Old Spurs

Just a bit of nostalgia from the 70's.
Overiding memories were those great European nights (seemed like we always drew Hadjuk Split) but those nights under the floodlights and spurs wearing white shirts and shorts with yellow socks just added to the ocassion and Mike England the ever present rock at the back. Great days.

My first memories are a little newer than yours... Gazza being stretchered off while Des Walker handed us the FA cup. My dad had sat me down to watch "a real game" and "a real team" with his beloved Notts Forrest in a cup final...

Little did he know that I'd just been watching Gazza and Lineker at Italia 90 and loved them... I knew Gazza was at Spurs and I think I thought Lineker still was (think he had just gone to Barca) and I was already in love with those players...

Needless to say, when I jumped up cheering at the final whistle, he was fucking fuming and his plan hadn't worked out quite how he thought it would...

I learnt everything Spurs I could then at school discovered all my pals were multi generational Cuckoo's... So I had to be a Yid from then on out...

The contrarian underdog story had began...
