I was just reading an interview with Populous managing director Chris Lee from a couple months back. Generally the interview says much of what we already know but 1 bit made my jaw hit the floor.

In it he says, "you see the cab on the crane up there? That's roughly how high it will be when complete!"

Look in the pictures at where the cabs are on the crane ... holy sheeeete!

We've built 5 levels so far (count them in the pics),the finished stadium will have 9 ... NINE!

That's just proper bonkers. I saw those renders before but the size never really occurred to me at the time. It's only when you see just how large the construction is already, and then compare it to those mock-ups that it really hits home how massive this thing is going to be!

It's a Tottenham Hotspur special in this week's Premier League World, as interviews with chairman Daniel Levy and senior architect Christopher Lee reveal Spurs' new stadium plans.

It's basically the same as that NBC documentary from the other month, but re-edited for a UK audience and with a few tweaks here and there

I loved hearing Levy say "I won't be satisfied until we've won the League". He's taken some flak in his time, but Levy has really become one of the best chairman in the League and to hear him publicly voice his ambition so forcefully just sent shivers down my spine.

1 thing I spotted, and I may be reading into this a bit, but there was heavy implications that the roof may be able to close like at Centre Court Wimbledon. That would be CRAZY! I'm not sure, but I think that would make us the 1st Premier club to have a retractable roof on our stadium.

I tell you, it might at first seem a bit strange, but the atmosphere when playing under the roof is quite unique and special. It's just very, very different and, what's more, on a cold, stormy winter night we'll all be especially thankful for it!

If anyone has been in the Principality Stadium (Ex-Millenium) when Wales play under the roof then you'll know what I'm talking about! It's LOUD!

Not been to the Millennium for rugby but done the Speedway GP a few times and can vouch for the acoustics!

I'd think that would require so much logistically that it would have been in the plans from the outset, and that we'd have heard about it already if it was going to be the case.

At present its a cable roof,would be a significant planning change and would be part of the build already IMO,also the skylounge/walk area are planned dont think we could have both.I think it was merely populous who did centre court that it referred to.

Well, they said "we looked at lots of buildings... the sliding fields, we did a lot of work where we went to Arizona, we did the sliding pitch there, but equally we looked at the moving roof we did over Centre Court at Wimbledon..."

That's quite a specific reference. All that said, I'm wondering perhaps if he meant that they looked at it in terms of the technology and whether it could be used on our sliding pitch, rather than our roof.

Incidentally, who remembers Mark Wahlberg's impromptu visit to White Hart Lane last November? Well, turns out it's nothing to do with him being a Spurs fan (although, who knows, he may now be converted!). He was actually there in support of his brother, Paul, who owns a burger chain in America. Whilst in England filming, Mark was looking into the possibility of Paul opening a restaurant in the U.K. and, in America, they've been quite successful opening near sporting venues. He heard about our new stadium build and thought it may represent an opportunity, so he took his brother Paul with him to investigate. So, maybe, one of the Half-Time snacks we could enjoy is a burger at Wahlburgers!

There were some bits about their visit on the Spurs page but the restaurant actually has its own reality show, and an entire episode of the most recent series was dedicated to Mark and Paul's day out at the Lane, and whilst it is very clear the that neither Mark nor Paul know the 1st thing about "soccer", and even less about Spurs, they looked to have a great time and it's all pretty hilarious!

I think this is right. I've seen one or two of these retractable roof setups in person over here, and the size and scale of them is amazing. That said, I really don't see any reason for them for football in London. Granted, the modern footballer is a bit precious, but they won't melt if they get a bit of rain/snow on them.

Thats how I took it,just we were thorough in our research,i am sure sliding roof would have been well publicised,as well needing to be planned and approved.

Saw the wahlburgers programme last year,i like marks work but yeah they did come across a bit plastic shall I say.

True, but don't forget that this isn't solely a football stadium. It's, at the very least, football and NFL, and if they're to host Boxing, concerts, etc then a retractable roof might be essential.

It's like at the Principality, you wouldn't have said Rugby Union needs a roof, but the stadium has one for other events and, because it's there, they end up using it for some Rugby games anyway and its proven quite popular

Always seen stadium pictures as open bowl. Never seen anything alluding to a moveable roof.

I know there is talk of a lot of structure going up, and it has 1/3 of the height yet to go up... but remember, that's lots of the roof, they've already hit the concrete max height in the new North stand... could be looking at 2/3 of the stadium concrete wise being done by the end of the season.

Wish I could get my hands on a piece of old White Hart Lane, just as a keep sake, but I can't see it happening!
