Do we like VAR now?

Dunno, but I've developed a new ritual, started in the CL at City last spring. When we concede a late winner, I get angry, go for a piss that I've been holding in for 45 minutes, and wait for the kids to summon me back to tell me the goal's been disallowed. 2-for-2 so far.Do we like VAR now?
Agree with this, it was a weird one, they dominated most of the game but scored their second at the end of a pretty good 10-minute spell for us. I'm sure VAR will dick us in the future, so I don't feel bad at all about the result, especially after hearing Pep still moaning about Llorente's goal four months later. A point from what is our most difficult fixture, and we didn't even play that well (and they did.) Happy days.Have to say that performance was great... proud of the lads graft and sticking in there right until the end.
Have to give credit to them... they were utterly fucking rampant and they will blow most sides away playing worse than that this season...
Their substitutes bench is disgusting... they can bring on like for like world class seasoned winners in every position to change the dynamic of the game.snd keep it fresh.
Again much credit to the Poch. He adapted the system and personnel to gain advantages around the pitch and his substitutions developed our options and eased the pressure somewhat.
Thought KWP and (especially) Rose coped very very well once the system changed.
Not sure GLC saw enough of the ball to make comment, he especially didnt do anything moving in the right direction.
Lamella was impressive again, Winks great but again did his best work as a fulcrum and didnt do much to effect the game going forwards. Streaky was ineffective but fodnt have enough of the ball or time on the ball to do his thing. Did H play today....? He was not given anything to do because they're fucking good and we didnt have enough of the ball... our CBs need a rest, theybwere run absolute raged by Augero/Sterling/everyone else... they did ok.
Great point, didnt probably deserve it even with our herculean efforts as they were so dominant.
Certainly felt like it in the ground. It'll bite us in the arse at some point in the season, it's all swings and roundabouts though.Do we like VAR now?
Hahah nail on the head bruv.... but the entire point if the fucking thing is for it not to be swings and roundabouts and for it to iron things out flat and honest.Certainly felt like it in the ground. It'll bite us in the arse at some point in the season, it's all swings and roundabouts though.
I agree about VAR, but in this case for me the issue is more the so-called "black and white" handball rule. Under the rules, they (Oliver and the the VAR crew) were well within their rights to choose not to give the penalty, because they didn't think it was clear and obvious. The handball they had no choice about.Hahah nail on the head bruv.... but the entire point if the fucking thing is for it not to be swings and roundabouts and for it to iron things out flat and honest.
Lamella should have conceded a pen way more than that was handball... utter dog shit system that is on course to ruin the game.
..and Lamella's better at corners than anyone else we've got, we score from corners now!Stole a point, fine with me. I think we’re a lot better than we showed. KWP did well in my book, and Dav was really good. Not a big Lamela fan (our most skillful bit somehow least effective player) but he was controlled and scored a great goal today. Maybe there’s more to come from him.
Once we get going we’ll be able to compete with City, but today we were way off their level.
That's the point that'll make the difference end of the season!
They fucking battered us, but we were determined and when that 3rd went in I actually felt hard done by.
Vert should have been on in my opinion. Sanchez isn't comfortable of the left. Unless Vert has told poch he can fuck right off, he needs to be on.
Lamela scored but by fuck Moura needs to be on ahead of him. He is savage in front of goal. Sorry Lamela. Thanks for scoring!
KWP was great! Sterling has grown into an absolute force, but KWP stuck to the task and tamed him as much as he could.
Remember when Sissoko was shit... Why was that again.... Oh yes because he was played in the forward right position. Wind your neck in poch. It didn't work, It won't work, it'll never work!
His industry is his saving grace. He has been superb in pre seasonal nd in both games so far imo.Jeez mate, that’s harsh on Lamela. I thought he was quite comfortably our best player. He scored a beauty and delivered the corner on a platter for Moura.
For me he was our only attacking outlet.
I do get the lamela criticism, but how eriksen got a free pass yesterday?,bloke scored, got the assist and still gets called out before others.Done ok so far this year, certainly better than christian for me.Hard to judge our midfield from yesterday, they were under so much pressure all the time,we found keeping the ball almost impossible. His industry is his saving grace. He has been superb in pre seasonal nd in both games so far imo.
I'd argue his workrate is making him something like the player we all thought we were getting...
Obviously ti be at the top you need ability but that's worth fuck all if you dont graft.
We weren’t good, but it was City away FFS!! Last time I looked it was about putting the ball in the net, well we did it twice and so did they, end of.
Yeah, some pretty sensible takeaways from that. It was striking to me, as he alludes to, that we really miss Son.I'm feeling lazy, so I will just link this tweet/thread because it sums up a lot of my thoughts:

I think it was more missing son, moura or dele to pose a threat running beyond kane, pushing them deeper, giving us an outlet behind their pressing midfield. With our FBs pinned back, ndombele, sissoko, winks fairly deep trying to fight the rising tide.that left lamela and eriksen who arent the types to break beyond Kane, more the types to play a ball slipped through the lines for a runner.Yeah, some pretty sensible takeaways from that. Yeah, that's two points dropped by City, and I'd settle for the same at Liverpool. We were lucky but that's part of football and we took our chances whereas they didn't.I think it was more missing son, moura or dele to pose a threat running beyond kane, pushing them deeper, giving us an outlet behind their pressing midfield. With our FBs pinned back, ndombele, sissoko, winks fairly deep trying to fight the rising tide.that left lamela and eriksen who arent the types to break beyond Kane, more the types to play a ball slipped through the lines for a runner.
I can understand moura being held back as an impact sub,and thats easy to say in hindsight because it worked,if he started would we just have been one more light in midfield?or would we have had more of an outlet to keep the ball?
The plan wasnt perfect, but Poch is searching for different tactics,as was said we have gone for it at liverpool and city and got nothing despite having good performances, whilst we didnt do an italian job, shutting up effectively, hugo only had a couple of great saves to make, and last 20mins they were reduced to huffing and puffing..I would settle for another untidy performance at anfield where we dont keep the ball so much and allow salah, firminio and mane to counter,if we get points.
