Tottenham make secret payment to the FA to play at Wembley Stadium until New Year as new White Hart Lane is NOT ready
Spurs were due to move into new 62,000-seat stadium at the start of this season but the project has been delayed
It means Spurs are preparing to play Premier League AND Champions League home games at Wembley until their magnificent new White Hart Lane home is fully ready.
Spurs have been forced to pay the FA a significant amount of cash to make sure they can remain at Wembley until building work is complete in their traditional north London roots.
They were supposed to be opening their new stadium on September 15 in a glamour game against Liverpool, but site insiders claim there is no chance of it being ready in time.
Levy is so concerned about the timetable that he has also told Uefa that Spurs could play their group games in the Champions League at Wembley.
An FA official said: “Spurs have taken up the option to come to Wembley for a number of Premier League home games and the home games in the group stage of the Champions League.
“However, it is still their intention to play their home games at White Hart Lane after the Fulham game (at Wembley).”
Spurs were given special dispensation by the Premier League to play at Wembley for one home game because construction work at the new White Hart Lane overran.
Now they are preparing for an even longer stay after activating a clause in a contract with the FA to play more games at Wembley.
I`ve seen it confirmed we are waiting for a stronger pound because all those french cheeses are too expensive now. Some cunt forgot to order the couscous. It was probably Sissoko.
Thin end of the wedge....they have been careful not to give any reasons or hard and fast dates. It’s massively badly handled by the club who seem to be delivering bad news after bad news. I just wish that maybe once Levy would show a degree of honesty with the fans - the life blood of the club, rather than taking them for granted again. It’s a disgrace, not the overrun, that happens, the way it’s been handled over the past 24 months.....and I’m more of a Levy fan than most.So barring further delays, that puts Man City as our stadium-opener.
same day as NFL match at wembley 28th??talk about fucking timing. So barring further delays, that puts Man City as our stadium-opener.
The fucking Sun and talksport told us before our own fucking club, what the actual fuck are they thinking??Thin end of the wedge....they have been careful not to give any reasons or hard and fast dates. It’s an utter disgrace from a club that until 24 months ago had a generally good relationship with its fans. They’ve lost the plot across the board at the moment and seriously need to consider some positive but honest messages, that respect the support they receive. The fucking Sun and talksport told us before our own fucking club, what the actual fuck are they thinking??
Right, and lack of communication/transparency leads to conspiracy theories and worst-case scenarios making the rounds. All of which makes what should be a very exciting period potentially toxic. Unbearably if we start losing matches.Thin end of the wedge....they have been careful not to give any reasons or hard and fast dates. Wonder (rhetorical question) if they would have announced it now if it hadn't been leaked. The fucking Sun and talksport told us before our own fucking club, what the actual fuck are they thinking??
