their chances and we win by 2 or 3 goals.

I'm Eriksen's biggest fan but I think he needs to sit one out - looks sluggish and out of sorts since returning from the internationals. Hopefully Lamela's return will put a bit more pressure on the likes of Alli and Eriksen to step it up and also offer us an alternative. There's too much focus on those 2 to do something to unlock the defence and teams just have to nullify and force the likes of Dier, Sissoko (who was uninspiring and generally shit again) and Dembele on the ball to do little to nothing creative or attacking. That's not their fault as that isn't part of their game but either we develop one of the CMs to include that aspect or we invest and bring in a CM who can contribute in the way Eriksen does, i.e. goals and assists. In our current system, nullifying Alli and Eriksen also stops any service to Kane other than from the wing backs. That's fine if you have a Trippier on both wings putting in great crosses but Rose was awful with his delivery today. Aurier was better but some of his were a bit wayward.

I'm desperate for Llorente to do well. Not just because I like him as a player but we have to have someone to help Kane with the goalscoring and to actually be able to give him a rest rather than feel pressure to play him every single match. But he really doesn't help his case with misses like today. No doubting he's got ability, the lad just has to hit the back of the net. Please. Soon. Please.

Defensively I think 3 CBs works for us but offensively we lose something by just having the 2 behind Kane. We don't have a CM to contribute to the attack. Also, I think today again highlighted the need to pin Toby down to an extended/improved contract. By far our best defender and we look a bit frail back there without him.

Wasn't all bad. As I say, on another day 2 or 3 of those glorious chances would've gone in and we wouldn't have conceded 2 silly goals. Was nice to see Lamela back and it was a great little assist too. Even though he wasn't on the pitch long he looks far sharper and comfortable than I thought he would after such a long time out. Hopefully he can put the last year behind him and kick on now!

Llorente's looked like a sitter but I don't think it was.
He was being tightly marked & had to get around the backside of the defender.
Sometimes that entails losing sight of the ball.
Consequently, he also wrong footed himself & ended up having to use his right foot.

On another day, he would have buried it.

I can understand that point of view but the mistake Llorente made is that he tried to put his foot through the ball when all he needed to do was get a touch.

What I meant was that he may have lost sight of the ball as it was briefly obscured by the defender. Just a theory.
And he should have used his left foot to tap it in.

TBH you dont have to be over 6ft,a world cup winner international player to score that, really we could take sterling for the bench and have a good look at him if our TBF 3 previous&current back up strikers miss what should be regulation chances. If that was Kane at the far post its 2-2.We threw kane, mason, andros, winks in because we had little to lose at the time,i am begining to think we may as well give a younger player experience, worst comes to the worst come december he still wouldnt have scored.

The Mahrez goal was like watching Robben or Bale play. Cut, cut, shoot, goal. Not sure why you'd keep dropping off when you know he loves to shoot from range and is good at it.

Don't know if I have said it here or in the other place, but he's consistently done that.

Oh its that all he needed to do? I didn't realise it was that easy, we should all play professional football if it's that easy.
