The very last game at the old Lane, of course the new Lane will still be the Lane to all of us, whatever they decide to call it, but it will still be very emotional.

I don't do 'must win' games very often, it is a very overused term, a 'must win' is a cup final, a game that would decide the title or doom us to relegation, so I don't usually say games are 'must win' because they ain't. This IS a 'must win' game.

We all remember that game on the 29th September 2012 when we finally beat United at Old Trafford after, I think it was 22 years, certainly the first away win against them in the Premier League. We had only won 3 of the 31 previous Premiership encounters against them before that magnificent day when our glorious heroes, Gareth Bale, Clint Dempsey and Johnny Evans ended the long cycle of gloom. I wonder what odds you could have got on a Spurs win with an Evans own goal and fucking Dempsey getting the winner!

This will be a tough game and our boys need to dig deep to send the fans home happy or there will be a riot and seats will be removed, bits of the pitch will be dug cup and all sorts of stuff will go on, I expected even the urinal cakes will be pilfered.

COYS!

I am pleased our opponents are United, I don't really remember a bad game of football between the 2 teams (ignoring results).

A fitting end to our glorious home.

The Premier League has announced that Jon Moss will take charge of the final match at White Hart Lane as Tottenham Hotspur welcome Jose Mourinho's Manchester United.

The 46-year-old will referee the match, which kicks off at 4.30pm on Sunday, with Eddie Smart and Andy Halliday running the lines and Lee Mason the fourth official.

Moss has dished out 134 yellow cards and three reds in his 32 Premier League and two EFL Cup matches this season. He earned the displeasure of the Spurs fans in their recent 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, particularly for a number of fouls called against Mousa Dembele while some tough challenges on Tottenham players seemed to go unnoticed, although Victor Wanyama did escape a second yellow card in a fraught first half.

Remember that City game a few years back when he sent off Fazio and awarded about 800 penalties?

This is all actually a bit difficult isn't it? Last game at the Lane, hasn't really sunk in yet.

I've had the wind taken out of my sails a bit after the West Ham result, bit of a hammer blow having reduced the gap to 4 points and won 9 on the bounce. Ridiculous really, because I can't remember anything like it in all my years supporting Spurs. I sort of knew that Chelsea weren't going to cock up 3 times, whilst we won 13 games on the trot, but you never really know in football do you? Wigan beat Man City in the Cup final after all, as did Sunderland against Leeds, but they were one-off matches. We did brilliantly mounting any sort of challenge at all, what happend to everyone else? Pathetic and embarrassing to be honest, someone should tell the media.

I don't know how I'm going to feel, I hope the players and manager get cheered to the old rooftops when they come out, they thoroughly deserve it. We have bested City, United, Liverpool and Arsenal, with their millions to spend and 'superstar' managers. Only one team, who we beat convincingly on 4th January at White Hart Lane, was better than us this season and they have benefitted significantly with no European football or serious injuries to speak of. Had we not had Kane twice, Alderweireld and Rose out injured for lengthy periods, I'm sure we would be top of the tree.

But let's celebrate on Sunday, loud and proud, for this has been a magnificent season. We've smashed records everywhere, scored goals for fun and have some of the most exciting talent in Europe. This is still a young group and a young manager, waiting to move into a new ground, of which we can, once again be very proud. Spurs keep delivering, throughout our history, a series of firsts and the new stadium, following the training ground before it, is no exception.

I have missed 'standing on the shelf' for several years now, but still enjoy sitting there. It'll be Paxton on Sunday, but I'll will sing, cheer and shout for the whole 90 minutes, probably with an emotional tear in my eye. The boys can win this, regardless of what Chelsea do on Friday, I hope they are aware of just how good they've been this season and carry it through to the end. They're all heroes in my book, playing for the last time in a stadium that's seen many heroes like them before in it's 118 years. Kane, Alli and Eriksen in a 3-1 win (although I'd love Jan to get a goal). Good luck lads. COYS

Screw you Utd, even your favourite son loves us. Gotta love red Nev, well now anyway!

I just hope we get the win that the history of this ground deserves and the effort and entertainment that this team has given us, especially over the last couple of years.

Just hope the lads give us the performance that befits our final match at our wonderful WHL.

Had a bit of a disagreement with a Chelsea and Liverpool fan at work today. I was talking about how historic and emotional that final game will be for us on Sunday, they thought it was hilarious and offered me a reality check. According to them, the only people who care about WHL disappearing is the fans, the players get paid to kick a ball around a pitch and don't give a shit about the club. In fact they went as far as saying that we'll be lucky if one or two of this current team are even around when NWHL opens.

You can tell I have a great time at my workplace with these goons to deal with....

As for our final game ever at WHL, I personally feel honoured and privileged to be a part of this wonderful club. I still remember my first game which was against Coventry City (remember them?) and sitting in the Park Lane thinking omg...

Emotional doesn't even cut it...

Ask either of them, how many times have they won a major european trophy on their own turf!!we have done it twice, yeah the scouser will go we won it 5 times, the chav you ll never sing that song, but they have never done that!!
The scouser should wind his neck in,their stadium is a right hotch potch now,not in the same league as NWHL and the chav will end up with an egg slicer looking smaller stadium.
In that book the lane, many players talk about the lift from the fans,it is fact, the good vibes and support we give them,I mean we at the lane not hyper critical loony toons on the internet. There is nothing like the lane when the team is up against it and COYS belted out pushes them on,those who dont think it makes a difference simply dont attend matches or matches at the Lane. The players do give a shit,Micky H,graham roberts, martin chivers, ricky&ossie,Gary Mabbutt,Gary Stevens, gazza,Rafa VDV,cliff jones,Alan Gilzean the list goes on,non local lads but if you follow them or meet them the club is still a huge part of their lives.Eden Hazard, costa, coutinio, firminio, suarez those guys dont give a shit about chelsea or liverpool, its a job/career/money,a lot of our players become spurs family for life, obviously not all,we`ve had dark era`s,but not these years. This is the 80s all over again, these players will be friends for life, chelsea, arse, city, think they (the players now) will still be socialising together when they are 50,I think not.I think your work mates represent their own level of support for a team they merely follow.

Fuck em all.fuck em all.......

I guess a lot of it depends on the experiences you've had at the old place, personally I had some awful days and nights watching some pretty dire sure stuff back in the 90's and early 00's. On the flip side, those emotions that you go thru during those 90 minutes, is not only synonymous with you as a Spurs fan but it enables you to build a relationship with the stadium itself. The more you actually go to a game at the Lane, the more of an emotional attachment you have with it.

If you've never been to the Lane as a Spurs fan, the less emotional attachment you're likely to have with it. I work with a fellow Yid and asked him whether he'll be sad to see it go (he's only been once) and he wasn't really that bothered and more excited about the new whl.

I'm probably just talking bollocks!!

But that is exactly what it's all about, if you've just been an armchair fan from North Wales for example and just slag everything off all the time, thinking you're a clever dick, you're probably not that bothered....

@skiathospurs fancy coming to work with me? Could do with you telling them what for!

@Chavhater01 I totally understand what you mean! Early 00's made some interesting viewing at the Lane. Hence why I feel like I'm being spoilt rotten right now by what I'm watching. I keep saying it, but this (for my generation) is a very special group of players and I feel very lucky to have seen them play.

A lot of the 'newer' fans have no idea what most of us have already sat through!

United are currently defending a 1-0 lead at home to Celta Vigo, with 10 men behind the ball and on the rack, Vigo missing several good chances. How times have changed....

Finished 1-1....United incredibly lucky, but good for us I would imagine.

In the vast majority of big games involving Mourinho as the manager, they tend to be shit, because he's too overly cautious and it's a style of football I can't stand to watch.

He's built a very successful career on negating attacking teams and he's very good at it but I gave up watching his teams play in the big games a while ago. He gets the job done far more often than not but he does it by playing uninventive football and I think it's cop out football to be honest.

and CL football next season. This Ajax team are a joy to watch but sad to say they look like exactly the kind of team that will get done by Jose's negative tactics in the final.

All true, but it depends what flavour you like your football. Martin O'Neill was similarly reasonably successful playing the same way and you could argue Simeone has done well at Atletico Madrid.

The Mourinho way is not for me, trophies or not.

Oh yes indeed, remember in the other place when that clever, educated bloke with more university degrees than he presumed any of the rest of us had, said he would rather we won 1-0 and parked the bus in every game? Oh how we chuckled and politely pointed out that while we respected his opinion and his right to post that opinion - he was in fact a total cunt.

Personally I loved the thrills we got with Harry, but not the spills, I was bored to tears with AVB but the results were statically OK, I love the proper Spurs-style football AND the results under the Poch, happy days, he's magic you know.

Since Porto, where his success cannot be questioned, because he had little budget, Mourinho has bought success, given a year or two more he will do the same at United, £90m for Pogba, £5m Dele Alli.

'The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.'

Paul Pogba to miss match against Tottenham Hotspur after his father passes

The hugely talented Manchester United midfielder has not travelled with the team after the death of his father.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba will not play against Tottenham Hotspur in the last-ever match at White Hart Lane. And while normally that would be reason enough for Spurs fans to celebrate, it’s actually a sad state of affairs. Pogba has not travelled with the United squad to north London after the death of his father.

Sky Sports is reporting that Fassou Antoine passed away at the age of 79 after a long illness, and Pogba has returned home to be with his family. This is obviously an extremely sad turn of events and we wish Pogba comfort and healing in the days to come.

Pogba’s absence probably doesn’t change things too much for United, as it was quite likely he wouldn’t start anyway. While Arsenal’s win on Saturday means United are still four points behind the Gunners for fourth place, but with a game in hand. That said, Jose Mourinho is still expected to rotate his squad for the highly emotional match against Spurs, and it’s likely he’ll want as fresh of a side as possible when they play Ajax in thee Europa League final.

Marouane Fellaini will also miss the match for United due to suspension after Sergio Aguero pushed his forehead into Fellaini’s face. Ashley Young, Marcos Rojo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Luke Shaw are all out injured.
